Wei An, scolded by Sister Xinwu, lifted his head with red-rimmed eyes, looking at her aggrievedly.
Everyone around, moved by his appearance, couldn't help but interject, "Xin Wu, you're all grown up, how old is Wei An? Should an adult really be quibbling with a child like this?"
Sister Xinwu was furiously enraged, "I'm quibbling? You all are really funny, who randomly came into my house acting all high and mighty and oppressive?"
Sister Xinwu's words could be said to be a sweeping attack. Most of the neighbors had been there for many years, many older and more senior than Xin Wu. Now, put in their place by her, they were embarrassed to respond.
The atmosphere at the scene immediately turned awkward, with some feeling they might indeed have been meddling too much. Wei An was known for causing trouble in the courtyard, and usually they wouldn't have engaged in such spectacle.
