Chapter 136 - Chapter 135 The Lightning Rod.

Karna looked at the skies and counted the Lacrimas surrounding Magnolia.

"Alright then," he spoke out loud as he drew the bowstring. He knew he had to make it perfect, as the arrows must strike all the Lacrimas at the same time. If not, it would only lengthen the time it remained inside him—and so would his suffering if it did not work.

[Thousand Zakura: Circular Targeted Strike]

Karna spoke slowly as he released the arrow, which flew into the sky in a straight line, glowing golden and drawing the attention of everyone watching from a distance.

Laxus, sitting inside the church, was surprised to see a golden glow at the center of the city.

'Karna,' he deduced immediately as he recognized it as an arrow ascending. But the moment it shattered in a small explosion and sent out hundreds of arrows toward every Lacrima, his eyes widened in surprise and fear.

"What the hell are you doing? Are you looking to die?!" Laxus screamed in worry, knowing that Karna was about to be hit by the combined power of the Lacrimas he had created throughout the years. But it was too late—he had no way to stop it now.

Erza and Mira, who were running around to save others, were also staring wide-eyed at what was happening.

"Damn it, you bastard!" Cana cried out but was unable to do anything, biting her lip in frustration.

Makarov had a dark expression as he clenched his staff tightly.

'I'm gonna break that brat's bones for pulling this kind of shit—if he comes back alive.'

Porlyusica pursed her lips in anger. With her experience using magical items due to her lack of magical container organs, she knew very well what kind of Lacrimas were in the sky and using the communicators connected to the guild, she was also able to find out the penalty of breaking them.

Ur's eyes were wide, while Ultear's face showed extreme shock at what they were witnessing.

Within milliseconds, all the arrows struck the Lacrimas simultaneously.

For a moment, there was complete silence. The people of Magnolia watched, unable to understand what was happening. Some were excited, expecting a show as the announcement had promised earlier. Meanwhile, the wizards of Fairy Tail, including the Thunder Legion, watched in silence, anticipating what was going to happen next.

BOOOOOOM!!!!

SWREEEE!!!

A loud explosion was followed by a shrill sound, and suddenly, a pillar of yellow golden lightning appeared in the center of the city, stretching into the skies, painting the entire of town in a light brighter than the sun itself. For a moment, there was silence—and then suddenly...

GRAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!

A roar spread through the entire city, startling almost every individual present. They had never heard that voice before in their lives, yet just that sound alone made them recall legends of creatures that once ruled the world—beings who were unstoppable to anyone who dared to fight them. Though they had been reduced to mere stories told by parents to scare their children, at that moment, they knew they were hearing the roar of one such being.

Karna screamed the moment the lightning started coursing through his body, but luckily for him, no one could hear it over the crackling of the lightning itself.

He immediately used the armor to absorb the lightning magic surging through him—and it worked. The armor functioned in tandem with his core, ensuring that the lightning was converted into pure Etherion that flowed into him.

But within seconds, the energy overflowed.

'Damn it, Laxus, how much energy did you put into these things? Looks like you spent a decade creating this shit.' Karna cursed internally while trying to suppress the enormous power struggling to break free and destroy him. He felt like he was about to explode into nothingness.

'Damn it.' Karna pushed himself to use the magic surging into him to strengthen his body so he could handle the energy, but the sheer volume of power vastly outpaced his rate of strengthening. The more he strengthened himself ,the strain of the power multiplied by dozens within the next moment and the cycle kept on repeating. For a moment, he thought he was going to die.

Then, suddenly, he felt movement throughout his entire body.

At first, he was confused, but then he understood—another evolution was happening to the armor. And this time, with such an immense energy source, the transformation would be even more significant. Since he was connected to the armor in an almost symbiotic manner, it would affect him as well.

The dragon form of the armor separated slightly and roared at the skies as it evolved. Karna could feel the energy coursing through him becoming more controllable. Something inside him had deeply changed. The armor itself was transforming—shrinking, becoming denser, stronger. At the same time, he felt it growing lighter than it was before.

For a moment, he couldn't understand what was happening—the two changes contradicted each other. A denser structure should not have either increased or decreased the weight itself.

Then he felt it—a new affinity awakening within him. The massive amount of lightning that had been absorbed into the armor had infused it with the power of the lightning element, granting Karna a lightning affinity as well.

Before, Karna could use lightning arrows, but only within the limits of his archery. Now, with an innate lightning element, he would be able to accomplish much more than ever before. The weight-reducing ability of his armor was just one example of the many ways he could utilize lightning in the future. And yet, he felt like he was only scratching the surface of his newfound abilities.

By then, the lightning attack had ended, and the people watching the screens could finally see what remained at the center of the pillar of light they had witnessed moments ago.
