Vlad glanced at the notifications that appeared after his Civilization finally Leveled Up.
Ding!
[Congratulations! Your Governor and Civilization Levels have increased, further increasing the size of your Territory and allowing for more space to place Facilities, Houses, and more.]
[Your [Territory Governor Level] has Ranked Up from [Ruined Prince: Lv0] to [Sickly Prince: Lv1]!]
[All of your Stats have increased by +5.000!]
[With each Level of your Governor Level, All the Stats of all the Troops you Command directly as a General in battle will increase by +1!]
[With each Level of your Governor Level, the Happiness of your Citizens and their satisfaction with you increase by 10%!]
[Your [Territory Civilization Level] has Ranked Up from [Ruined Civilization: Lv0] to [Young Civilization: Lv1]!]
[Your Civilization Power has increased by 300!]
[You have unlocked a few new Facilities you can build now.]
[You can now Level Up several Facilities up to Level 3.]
[The more Power your Civilization has, the better the amount of resources produced and the strength of your troops in general will become, alongside increasing the vitality and lifespan of your citizens and improving their talents and skills.]
He went from Ruined Prince to Sickly Prince, which wasn't much of an upgrade, but it granted him bonus stats for some reason!
Above all, he was also able to learn a couple of other things, such as that with each level as a governor, his troops, which he personally commanded, would increase their Stats, all of them, by 1!
A single stat in Combat Power, Vitality, and Movement Speed was insane; according to what he had calculated, his troops could now be twice as strong as before, or even more now.
Additionally, he learned what Civilization Power was for, increasing everything towards both his citizens and his troops passively, although it didn't specify how much exactly.
For being mostly an action, hunting, and crafting-focused game where players had to hunt monsters, craft items from their corpses, and progress through a world forging their own story, Paul was quite shocked at how deep the Civilization System was.
"Damn, this is… a lot."
As he looked at the notifications and thought they were over, suddenly, more of them appeared in front of him, surprising him.
Ding!
[Because you have reached Level 1 as a Governor, you can now see the Trust and Loyalty Levels of all your Citizens and Troops.]
[Additionally, because your Civilization has reached Level 1, you can now assign Vassals for your Civilization, which will improve your Civilization's overall growth in a variety of ways based on their own talents and special abilities.]
[To assign a Citizen or Soldier as a Vassal, Trust Level must be 100 or above! Once a vassal is assigned, based on their Loyalty Level, their Stats will increase exponentially, and they will also Awaken new Traits, Skills, and Titles.]
[Number of Vassals you can Assign: 0/10]
[Every time you Level Up your Governor Level or Civilization Level, your maximum amount of Vassals will increase by a certain amount.]
"W-Wait, what?! This is amazing!"
Paul screamed so loudly he ended up scaring the little Artemis, who was still munching at her eggshells.
"Gryeeeh?!"
"A-Ah, sorry, sorry."
As he patted her head, he realized she was fluffy, covered in soft white hair.
"Oh, you're really fluffy, huh? I guess you're the hairy kind of spider."
"Kyuuh…"
Artemis ended up licking his hand, as Paul found her adorable, despite being a giant, creepy spider.
Although…
"Ah…"
He saw that his hand was slowly beginning to burn, his skin turned purple, and he felt slightly dizzy.
"Ah yeah, poison, huh?"
He quickly drank a few Antidote Potions he had stored inside his inventory, and the poison slowly receded, mostly thanks to his incredible regeneration abilities.
But most people would've died right there…
"Don't let her lick you, or you'll die, by the way…"
As he walked back towards his friends, who were chatting about several things, Chris quickly flew to his side.
"So what did you get? We heard you screaming all the way here."
They were actually sitting around a small, black-colored metallic table on small wooden seats while drinking some sort of sweet juice from the fruits harvested in the spirit farms.
Recently, Chris had begun trying to cook in this game, and he had become progressively better at it, although he had yet to obtain a Cooking Skill.
He mostly did it out of boredom in between important things, and making juice was pretty easy, all things considered.
"So…"
Paul explained to them his new abilities, leaving them quite surprised.
"So you can assign Vassals, and they'll gain power? That's interesting," Chris said. "But how does that even work? Can you see who is available for that position? You better not choose some random dude."
"Nah, they need to have a Trust Level of 100 to even be allowed to become a vassal… I think I can check that in here." Paul tapped the status showing the Civilization System and quickly found what he was looking for.
[Alitheus Lilithie: Trust Level 100]
[Teressa Von Sange: Trust Level 100]
[Camilla Von Sange: Trust Level 100]
[Insecta: Trust Level 100]
[Corpse-Eating Crimson Beetle x250: Trust Level 100]
[Heracles: Trust Level 92]
[Gofumina: Trust Level 72]
[Argentia: Trust Level 66]
[Ashtaya (Goblin): Trust Level 60]
[Memenine (Goblin): Trust Level 59]
[Kentauros (Orc Soldier): Trust Level 50]
[Silvian (Dhampir Soldier): Trust Level 44]
[…]
"Oh, the list is long; it goes for hundreds of pages… But after it seems the majority of the citizens have an average trust level between twenty and thirty… It isn't as low as I imagined." Paul analyzed. "Despite how little I have interacted with any of them…"
"Maybe due to rumors and how you're handling the city, their trust in you has increased naturally!" Ermelinda said. "Do I appear there?"
"Oh no, you don't," Paul said. "I think it's because you aren't a citizen from this city… You come from Fantasia after all. Where was your character born?"
"A-Ah… She was born in some small village in the Verdant Woods called Evergrace," Ermelinda explained. "Yeah, I must still have my citizenship in that place… But can I join yours?"
"If you want to join so badly, I don't see why not…" Paul nodded. "Now how do I even do this though? Um, add Ermelinda as a citizen."
Ding!
[You have sent a Citizenship Request to [Player: Ermelinda]!]
[Awaiting approval…]
"Oh! I got a notification! So that's how it works? It says that if I become a citizen and I start working, I need to pay… taxes?!"
Even Players had to pay their taxes.
