Chapter 345 - 3-

Chapter 3: Thou shalt save the day

Summary:

Izuku is back on the rooftop, slowly getting accustomed to his new powers. Good thing he has them, too, since a villain is attacking his bully.

Notes:

Thanks so much for the amazing response to this story so far! I certainly didn't expect it, so thank you. I hope you'll enjoy the rest of the story just as much. I'm certainly glad I started writing out this idea that's been stuck in my head for months!

Without further ado, here's Chapter 3. What will happen now that Izuku is back in the mortal realm?

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

"Yeah, I think I'd like to go home now too," Izuku replied. "I guess I'll be seeing everyone again soon?"

The fifth angel stepped forward. "Of course. But as Kimiko said, you have time. You have no obligation to come back here if you don't want to, although the opposite is true as well. You may live your life however you see fit from now on. But we know you will do great things," they said with a wink.

"I will do my best!" Izuku declared. And for the first time in his life, he knew those words actually had meaning. He was going to do some amazing things, and he couldn't wait.

I can be a hero!

Izuku found himself back on the roof as quickly as he had left. It was surreal being back on Earth, but now he felt so much lighter. He was a god. He finally wasn't worthless anymore!

While he technically was still quirkless, he now had more power than all the quirks in the world combined, which meant that he could just give himself a quirk with the snap of his fingers! Which was good, considering how too much power would just cause a hell of a lot of trouble for him.

Ha, hell.

He should probably have been thinking about all the responsibilities that came with his new title, alongside less pleasant topics such as death and his immortality, plus having to lie to everyone for quite literally all of eternity – but he didn't. Not yet. He was human, he was still just a 14-year-old boy, so was not going to think about that yet.

Gathering his bearings, he quickly realised that effectively no time had passed while he had been gone. The sun was still there, and the sky was still a vibrant hue of orange. Sunsets had never looked so beautiful to him before.

"There we go! Told ya I could bring you back in no time at all."

Kimiko was next to him on the crate once more. Izuku smiled at her.

"You did!" he laughed. "So, are you coming home with me then?"

Kimiko snickered. "Unless you don't want me to, I'm never leaving your side again! I'm your best friend now after all. Besides, you have a lot to figure out regarding your new powers!"

"I can't wait," he replied with sincerity. "How am I going to introduce you to Mum? And what about school?"

Kimiko hummed. "Well, that's entirely up to you, but I can give you some options. From what I know about everyone in your life, I would say you introduce me to your mum as a quirked animal that you found, and you want to keep. Not that I am particularly keen on being called a pet," she huffed, "but it would be easiest for her to understand.

"As for school and when you're anywhere else… If I am to be a pet, then I should probably remain invisible while I follow you around. You don't want to give your bullies or teachers any more ammunition, if you catch my drift."

Izuku sighed at that last statement. "Yeah, you're right. But wait," he realised, "you can turn invisible? That's so cool!"

"Of course I can!" Kimiko stated with pride. "I can change my appearance however I see fit. I can become invisible and intangible, I can change my size, I can fly… I could even become a human if I wanted to, but I'm partial to my current form."

Izuku's jaw dropped. That was broken. And it was… awesome.

"You can too, you know."

"Wait, I can?!"

"Yeah! Just think what you want to be and – poof – you're that thing. Give it a go!"

Izuku was loving this day more and more. He figured he might as well try the first thing that caught his attention, which was turning invisible. With no tangible idea about how to go about it, he tried his best just to think about no longer being seen by others. Was he supposed to feel anything? A cooling sensation, perhaps? Anything at all?

His train of thought was quickly interrupted by the resident snow fox. "There you go! Easy, right?"

Raising his hand in front of his face, he was shocked. He was invisible! He did it! Izuku looked down at himself and found that the rest of his body was equally gone. There was a faint outline where his body should be, which helped with the bizarre sensation of being able to see through himself. This was going to be very useful, that was a given.

With a second thought, he turned himself visible again. He was shaking with excitement.

"I think I could get used to this," he joked.

