Life settled into a quiet rhythm as Kir and his family adjusted to their new reality.
Once they left the Academy, they settled into a new home at the northern shore nearest the barrier, far from the bustle of the city, but equidistant to both Norneau and the steelworks. Kir initially spent much of his time there, since now that the city could no longer receive iron, the focus would have to shift to making the most of what they had.
He spent a few weeks introducing designs for small, durable items, while Chancellor Lumin worked on slowly disseminating the truth of the apocalypse to the masses... or at least, the version she'd derived from Kir's truthful explanation, which omitted quite a few details.
