0 - The Chronicles of Cresbel - (Read If you're interested about the world at all.)

From the writings of Grand Scholar Edric Vael, High Archivist of the Crescent Athenaeum.

Cresbel—a realm of boundless magic and ambitions, where mortals shape the course of history. Across its vast expanse, twenty great lands stand, each unique in its beauty, danger, and power. From the Scorching Sands of Xan'Zirath, where eternal flames consume the land, to the Frozen Wasteland of Everfrost Hollow, where only the strongest endure the harsh winter, Cresbel is a world ruled by those bold enough to seize destiny.

The Twenty Great Lands of Cresbel

1. The Scorching Sands of Xan'Zirath

A land of endless deserts where flames erupt from beneath the sands, igniting infernos that never fade. It is home to the Fireborn clans and the legendary city of molten gold.

2. The Frozen Wasteland of Everfrost Hollow

A land trapped in eternal winter, where ice covers the ground thicker than mountains. It is a place where the dead do not stay dead, and whispers of ancient frost giants remain.

3. The Stormfront Isles

A fragmented land where thunderstorms rage without end. The people of these floating isles have tamed the skies, sailing grand airships between their storm-shrouded cities.

4. The Abyssal Depths of Varethor

A dark abyss of endless oceans, where forgotten ruins and monstrous sea creatures lie hidden beneath the waves. Those who dare venture too deep are never seen again.

5. The Verdant Expanse of Sylvaria

A land where nature itself is alive, growing beyond mortal comprehension. It is ruled by elves who walk as one with the forests.

6. The Obsidian Spires of Duskmoor

A land where blackened mountains pierce the heavens, rich in dark magic and forbidden knowledge. It is a sanctuary for those who practice the arts of death and wish for forbidden knowledge.

7. The Blighted Lands of Morvaine

A cursed region where the ground rots and the air carries whispers of the damned. It is said that no living thing can survive long in its presence.

8. The Celestial Highlands of Astraea

A place of floating islands and radiant light, where divine beings are said to walk among mortals. The heavens seem closer here, and those who enter often feel the weight of unseen eyes.

9. The Crimson Fields of Valerion

A land forever soaked in the blood of warriors, where battle is a way of life and warlords carve their names into history through steel and fire.

10. The Umbral Veil of Nyxterra

A land of eternal twilight, where shadow magic flourishes. It is a place of assassins, spies, and forgotten horrors lurking just beyond sight.

11. The Toxin Wasteland of Tyranor

A once-thriving land, now abandoned, left to rot under the shadow of a mad scientist's twisted experiments. He used people as test subjects, pushing the boundaries of science until catastrophe struck. A single mistake—an accident or perhaps his final act of madness—unleashed countless vials of volatile toxins, seeping into the soil, poisoning the rivers, and warping the very air itself. What remains is a forsaken wasteland, a realm of death where no life can flourish, and where those who dare to enter risk sharing the same fate as the land itself.

12. The Ember Peaks of Drakathar

A volcanic region ruled by dragons and their descendants. The air is thick with fire and smoke, and the mountains tremble with the roars of beasts.

13. The Shifting Isles of Vaelith

A land where reality bends, where illusions become real and dreams shape the landscape. It is a place where few dare tread, for even the mind cannot be trusted.

14. The Ruined Kingdom of Orpheon

Once a thriving empire, now reduced to nothing but rubble. A nameless catastrophe erased its people, leaving behind only echoes of their suffering.

15. The Golden Dominion of Amon'Thul

A land of unrivaled wealth, where gold flows like water and ambition knows no bounds. But beneath its shimmering facade, betrayal is a constant game.

16. The Whispering Marshes of Celestara

A land where spirits walk, whispering secrets and tempting souls to their doom. The boundaries between life and death are thin here.

17. The Starborn Realm of Zephiron

A kingdom said to have ascended to the skies, where warriors wield the power of the cosmos itself. Their empire is unseen, yet their influence is felt across Cresbel.

18. The Eternal Grove of Sylvaris

A land untouched by time, where ancient magic preserves everything in its prime. Some say even the dead may live again within its sacred trees.