Kimiko joined him in laughing. They could feel their strong, mutual bond growing fast. They really were meant for each other in every sense of the word, after all.

"Okay Izu, how about we make our way home? Your mum will be worried otherwise," she said, stretching her limbs like a cat. "How about we teleport to an alley near your apartment building? It will save us a lot of time and by teaching you that skill we can kill two birds with one stone."

Izuku's eyes were as big as dinner plates at this point. "Teleporting?! Damn, I really can do anything now, can't I?"

"Yep!"

Izuku made his way over to where he had left his bag and medical supplies, which made him stop when he realised something.

He looked over to his shoulder, which was still bandaged up and his uniform was still torn. He had completely forgotten about that, but it gave him an idea. Focusing his thoughts on what he wanted to happen, he hovered his hand over his shoulder and gasped as his wound healed itself, good as new. The sloppy bandages vanished, and his damaged middle school uniform looked at good as the day he'd first worn it.

"Ooh, good job! You figured out healing all by yourself! And before you ask, you can indeed change your clothing just as easily."

That's it. He was broken. He was overpowered. This was insane.

Kimiko laughed at him. "You're not broken! Sure, you're overpowered by human standards, but you're smart. You're going to figure it out and be the best damn hero this world has ever seen."

Izuku turned around and crouched on the floor in front of the little creature. Tears were already falling steadily down his cheeks. In a silent plea, his friend knew exactly what he needed and went over for a hug, which he gladly embraced.

"Thank you," he sniffled. "You have no idea how long I've been waiting for someone to tell me that."

"You've been waiting your whole life, Zuzu," she whispered. "And it is my greatest honour to be the first out of what will be many to tell you those very words."

They stayed like that for a minute in silence. It wasn't awkward silence in the slightest – on the contrary, it was the most healing hug the boy had ever received. Not even his beloved mother's hugs could compare, because they usually followed something sad. This, however, felt like a promise. A promise that life would be so much better from then on.

They were rudely interrupted by the sound of explosions in the distance. Untangling themselves from their embrace, Izuku looked towards the sounds with confusion.

"It's Bakugou," Kimiko told him, her upbeat demeanour gone.

"What?"

"He's being attacked by a villain made of sludge. There are heroes at the scene, but they are saying they don't have the right quirks."

Kimiko turned to him with a serious look on her face that he had never seen before. He returned her gaze with a look of determination.

"Tell me how I can help him."

-x-

Up until 10 minutes prior, Katsuki Bakugou had been having a stellar day. School had been a breeze, he'd gotten to beat up his precious punching bag as usual, and he'd beaten all his lackeys' scores at the arcade. The perfect day for the blonde.

Except then it turned into the worst day ever. He'd just been going home in peace when this stupid sludge villain decided to invade his lungs in an effort to take over his dead body. As if Bakugou would ever let that happen. He was strong, dammit!

With his powerful explosion quirk, he'd managed to buy himself some time for the heroes to show up, but then he'd slipped up in his defence was now struggling to breathe. No matter how many explosions he let off, it was no use. He couldn't breathe, it hurt, his lungs were on fire, and his vision was going dark around the edges.

He was running out of time fast, and what were the heroes doing? Mt. Lady stood there, as did some others, one of them was putting out some fires – but they were just watching him die. Why?! They weren't even trying anything!

There was a crowd watching him, and cameras were pointed in his direction. If Bakugou wasn't so busy fighting for his life, he would be quick to give them a piece of his mind.

It was then that something caught his attention. A light. Where was it coming from? Was he dying? He didn't want to die. He was supposed to be a hero, not some tragic news story!

The light faded to reveal a box of some kind. It was see-through and had some kind of lid hanging off one side.

The next thing he knew, the sludge villain was cursing up a storm as it was being sucked into the mysterious box on the ground. Bakugou felt the icky slime leaving his lungs and windpipe, and finally, he could breathe. He was hacking and coughing, but he was breathing, and it had never felt so good.

