Chapter 34 - So That No One Steals It

"What the fuck?!"

After Yuki suddenly slammed the door shut, Arina jumped back, visibly startled by Yuki's, to her random, behavior.

"W-what's wrong? Did something happen?"

"…Hm? No. Nothing. I just realized Yamato isn't in here! We shouldn't enter without his permission or knowledge. Shame on you, Arina."

"What? You dragged me here! And you of all people say that? I saw you snoop around in there without him being inside!"

"Uh… I but I had permission. Now I don't, so we can't enter. No talking back, you pervert!"

"I'm the-… Whatever! I'm leaving! Maybe Yamato will talk some sense into you and answer my questions! And when I find him, I'm gonna tell him how you wanted to enter his room!"

"Yes! You do that!"

"…I will!"

"Hurry!"

She walked off, feeling weird about not being stopped but being angry too. She decided that when she found Yamato, she would not tell him about Yuki's snooping around after all. Once she left the floor, Yuki opened the door again and rushed inside.

"Hi, Yuki. Impressive how you managed to lure her away by making her angry, but simultaneously have her already forgive you by the time she walked off. I'm proud of your subtlety. But as you see… I'm in a bit of a predicament here."

"…"

She would be bursting with joy, she was only internally now, but what was lying on the ground made her hold back her happiness for now.

"Is that…"

"I found that his name is Jack. It became… Unfortunate."

"Ah, I saw him with Jessica. That flooz-… Girl, which came by earlier and knocked on the door."

"You saw them? Where were you anyway?"

"I was observing nature and the animals that live in it. Anyway, is he dead? He looks dead. There's blood coming from his head…"

He poked him with her foot, moving his head around a little before pulling away with a disgusted expression.

"He's unconscious. There was no other way…"

Earlier, when Jack left after his disagreement with Jessica, he walked off. But on his way, he decided to ignore what Jessica said and confront Yamato about Yuki, who was still stalking Jessica. When he knocked on Yamato's door, he was in the middle of thinking about ways to find out about who knew about Yuki besides Jessica. But never could he have imagined that the only other person would just come by his doorstep and invite himself in.

"You fucking prick. Are you in on this?! Is that why you try to stall time? Jessica might be gullible, but that shit doesn't work with me."

"I'm sorry, I have no idea what you are talking about."

Jack pushed Yamato away against a wall, to which Yamato did not resist, even though he could have done so with ease.

"Don't bullshit me… I've had enough of this. I don't know what she sees in you. It's always Jack do this, Jack don't do that, but I ain't doing shit for you. Like hell will I wait for tomorrow. I'm going right now."

"…"

He let go of Yamato and turned to leave, walking rather quickly, so if Yamato wanted to stop him, he had to do so immediately.

"So he's one… I won't be able to persuade him the way I could with Jessica, that much is certain. He is going to tell them no matter what… I guess I only have one option…"

He grabbed a small stone statue, in the form of a heart, that Yuki had bought on a whime and just hoarded in his room, and silently rushed behind Jack. Before he could reach the door, Yamato hit him with it hard enough so he fell unconscious. As he hit the ground, a pool of blood immediately began to cover the floor. It wasn't that much blood, but still enough to make it difficult to clean up.

"I wish I could've done it without the mess, but who knows what kind of magic he has. If it wouldn't have been instant, he could have overpowered me or made a scene… But what now…"

And soon after Arina and Yuki knocked, which is how we ended up here.

"I see, so that's how it was…"

She jumped over the body and hugged Yamato protective and affectionately.

"I'm sorry, Master! This was all my fault, it even brought you in danger! I will take care of the rest, I promise!"

"Are you sure you can handle-"

Yuki mustered all of her courage, and with no hesitation kissed him, which he did not pull back from. While she closed her eyes, Yamato's remained unresponsive to her sudden act of affection. Her warm, soft lips departed from his only reluctantly as she wished for them to stay in this moment forever.

"…Before someone else steals your first from me!"

"Were you worried someone suddenly jumped and kissed me without any way to intervene…"

"Yes! I was way too careless, this environment is full of girls that, while all inferior in beauty to me, could try something!"

"Well, guess you can let go of that fear then. And me too, while you're at it…"

She let go and looked up at him, blushing like crazy.

