The little creature ahead led the way, taking Xiao Chen straight to an ancient tree. That towering tree stretched into the clouds, its massive crown bearing down upon several surrounding mountain peaks. Dense branches and leaves rustled in the wind, the green divine leaves shimmering with spots of light.
They reached the base of the giant tree and entered directly through a withered hollow in the roots. Xiao Chen, not at all worried, followed closely behind. The passage twisted and turned, mainly spiraling downwards.
The tree hollow extended deep underground, clearly a naturally formed hollow by the withered giant roots. Exiting the root hollow, beneath was a chaotic underground cavern network with interlacing paths connecting to many large stone caves, as complex as an underground labyrinth.