He lifted his head from his position on the ground to look at the box. The lid was closed now, and it seemed like the sludge was stuck inside. If Bakugou hadn't been in shock like was, he would have laughed at the pitiful villain… that had almost killed him. Damn. That really just happened, didn't it?

And just like that, it was over. The light was long gone, and the box sat innocently on the concrete. Heroes and civilians alike stared at the scene in front of them in shock. What on Earth had just happened?

It took a moment before they all shook themselves free of their stupor. Paramedics rushed to the victim and heroes were quick to grab the box and place it in another container – one that they were actually familiar with and could trust to do the job.

Once the box was properly sealed, though, it vanished. The villain trapped inside yelped in surprise as it suddenly had more room than before. The heroes were perplexed once more. Where did the box go? Where did it come from? Was this the doing of some kind of vigilante?

What nobody could realise was that, yes, technically, it was the actions of a vigilante that had saved the day. Not that anyone could ever know who it was, of course, seeing as said vigilante remained invisible in every sense of the word the entire time.

Izuku never thought he'd ever do anything even close to vigilantism, partially because by definition vigilantism involves the illegal use of a quirk without a hero license, but also because he'd always done his best to follow the rules and not stand out.

Kimiko teleported them to a random alley close to Izuku's home, one where no one would be listening in. She told Izuku to maintain his invisibility for a moment, though, alongside the other thing that allowed him to not be heard, no matter how loud he should scream. They didn't want to be overheard, after all, and Izuku could use a moment to calm down, she thought.

And she was right, of course.

"Oh my gosh," he practically yelled. "That was absolutely amazing! I did that! I saved Kacchan!"

He was pacing the alleyway and stopped to punch the air high in the sky, releasing some of the rush of endorphins and adrenaline he was currently feeling.

"I mean technically I'm a vigilante now but there isn't even a way for me to be caught! Ha!"

Kimiko, while not high on the same stuff that Izuku was, was delighted as well, jumping up and down, the little leaves in her antlers struggling to keep up.

"You did it! That was amazing! You were a better hero than anyone else there!"

That made Izuku turn his attention to his companion. "You have a point! Those heroes did nothing, but why? Just because their quirks weren't the perfect match? Since when did that stop heroes from strategizing and trying anyway, instead of just waiting for a different hero to show up? The villain's eyes were such an obvious weak point!"

"Yeah, you're right. And yet those heroes did nothing apart from putting out some fires. They pretty much stood there like idiots the entire time."

"Well," Izuku replied, "that certainly won't do. That might just be something for me to look into."

After all, Izuku was God now. He could change society with a snap of his fingers. But the problem was that he couldn't change people. What he could do, however, was to change it as a fellow human. He can change things from within, as a hero. It would take some time, but with his new powers, he could certainly speed things up.

"Maybe not anytime soon, but I think I can chip away at society's flaws over the years. To think my hero analyses could be useful in more ways than one; I've been analysing people and situations for so long. Society's flaws are nothing new."

He straightened his jacket. "But damn, Kimiko! Your plan was genius. It minimised damage and casualties, it was quick, and it was fool-proof! That might be a cool idea for a quirk."

Kimiko puffed her foxy chest with pride. "That's what I'm here for – telling you of all the cool things you can do now! Let's just hope those silly heroes actually keep him contained this time."

"This time?" Izuku asked quizzingly. "You mean he escaped before?"

"Oh, yeah, he did. Remember when you met All Might on the roof earlier?"

Izuku huffed. "Yeah, how could I forget my former favourite hero crushing my dreams with just a few words and leaving me on a roof of a tall building all by myself."

"Yeah," Kimiko agreed. "He is an idiot. In every sense of the word. Before jumping up onto that roof, he'd fought and contained the sludge villain in a plastic bottle."

"You're kidding me," Izuku gaped.

"Nope, and it gets worse. That bottle fell from his trouser pocket, which is how the villain managed to escape. And All Might didn't even notice until the villain had already found Bakugou."

Izuku didn't know what to feel, or what to do. Should he laugh? Should he cry? He kind of felt like doing both, but what came out instead more of a choked laugh and his shoulders shook.