"So, uhm… I've got this. I wouldn't want you to reside in here as long as it is not perfectly clean. Please stay in my room for now. Oh, and just to clarify… Is this situation a mess big enough for… Drastic measures?"

"…Yes. But don't kill anyone else. You might have to kill Jack, that's on me. But avoid that for anyone else, understand?"

"Understood!"

"Good… And Yuki? I was not going to choose Jessica."

"I know, Master. Thank you."

After Yamato left, Yuki jumped and squealed and rolled around in happiness on the bed, looking very childish and momentarily forgetting about the unconscious body next to her. When she remembered, she locked in again.

"Ah… I sent master away without a plan! Even though I promised him I would take care of it! But I have no idea how to take care of it!"

She looked over the edge of the bed, where Jack was still lying unconscious. She stretched over towards him, poking him curiously only to find him in a seemingly perpetual state of unresponsiveness.

"What would master do… The last body was already dead, this one is still alive, this sucks! Though, he basically permitted me to kill him too, did he not? Hm… What do you think, Jim? Jake… Jack!"

She poked him a little more, pondering about what and how to do next. Suddenly a small, folded piece of paper fell out of his pocket, due to her continuous idle poking.

"Just kidding. As if your opinion could help me, let alone be of value in the first place, you silly goose. Oh, what's that~?"

As she picked up and unfolded the piece of paper, she became extremely annoyed at its contents. A sincere, heartfelt love letter! From Jessica to Yamato, she never thought she would have to endure this. She had hoped for everyone to just ship her with him and never make a move because they just assumed he was taken, which of course he was. By her! But why would Jack have that? It looked as if it was already sent. But of course there was no way to know for certain. Jack did seem a little protective of Jessica, even if he didn't outright say so. In fact, Yuki believed it to be quite obvious that he likes Jessica. Well, she did stalk them, so she saw it a little clearer than the average outsider. Maybe Jack intercepted the letter when she sent it to Yamato? So she believed it went through, when in fact Yamato never received it? Which would explain her flirty and overly affectionate behavior! As Yuki's thoughts began to spiral into theories, she accidentally ripped the leter in half. Jessica just became a lot more repelling to her.

Suddenly, she knew exactly what she needed to do, and she would do so without the slightest hesitation or remorse afterwards.

"Okay, Jack, let's make you useful to me!"

Jack did not respond, as she began to pull him against the wall. She healed the wound on his head so it would stop bleeding, although she hated having to waste mana on healing someone other than Yamato.

"But how do I get you out of this room…? If you were like, lots of little pieces I could carry you out in little bags and pretend to just clean up! Then again, someone might ask why I would clean Yamato's room. He's more of a clean person anyway, so carrying out five or six bags would be suspicious! I'd look like a crazy person stealing his stuff! Can you imagine?"

Jack did not respond, as Yuki walked to the door.

"You better don't go anywhere! Hehe, of course you won't, I'm so silly. Ah, but just in case…"

She casted a sleeping spell on him, to make sure he doesn't wake up while she is gone. She hurried to her dorm, where she needed to get a few things for this to work. When she got there, Yamato sat on her bed with a book in his hand.

"Did you take care of it so soon?"

"No, I just needed a few things…"

"Hey, Yuki…"

"Mhm?"

"…Isn't that the book you explained to me? Or rather, explained in an improved way?"

"Whaaat? Pft, no! I must've had the same one! Maybe that's why I could explain it so well!"

"No, I don't think so… Mine was missing too. Did you steal it?"

"It's not stealing if I take it and think that I will give it back maybe!"

"That's not even trying to justify it… And this pillow too, isn't that mine? I thought the one in my room smelled weird…"

"What do you mean, weird?!"

"As in, unfamiliar."

"Ah… Phew."

He put the book aside and picked up the pillow.

"I thought it was just because you where on it so much, that it just smelled like you. But mine had a loose seam at a corner, just like this one… Are these like, trophies to you?"

"…Ah. You understand me so well, Master!"

"I really do, don't I…"

"I don't know what I expected… I guess, pictures of me sleeping all over the wall? But this world doesn't have pictures yet, so maybe more like paintings… Stealing my pillow and a book as trophies, that's surprisingly cute and innocent in comparison."
