The following day, after having made sure to tidy up his appearance, Adam made his way to Professor Whitaker's office inside the castle. He had been gone for so long, that he had to now come up with an excuse for his abrupt and long absence.
Adam politely knocked on the door twice and called out, "Professor, it's me. May I come in?"
After a long moment of silence, the old woman answered from within. "Come in."
Adam straightened his clothes and took a deep breath before opening the door and stepping inside. The layout of Professor Whitaker's office was the same as ever. It was cozy and warm.
The old lady sat at her table, writing something on sheets of parchment paper. Adam walked up to her and stood there politely, not daring to sit. He knew that the old woman would be mad at him.
Seeing how more than ten minutes had passed without her asking him to sit, Adam confirmed in his heart that she was indeed angry at him.
