Late in the afternoon, as the darkness of night had draped the world in its shadowy veil, the city lights were the last to resist. The city stood at the heart of a vast, open plain, illuminated by a wide, full moon, bathing their world in near-daylight.
In the council hall, all the clan leaders were present, as well as their precious allies — the children of the Cursed Serpent. All had gathered for a final clarification meeting before launching the long-awaited Raids.
Cliff stood at the center, surrounded by a makeshift round table assembled from massive wooden planks. The clan symbols had been hastily carved into it: Ibara, Orleth, Dhakat, Styra, Xarus, Orion, Shizukesa... All gathered, attentive to his next words.
The last seats were taken. Silence fell.
Cliff raised his eyes. His gaze swept across the room.
"Thank you for coming."