19. The Riftlands of Lysandra

A shattered land where time and space unravel, where moments slip between past and future, and those who enter may never return to their own era.

20. The Blooming Expanse of Blossom's Bloom

A land of breathtaking beauty, where nature flourishes in abundance. But behind its serene landscape, conflicts brew in silence, and two fates are destined to collide.

21. The Eternal Grove

A realm veiled in myth, the Eternal Grove is said to exist in whispers and legends, though none who have sought it have ever returned with proof. Its very existence remains a mystery, shrouded in uncertainty. Yet, one Pillar boldly claims that his origins lie within its fabled depths, an enigmatic figure whose presence defies explanation.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Throughout the millennia, many have sought ultimate mastery over magic, but only seventeen beings have ever reached the pinnacle—attaining Grandmastery of six or more elements. These figures, known as the Seventeen Pillars, were more than kings or conquerors. They were legends, their very existence rewriting the future of the world itself.

Their names are eternal, their legacies unshakable.

1. Eryndor the Celestial Sage

Elements: Light, Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, Lightning, Space, Creation, Destruction.

A scholar-king who harnessed both destruction and creation. His wisdom birthed an age of enlightenment, but his downfall came when he reached for immortality.

2. Kaelith the Storm Reaver

Elements: Lightning, Water, Wind, Ice, Shadow, Earth, Summoning.

The warlord of the Tempest Isles, an Isles that no longer exists. Kaelith's power could summon hurricanes capable of sinking continents. His thirst for battle was unmatched, and he died with a sword in hand.

3. Nyxara the Void Whisperer

Elements: Shadow, Void Arts, Blood, Soul, Time, Ice, Poison.

Feared above all others, Nyxara was the first Pillar to wield the forbidden Void Arts without succumbing to death. Legends claim she still exists, lurking beyond the veil of time.

4. Orion the Blazing Tyrant

Elements: Dragon-Flames, Dragon-Lightning, Blood, Explosions, Metal, Wind.

A ruler whose wrath burned so fiercely that an entire kingdom turned to ash in a single night. His flames were said to be hotter than the sun itself.

5. Sylvaris the Verdant Sovereign

Elements: Nature, Water, Wind, Earth, Light, Soul, Summoning, Life.

The guardian of the Eternal Grove, Sylvaris could breathe life into barren lands and command the very forests to rise in his defense. His kingdom still flourishes, untouched by time. Yet, lives unknown to the world.

6. Valeria the Blood Empress

Elements: Blood, Soul, Fire, Ice, Shadow, Time, Curse.

A vampiric queen whose mere presence was enough to freeze men's hearts with both terror and beauty. She bathed in the blood of her enemies to extend her rule for centuries until facing death at the hands of Morvaine.

7. Zephiron the Skyborn Monarch

Elements: Wind, Lightning, Space, Gravity, Metal, Fire, Water.

A warrior-king who ruled the skies, capable of conjuring storms that could reshape continents. His empire vanished, never to be seen again.

8. Morvaine the Undying Prophet

Elements: Death, Soul, Time, Space, Rot, Blood, Gravity.

A being who had a heart of a dragon, and who transcended mortality, bound by neither time nor fate. His followers believed he was a god, and some whisper that he still walks among the living.

9. Azrael the Phantom Blade

Elements: Sword's Will, Shadow, Space, Gravity, Wind, Time, Dragon-Lightning.

The only warrior to blend the Sword's Will with magic, Azrael could cut through anything within the world and appear wherever he wished. His sword, still lost in time.

10. Lysandra the Frostborn Saint

Elements: Dragon-Ice, Water, Light, Life, Summoning, lightning, Gravity.

Revered as both a healer and a warrior, Lysandra's frozen kingdom remains untouched by time. Her presence was as soothing as it was terrifying.

11. Draven the Black Sun

Elements: Dragon-Flames, Shadow, Blood, Soul Curses, Explosion, Soul, Space.