"To think I ever looked up to him. He may be the Symbol of Peace, but all he's good for is being strong."

"I wholeheartedly agree," Kimiko said while shaking her head. "Anyway. Your mum is worried. I think you should prepare yourself for a bone-crushing hug, a sea of tears and a million and one questions."

Izuku groaned whereas Kimiko just smirked.

Traitor.

Notes:

Green bean performed his first act of heroism, kinda! Can you imagine the high just have been on after doing something he'd been dreaming of his entire life when everyone always told him he'd never be able to do it? I'm making our boy's dreams come true y'all.

Also, there will be some serious All Might bashing in this story lol, if you can't already tell. Kimiko, for one, is very much on board with it.

What do you think about how Izuku took down the sludge villain? I get it might have been a bit anticlimactic, but the situation simply didn't call for a flashy debut, I feel. It was only one villain, after all. Also, Izuku wasn't about to reveal himself, since his actions were illegal (which is such a stupid law but anyway). Consider his little stunt a sneak peek of what his official quirk will be able to do in the future

As always, thanks for reading!

Chapter 4: Thou shalt commence thy journey

Summary:

Mama Midoriya meets Izuku's new friend. Afterwards, he fully takes in his new appearance.

Notes:

It is Monday, my dudes. Have a new chapter! After working my retail job all weekend it feels good to focus on this again for a bit.

Chapter Text

Making his way up the flight of stairs that lead to his apartment, Izuku was becoming increasingly more nervous. Sure, he'd just faced a literal villain without even breaking a sweat, but this was his mother. While she was as sweet as an angel (ha), that didn't mean she wasn't intimidating when she was worried. And he hadn't texted her in hours.

Finally making it to the front door, he took a deep breath. Kimiko was beside him but remained invisible and intangible for the time being. They had decided it was best not to overwhelm the poor woman with too much at once.

"Guess I better get this over with, Kimi."

Stealing his nerves, he unlocked the door with his keys and finally entered his home after what had been an incredibly long day for him. He quickly closed the door (which Kimiko had simply walked through) and took off his shoes.

"I'm home!" he shouted.

He heard her before he saw her. Quick steps echoed throughout the hallway and he was promptly tackled by Inko, his mother, who had practically materialised out of thin air, in a crushing bear hug.

"Izuku! Baby, where were you? I was so worried!"

Ouch, that hurt.

"I'm sorry! I fell asleep in the café and the owners let me rest. You know they've taken a liking to me since I'm one of their best customers."

It felt bad lying, but it was the best thing he could come up with. He couldn't tell the truth for obvious reasons, and even the half-truth would have just made her worry even more.

"I saw Katsuki on TV! I was so worried, baby, I half expected you to appear in the crowd and rush to help him like the hero you want to be."

Double ouch.

"Aw, Mum! I wouldn't have done that. I didn't even see the attack, I only found out about it when I saw the news on my way home."

Izuku really, really hated lying, he quickly realised. Sure, he'd been lying to her for years about the bullying, but this felt different for some reason, and he couldn't quite understand why. Maybe because the thing he was lying to her about was so much bigger than some simple bullying?

"Alright, well, as long as you're okay. Just remember to text me more, could you do that? I'm too young to go grey, Sweetie."

He sighed but smiled at her. "Sure, Mum. I'll try."

"That's all I can ask, I suppose. I just don't want you getting hurt."

If only you knew how hurt I'd been just a couple of hours ago.

It was at that moment, when Inko started to pull away, that Kimiko caught his attention. Izuku sighed. Time for part two.

"Err, Mum? There's something I need to talk to you about. Please don't be mad!" he said, nervously playing with his fingers.

Inko cocked her head to the side. "What is it?"

Taking that as her cue, Kimiko finally appeared in all her adorable glory beside Izuku. Inko audibly gasped and placed a hand in front of her mouth.

