"So what have you agreed on?" he asked in a voice he couldn't recognize as coming from him.
As he watched Grace rise from her seat and walk towards him, his pulse quickened inexplicably.
His eyes traced every step she took, her grace and poise captivating him beyond words.
And as she got closer, his breath hitched and he could almost feel her warmth.
He leaned forward slightly, waiting to hear the words that he's been hearing in his dreams every night since he met her.
And when she finally said the words he so desperately wanted to hear, his heart almost jumped out of his chest and the thought of finally having her by his side momentarily immobilized him.
"Yes, Trent, I will be with you," she said, her voice soft and yielding.
Gradually, he felt the triumph, the satisfaction of having won and reached out to wrap her in a warm embrace in the place where she rightfully belonged… his heart. But all of a sudden, reality snapped him back like a harsh slap to the face.
