Observing this, Dave smiled and patted at Lilly's head, "Don't worry, by chance if a Hyena break their rank, you can take it down. Besides it will be a good practice for you." Lilly beamed and hugged Dave in exitement and thanked him.
"Hey Wil, let a couple of Hyena's pass through. Lilly want to have a go at them itseem's." Williams turned and gave a ruefull smile and a thumbs up.
"There you have it Lilly, get ready." Dave smiled. Rose and Irene's jaw were dropping almost to the ground when they saw this casual interaction.
"Are they mad?!! Do they think its hilarious to talk like this, in such a situation? Do they even feel its so easy to face a couple of Hyena's, without any consequences?" Irene thought with a terrified expression.
But Lilly was exited beyond anything. It was rare for her to face a wild beast and have real combat practice alone.
Now the Hyena's were almost 20 meters away from the boys and the S-Class matriarch of this huge group of beasts also seemed like cackling at the human, considering them as her pray's.
"I hate the sound they make." Ben said with gritted teeth. No one disagreed at this. The Hyena's were one of the cunning and vicious creatures they had ever came across.
Alan didn't even bothered to talk to the beast as he can sense the malicious nature of it.
The group's matriarch dashed forward with a cackle, heading straight for Alan. Taking a deep breath, he steadied himself.
"Keep your eyes on Al. If you blink you will miss the miracle." Dave informed the girls, excitement evident in his voice.
With bated breath, the girls watched as Alan effortlessly swung the sword in a fluid motion, from his left foot to his right shoulder, bringing it above his head.
A slender, silver streak as thin as a leaf's edge materialized as Alan's blade cut through the air, swiftly advancing toward the Hyena.
Thud.....
With a resounding sound, the Hyena's head toppled where the streak intersected, yet its body staggered a few steps before slumping to the ground, twitching momentarily before succumbing to stillness, lifeless.
A deafening silence enveloped the scene after the matriarch hyena fell, leaving the girls awestruck and shaken. Such a display was beyond anything they had ever witnessed or imagined.
Watching this, the remaining 70 or so hyenas erupted into frenzied screams, hurtling towards the humans, the boys eagerly readied their weapons, charging forward with jubilant shouts as if fulfilling a long-craved desire.
"Are they out of their minds?" Irene blurted out, voicing her disbelief.
"No, they're my brothers, and they're thrilled," Rose replied, a newfound excitement gleaming in her eyes.
Feeling the rush of facing the challenge, Rose contemplated embracing the thrill of being an adventurer for the first time, a sentiment not lost on Dave and Lilly, who exchanged knowing smiles at her newfound determination.
Amidst the chaos, Lilly snapped to attention at William's distant warning, assuming a defensive stance as William deftly allowed six hyenas to pass, two initally then four after a few seconds later, before casually beginning his slaughter.
Dave facepalmed. "Wil, you bastard. Why did you leave six of them. Its Lilly we are testing her not the young Williams." Dave roared angrily. Bringing a hearty laughters from all around him from the other boys. "Oops... my mistake. Take care of it you lazy jerk." Williams shouted back.
Dave shook his head helplessly. "Lilly take out the two coming at you directly."
"But.... but brother, I can't.... " her voice was filled with panic.
"First thing you girls need to know is, never to show your panic or your fear to a wild beasts."
"Lilly don't worry, I am right here." Dave patted her shoulders in an encouraging gesture.
Lilly took a deep breath and firmed her grip on her sword. She then charged forwards and sliced her sword through the first Hyena's side and stabbed at the seconds chest.
The first one staggered a few steps from the pain, but the second was twitching and laying down as the sword was struck in its ribs. Lilly tried to pull but it was struck.
The first Hyena which was injured charged at Lilly and lunged at her. Fear and panic surged in her eyes as she saw the large canines darting towards her face. She was in such fear that, she even forgot to close her eyes, sure of her death this time.
It seemed as though she was staring into the face of death, feeling utterly helpless in the shadow of impending demise.