"Mum," Izuku starting, and moved to pick up Kimiko, holding her in his arms in a gentle embrace, "this is Kimiko. She's an animal with a quirk, as you can see. I found her earlier and we sorta… bonded? She doesn't want to leave my side now, and I'd like to keep her if that's okay."

He breathed, before holding his breath in anticipation. He had no idea how his mum was going to react, and it made him nervous.

Kimiko did her best to look as cute and adorable as possible. Not that it was hard, of course, but it's the thought that counts, as they say. Her pink eyes practically twinkled despite the low lighting in the genkan.

"Oh my," Inko finally managed to say after what felt like an eternity to all parties. "She's certainly very cute."

Kimiko smiled at her as best she could, and Izuku chuckled at the situation, before coming up with an answer that amused him even more. "She's an angel."

I'm going to be making religious puns for the rest of my life and no one can stop me, he mentally declared to no one in particular, although he knew Kimiko was most likely picking up on his thoughts.

"May I pet her? Would that be okay?"

Izuku looked at the fox in his arms who was quick to nod. "Go ahead, she doesn't mind."

Inko tentatively took a step forward and placed her hand on Kimiko's back, gently stroking it. Kimiko started wagging her tail in an effort to show that she liked it, as most humans recognised that behaviour in dogs.

While Kimiko could speak just fine, a speaking animal was rare. They existed but were misunderstood by the general population. As such, Kimiko had made her intentions clear to Izuku that this was the best approach. Izuku didn't mind either way.

Still gingerly stroking the little snow fox, Inko started smiling. "My, she's certainly very cute. How did you find her?"

Izuku mentally reprimanded himself for not having thought of a story before coming home, but before he could come up with an answer, he suddenly heard Kimiko's thoughts in his mind.

Tell her I was in an alley looking for food.

Izuku hoped his mum didn't pick up on his strange behaviour and was quick to plaster a smile on this face.

"Oh, well, basically I heard something in an alley near the café," he started. "I wasn't going to go in in case it was a person, but I had a look from the street and then I saw her."

He was trying to come up with a story that was both convincing and not worrying for this mother. "I figured she was looking for food, so I made my way over to her. At first, he went invisible when she saw me, but I didn't want her to go hungry or eat some bad food, so I grabbed my bento from my bag and showed it to her.

"I opened the lid and told her she could have some. I didn't know if she was still there, but after a short while, she appeared again and ate the food. After that, she decided to follow me."

Inko chuckled at this story. "Oh, Izuku, you always had a heart too big for your body."

"Mum!" he protested, but he laughed anyway.

"She's truly an amazing creature, I don't think I've ever seen a fox with antlers before. Did you name her?"

"Yeah, I did. She's intelligent, and she seems to like it. She listens to it too."

Kimiko decided to join in the conversation in the only way she could by giving an affirming grunt and nuzzling Izuku's chest from her position in his arms.

"It certainly sounds like she likes you, Sweetie," Inko said, removing her hand from Kimiko's fur. "Well, as long as you take care of her, I think she might even do you good."

Izuku beamed. "I will! Thanks, Mum!"

Kimiko jumped off of Izuku, who gave his mother a slightly less bone-crushing hug. He then grabbed his bag from where he had discarded it on the floor and made his way over to this bedroom with Kimiko trailing behind him.

"Oh, by the way," Inko called after him, "I'll have dinner ready in about an hour!"

"Thanks!" Izuku shouted back.

Opening the door to his bedroom and holding the door open this time, he quickly dumped his bag on the floor, took off his jacket and promptly collapsed on his bed face-first. Kimiko saw her opportunity and jumped up onto the bed after him, curling on his back with a satisfied huff.

"Are you sure you're not a cat?" Izuku teased half-heartedly.

"I'm a being created from the cosmos itself. I can act however I want."

"Touché."

They stayed like that for a few minutes. For the first time since gaining his divine powers, Izuku finally had a moment to himself, which was sorely needed. A moment to relax and reflect.

He really was a god now, and it hadn't quite sunken in yet. Would it ever? He wasn't sure. For him, he was more focused on the fact that he could finally be the hero he had always wanted to be. His future was finally bright for the first time, and it filled his entire being with warmth.

