Chapter 2 - 2

Lincoln freaked out when he felt the hug. "Mom? Are you my mom?"

Rita began to cry, saying, "Yes, son, I am. Your mother is here."

Outside the hospital, the Louds got into the family van and drove home.

As they walked, the girls were silent, only Lori daring to speak. "So... will Lincoln be blind forever?"

The car stopped at a red light, and the father watched his daughters in the rear-view mirror as they began to cry.

Leni couldn't believe the situation they were going through, just yesterday, her little brother had been reading a comic and playing his video games, and now he couldn't even see his own face in the mirror. "They can cure him, right?" she asked, her voice trembling as tears streamed down her cheeks.

"I don't know, my dear," said Rita. "The damage he sustained was very serious."

Already back home, the Louds had cleaned and tidied up Lisa and Lily's room.

"It's all Lisa's fault" Luna begins crying. Everyone turns to see the rocker. "It's her fault" she says, squeezing the broomstick so hard it breaks in half.

"What are you talking about, daughter?" her father asked.

Luna was changing the wand as she spoke. "I heard it all too, she was planning to put something in the city water, Lincoln was going to tell you, Mom, but she stopped him, and I went downstairs to tell you, but then everything exploded. Because of that bitch my brother is blind. You deserve to be in a coma, and you deserve to stay there in a coma forever. "

The girls and their parents hugged her when they saw her fall to the ground.

A month passed, and Lisa didn't wake up, Luna's words seemed to fall like a curse on the girl, while with Lincoln it was no better. Every morning he got up crying because he didn't know if his eyes were still open or closed, and if it would be more appropriate to say that he was crying, since his tear ducts had been damaged by the explosion, or if it was all a dream. Someone had to constantly attend to him if he needed help to get up to go to the bathroom, and this was always with one of his sisters or his parents, who took turns spending the night with him, so that he could eat without spilling something on himself. A world without lights or colors, in complete darkness was a living nightmare, but little by little Lincoln learned how to move forward. His friend Clyde helped him. Visiting him daily in the hospital, reading him wonderful comics and describing the drawings in vivid detail, Luan encouraged him by telling him jokes, being careful not to tell jokes about hir brother's attitude.

Luna played beautiful songs for him as long as they weren't too loud to disturb the other patients.

Finally, on the last day of the first month of winter, it was a Friday, and Lincoln was discharged from the hospital, his mother taking him in a wheelchair to the family carriage. The boy wore black glasses and carri ed a folding cane.

When he got home, he was greeted with a hug from his sisters and pets. He learned Lisa wasn't there. After losing his sight, he started relying on his hearing and could hear she was in a coma. Partly, he felt guilty, he had lost his sight and was still limping on one leg since the fall, but even with all that, he couldn't save his little sister.

He was well received at home by the girls, who had prepared a chocolate cake for him to celebrate his return home.

"You can now spend the rest of the holiday with us" said Leni, hugging her brother.

Lincoln and his parents wore worried expressions, which the girls noticed.

Luan asked "Why do they look like this?"

"Girls" Rita said, "sit down. We have to tell you something important." She pointed to the couch, and the girls obediently sat down.

"What's the matter, Mom?" Lynn asked, knowing something was wrong and hoping it had nothing to do with her brother's health.

Mrs. Loud stood before her daughters and began to speak. "Girls, I'm afraid there is no easy way to say this, but..." she paused "Lincoln will not be living here anymore."

It left all of her daughters speechless.

"Why doesn't Lincoln live here anymore?" Lucy asked in astonishment.

Rita looked her daughter in the eye as she raised her gaze. "Honey, it's true. Lincoln is going to a special school for children like him. The doctor who treated Lincoln has a sister who is the principal of that school, and I accepted two weeks ago. The bad news is that it is in Canada."

Everyone was shocked to hear about the location of the school.

"Canada!?" they all shouted together.

"Yes, Canada" said Rita.

Mr. Loud continued "Your grandfather owns a house near the town where the school is, Lincoln will live there."

"They can't take him from us like that." luna said Jumping off the couch.

Rita apologized to her daughter and began to cry, saying "I'm sorry, but we have no other choice."

"It's going to be hard, but you need to understand that it's what's best for your little brother. In Canada, they don't have the super long winter break, so they have school, Lincoln and Grandpa will leave on Monday morning."

For the rest of the weekend, the girls spent playing and chatting with their little brother since they would only see him during Christmas, New Year's, and summer holidays.

Monday arrived, and the taxi that would take them to the airport was waiting for Lincoln outside.

Rita hugged her son for the last time. "You have everything? Toothbrush? Clean clothes? Let me check one more time."

Lincoln laughed at his mother's attitude and said "Calm down, Mom, I'm fine."

Grandpa brought their bags and waited for them on the porch. "Rita, calm down, the boy is blind, but he's not stupid."

Rita sighed. "I know, Dad, I didn't think it would happen."

The sisters finally hugged their brother with their parents

"Don't forget my face, you silly one," lori said in a sarcasm-filled tone.

Lincoln laughed and replied, "It's not going to happen, unfortunately."

Everyone laughed and let Lincoln go. They could only see how the lonely boy from Loud House had gotten into the taxi with his grandfather. The car started and disappeared over the horizon.