A fallen deity whose flames burned darker than night itself. He sought to consume the sun, but instead, he was devoured by his own power.

12. Vaelith the Dreamwalker

Elements: Time Alteration, Space Configuration, Reality Bend, Dream manipulation, Void Arts, Spirit-Flames, Gravity.

A mysterious figure who could control reality itself. Some say he never truly existed, that he was merely a dream shared by Cresbel itself.

13. Tyranor the Crimson Behemoth

Elements: Fire, Earth, Blood, Metal, Explosion, Gravity, Nature.

A monstrous warrior who stood taller than castles. It took an entire army just to bring him to his knees, but even then, he laughed as he fell. No official reports of his death, yet no sightings either.

14. Celene the Starborn Sorceress

Elements: Space, Light, Time, Gravity, Summoning, Wind, Spirit-Water.

A celestial being who claimed to have descended from the stars. Her spells could summon entire constellations to rain destruction upon her foes.

15. Orpheon the Abyssal Harbinger

Elements: Void Arts, Shadows, Soul, Blood, Curse, Death, Gravity.

A being feared even by demons, and gods alike. Orpheon's very existence was a curse upon the world. No records of his death exist—only warnings never to speak his name.

It is said that these beings did not fear him for his power alone, but for his perfect and flawless mastery over the elements he controlled. His control was so perfect that no being who lived after him has ever come close to matching it since his final appearance in the world.

16. Elowen the Radiant Valkyrie

Elements: Light, Wind, Summoning, A will blessed by the gods, Nature, Water, Gravity.

A warrior who led armies blessed by the gods. It is said she ascended to the heavens rather than perished.

17. Amon the Tyrant of Ruin

Elements: Dragon-Flames, Spirit-Explosions, Metal, Earth, Shadow, Time, Space, Contract with an evil god.

The final and most ruthless of the Pillars. A conqueror whose ambition knew no limits. Some say he sought to become a god, while others claim he succeeded.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

There existed yet another figure—one who stood among these legends, yet never bore the title of a Pillar. Not out of weakness compared to the others, but because he possessed no magic, no divine gifts, no inherited bloodline—nothing but sheer strength and an unbreakable will.

18. The Nameless One.

Elements: None.

A man without magic, divine blessings, or anything. Yet he stood above kings, slayed monsters, and defied the laws of Cresbel itself. His strength alone shattered mountains, his will bent the tides of fate, and his fists broke through even the hardest dragon scales. Entire armies, human and non-human alike, fell before him. Even the gods turned their gaze upon him, yet none could claim victory over him since birth.

Fearing his existence, an alliance unlike any before was forged—dragons, elves, spirits, humans, and beings of other races set aside their feuds, uniting under one cause: his death.

That night, the battlefield was drenched in blood, but not his. Not a single warrior remained standing. The greatest armies of the age were reduced to lifeless husks, their strongest champions scattered like dust in the wind. Dragons laid dead, their necks appeared to be ripped from their bodies.

On that same night, The Nameless One vanished without a trace. No body. No legacy. Only whispers remain of the lone warrior who defied all odds, with nothing but the strength he forged with his bare hands. Forbidding himself from using weapons as he felt it would be unfair to his enemies.

Power in Cresbel does not manifest in a singular form. There exist five distinct paths to supremacy, each with its own dangers and rewards.

Magic – The most widespread and dominant force, bound to the soul. To lose one's magic is to forfeit life itself.

Sword's Will – A warrior's path, where mastery of the blade can defy even the strongest of spells. Yet, chains shall be bounded to ones heart.

Divine Contracts – Power bestowed by gods, bound by rules that must never be broken.

Bloodline Legacy – Abilities inherited through ancient bloodlines.

Void Arts – A force that consumes all, including its wielder. Feared, outlawed, and forgotten.

Vows - Unknown.

History moves in cycles. Empires fall, and new ones rise. Legends fade, and new names carve themselves into eternity.

The Seventeen Pillars are gone. But power does not vanish—it merely waits.

That is the world of Cresbel. A world where power reigns supreme... if you're blessed enough.