Growing up in a society that scorned him, he'd always tried to remain optimistic, but he would have been lying if he had said that he hadn't felt any resentment whatsoever. A part of him was fractured, but now he actually felt loved. By whom, he wasn't sure. The universe, he supposed.

As Kimiko snuggled up into an even tighter ball on top of him, her warmth made his mind wander to what his next steps should be. He figured that a quirk should be at the top of his list, seeing as any use of his powers would need to explained by one. While he was eager to experiment with the full breadth of his powers, a quirk was the one thing he had been dreaming of his entire life, and the one thing that had kept him from reaching his goal of being a hero. It was also the main reason why society and bullies targeted him as much as they did.

U.A., the top hero school in the country and his dream school, had its entrance exam in roughly ten months' time. If he wanted to get into the heroics course, he needed to pass the written exam and the physical exam. While he knew the school technically accepted quirkless applicants, nobody had ever even dared to apply. That is, if they were even still alive at that point.

Mentally shaking himself from that dark train of thought, he returned to the matter at hand. If he wanted to be a hero, he needed a quirk. A part of him wanted to be the first quirkless hero, to be a symbol of inspiration for quirkless kids everywhere, but he soon realised there were some flaws with that idea. He had powers now, and if he wanted to rescue people and defeat villains, it would only make sense to actively use some of them. He wouldn't be able to pass of his powers with gadgets and skills alone.

Then, there was the fact that people wouldn't take him seriously. U.A. would be hesitant to accept him into the heroics course, despite their apparent policies on inclusivity, and agencies wouldn't be willing to accept any potential hero who would just be seen as a liability. And quirkless people were at the top of that list.

No, if he wanted to create lasting change, he had to tackle the issue from the inside, just like what he'd been thinking about before. He would just have to make sure the world knew that quirkless people deserved just as much respect from the world as everyone else. He'd help every quirkless kid out there.

With that settled, he now had to think about what quirk he wanted to have officially. He would still have his god powers in a pinch, and he could always be a vigilante on the side and make use of a different "quirk" that way, but people would be suspicious if he seemingly had multiple quirks. People wouldn't trust him, and as a wannabe hero, that was the last thing he wanted. He couldn't afford to have people think he was affiliated with villains.

But then, what should he give himself? It had to be strong, versatile and flashy, too. He didn't want to have to fight toohard when he could end fights easily. While he had no desire to be like All Might, he did want a similar kind of presence. Villains should fear him, but citizens should love him. Especially kids.

Kids were the ones he wanted to save most of all. As someone who had his childhood ruined for him, he wanted to save as many other children as he could. And, knowing his new powers, the potential number was high.

Over the years, he had daydreamed about having different kinds of quirks. He'd imagined himself punching bad guys like All Might, putting out fires with a water quirk, or flying over the islands of Japan like Hawks with his mighty red wings. Wings which he technically had now, albeit in his divine form.

Speaking of which, he still hadn't had a proper look at himself in that form yet. It's not like Heaven had a mirror lying around in that meadow or anything. He knew roughly what he looked like, but he wanted to truly see for himself.

"Hey, Kimi?" he asked the creature who hadn't budged this entire time from on top of him.

"Yeah, Zuzu?"

He chuckled at his new nickname. He liked it. Much more than Deku, that was for sure.

"I want to have a look at myself in my God form from earlier."

Kimiko hummed before slowly unravelling herself from her curled-up position. "Good idea, and we still have some time before dinner. Go ahead and create a barrier around the room so that no one can see you or feel your divine presence, and then you can just create a mirror or two."

Huh, that's easy.

After Kimiko finally jumped off him, Izuku sat up on the bed and did just as Kimiko had advised him to do. He created a large mirror that was wide, tall and curved around a bit in the shape of a semi-circle. After all, he wanted to see his wings as best he could.

Standing in front of the mirror with Kimiko sat on the bed still, Izuku closed his eyes and exhaled. Once he opened them again, the reflection staring back at him took his breath away.

He truly looked magnificent. He hadn't realised it before, but he was taller and actually had toned muscles for the first time in his life. His hair was also long, reaching his chest, and it was even longer in the back. It was still green, as were his eyes, which he liked. He instinctively knew he could just change his appearance whenever he wanted to, but he liked what he saw, so he saw no need to do so.

He also had some flowers in his hair, which he adored, and which were fastened to his hair with some gold hair pieces. The specks of colour around his eyes amused him. He knew Kimiko and the other angels had them too, but it was something else seeing it on himself.

His clothing consisted of a free-flowing robe with some kind of shorts underneath. His chest was covered, but his toned arms and back were exposed, as were the sides of his legs. He was wearing some simple sandals, which didn't seem too sturdy but were probably fine. It worked with the aesthetic regardless.

And that led him to the biggest change about him. His wings. He had wings! He tentatively spread them out from behind his back to have a better look at them and to feel the muscles and feathers properly. He couldn't even unfurl them fully because they were so big, when he realised he could probably change the size and shape a bit, so he made them a bit smaller for the time being.

Now that he could get a better look at them, he realised that each feather was predominantly white, while the tips faded into a shade of green that matched his eyes and hair, but they had the added bonus of shimmering gold on top of that.

He liked them; they suited him perfectly. Thinking back to the colourful splashes of colours he'd seen on himself, Kimiko and the other angels, though, he got an idea. Bringing his wings in front of himself to get a better look at them in the mirror, he cycled through a variety of different colours. He liked the red, since it made him look like Hawks' little brother or something. He liked the multicoloured look, which made him look like a rainbow bird. He liked the falcon-like pattern, with the black markings. He liked the sparkly, crystal effect he somehow managed to come up with.

Finally, he thought about the shape. How come his wings, and those of the angels, looked so… standard? Cliché? Didn't angels have lots of different forms that came with many wings?

Unfurling his wings once more, he made his two large wings smaller once more and added two smaller ones just underneath his shoulder blades. It felt weird, like suddenly having two extra limbs, but it looked cool, he thought. He had no idea if it would help him fly better, though. It would something to experiment with at a later date.

As he looked at himself in the mirror, he was slowly accepting this new image of himself. He liked it, at the very least, even if it didn't feel quite like it was part of himself yet.

"You look amazing, Izu, and you'll grow into that image in time."

Izuku twirled around to face Kimiko, who was smiling at him. "Thanks, Kimiko. I know I will, I guess it will just take some time, as you said."

Kimiko hummed in agreement. "I'm never wrong," she said with a mischievous twinkle in her eyes. "And I have an idea."

"Oh? Pray tell."

Oh yeah, these puns are becoming funnier by the minute.

"Let's go fly!" was her answer.

Oh. Right. He had wings. That meant he could fly! They weren't just for show, after all.

"Why didn't I think of that?!"

"Because you have me."

"Right," he chuckled.

He pondered her proposal for a moment. "Okay, I have some questions first. First of all, can I actually fly? Like, do I somehow instinctively know how to use these things, or will I just plummet to my death?"

"Okay, first of all," she answered, "You can't die anyway. Second of all, you are literally in your purest divine form right now, and you can learn anything you want just by thinking about it. So yes, you can fly."

"Huh, okay then," he hummed, bringing a hand up to his chin and the other to his waist. "Then, do you want me to carry you while I fly?"

"You can either carry me or I can fly alongside you. I may not usually have wings in this form, but," she said, as white and pink wings suddenly materialised on her back with a sparkle effect, "now I do".

Izuku was practically gushing at this point. "Oh my gosh, that is so cool! I should have realised that you can do anything just like me. I feel stupid now."

"It's fine, you're still human after all! Now, how about we teleport to the highest building in the city, leap off and then plummet until the last possible moment before taking flight?"

Izuku stared at her for a moment before grinning from ear to ear. "Oh, we are going to be the best of friends, aren't we?"
