Kakashi, "There you are Tanna - chan."
Tanna looked up, "Kakashi - Sensei and you brought a guest."
Kakashi, "This here is Jiraiya."
Tanna, "Wait a bit."
Kakashi, "Where are you going?"
Tanna gave an impish grin, "To tell Anko - chan and Yoshino - chan their peeking pervert is here."
Jiraiya spluttered, "N... Now, hold on there, young lady. Let's not pick violence on the first meeting."
Tanna, "Oh no! I do not hate you if that is what you are wondering. I just promised the girls I will tell them if you came around. I am not one to make promises lightly and when I do make them I keep them one way or other."
Kakashi, "I see, that's where Naruto gets it from then."
Jiraiya, "Oh come on! I will give you a signed copy of Icha Icha."
Tanna, "I have honestly read better and more interesting porn. So no thanks."
Jiraiya scowled, "Are you talking about that new author called Travelling Genshin who writes about all the gay, lesbian and straight couples?"
Tanna, "Yes, I personally love Amber x Eula and Razor x Bennett a lot. They are so cute and perfect for each other."
Kakashi, "Huh! I prefer Jean x Lisa. They are a power couple."
Tanna, "Ku fu fu fu! Right? Porn with plot."
Jiraiya gaped, "The betrayal! How could you Kakashi?"
Kakashi raised his hands, "What? Jean is a no nonsense, hard working woman and Lisa is a voluptuous and mischievous woman. I get two beautiful attractive ladies in one, who would not read that."
Tanna nodded, "Exactly!"
Jiraiya scowled, "I can write two women at the same time too. Just you watch, my next book will out sell that Teyvat Love."
Tanna, "Those are fighting words. I look forward to it then."
Jiraiya, "Humph!"
Tanna, "Ah! Yoshino - san, Mikoto - san, your peeping Tom is back."
Jiraiya, "H.. H... Hey, what was that for?"
Tanna, "Sorry Jiraiya but I made a promise."
"JIRAIYA YOU PERVERT!"
Jiraiya high tailed it out of there while Kakashi hid his amused smile behind his book and watched as the kunoichi ran after the Sannin. Tanna was a chaos creator in her own civilian way and it never hurt anyone so it was very enjoyable to watch, as long as you were not the target. It was another thing Naruto picked up from her, while he did not openly prank people the shinobi knew it was him when certain individuals found their items in different eye blinding colors or covered in sticky mud or smelling really rotten. The intensity of the pranks depended on how much Naruto was angered though he did not attack people directly, the little blond minx found ways to exact revenge on others.
Tanna, "So, I am guessing you are a clone and the real one is with the kids."
Kakashi nodded, "Yes, however I told Jiraiya I would introduce you to him. Hence the reason we are here."
Tanna hummed, "Why so suddenly? The man if the rumors are true is a top notch spy for Konoha. Unless there was something about my family you figured out."
Kakashi, "Yes, a bit. You and him, you are kind of related. Not through blood, mind you more like through marriage."
Tanna stared blank faced, "That is a very interesting development. I was honestly not expecting that."
Kakashi, "What were you expecting?"
Tanna, "That you found Naruto's grandfather and dragged him here."
Kakashi snorted, "I wish but sadly both grandparents died during the second war."
Tanna, "That's a shame. Naruto once dreamed about having a grandparent that he could sit with during winter and share stories."
Kakashi, "They were shinobi as well, Tanna - chan. As you know, shinobi lives are unpredictable."
Tanna, "I know. What about the forest? The destruction caused by the fire must have been severe."
Kakashi, "It is being ruled as a self defense actually. It has been two days since that fire, the kids should be receiving the results of their second test now."
Tanna, "Right the finals are a tournament style match right? I wonder how they will do and against what obstacle."
Kakashi, "Ah! You are back Jiraiya."
Jiraiya looked alright though he was sweating from running around, "You, you are a little shit. You know that?"
Tanna, "Thank you very much."
Jiraiya, "Not a compliment."
Tanna, "Still proud of it."
Jiraiya, "Anyway, Kakashi did you tell her?"
Tanna, "That we are related through our predecessors by marriage making us cousins who knows how many times removed? Yes, yes he did. It was not what I expected but it could be worse."
Jiraiya, "Yeah, I came by to make sure you are secured. I heard about your physical problem but you need not worry. As one of the three Sannin I still have influence and some pulls."
Tanna, "I appreciate it but I would prefer it more if you kept my younger brother safe."
Jiraiya's eyes had a complicated emotion in them, "Yeah, I heard about you adopting the blond kid. Is it true that you punched the person in charge of the orphanage?"
Tanna, "That's some rumor. No, I did not, I was more concerned about keeping Naruto safe instead of paying attention to that witch from hell."
Kakashi, "She did however gave her a very good verbal lashing. It was well deserved if you ask me."
Tanna, "I suppose I did but it was mostly because my flabbers were very gasted."
Kakashi, "In your own words, it is an orphanage so orphans should be the ones living there not a grown adult like her."
Tanna nodded, "It was just pathetic how she tried to make herself look better by picking on children. Tsk! I am so glad Mikoto got rid of that idiot."
Jiraiya started to laugh, "I like you girlie. In the beginning I was not sure we could get along but looks like we can."
Tanna, "Sure, let's get along then."
Kakashi, "Hmm.. I will be off then. See ya!"
The clone popped leaving leaves behind while Jiraiya and Tanna headed to the lounge where the younger one placed the teapot on the stove. She took out some of the cookies she made and placed it on a tray and started to ask the older man a few generic questions. When did he become a shinobi? Before she was born, she should call her Uncle he looked old enough. The toad Sannin protested saying he was not that old, just hitting his mid forties. Tanna snorted saying her father would be the same age as him if he were still around. That made Jiraiya hum then look around noticing the many photos that were hung on the walls of the brunette's cubicle.
Jiraiya, "These are your students."
Tanna, "From different years. Those are the last pictures taken before they graduated either as shinobi or some other profession."
Jiraiya looked around, "Yes, I have heard they are encouraging the kids to learn other stuff nowadays. You created the Klingon text we use as code."
Tanna sighed, "It was meant to be a story for Naruto but yes, you could say I did. But in all honesty I just made it accessible this text existed before me. Sadly people have just forgotten about it."
Jiraiya, "I think you are doing a great job bringing it to light again. I believe every kid gets a copy of your tales when they join the Academy."
Tanna, "Yes, they seem to enjoy reading about Star Trek. I only made six novels about it however. Each book covering a different time in the person's life."
Jiraiya, "I read them."
Tanna stared, "All of them?"
Jiraiya, "Yes, you got quite the imagination girlie, alien biology, half alien, half human and everything in between. The story however seems to be copying the politics of Fire Country."
Tanna shrugged, "I am not a politician you know? I had to copy something and as long as it is not another person's work there is no problem."
Jiraiya, "True, you know these books are censored outside Konoha."
Tanna, "I am aware yes."
Jiraiya, "The brats are back."
Tanna, "Oh? I thought they would go home first not come to the Academy."
Ino, "Tanna Sensei!"
Naruto, "Nee - Chan."
Kiba, "Yo Sensei, we are here... Who are you?"
Sakura frowned, "What are you doing with Sensei?"
Tenten, "You better not be up to anything."
Jiraiya, "Woah! Woah! Woah! I am here to talk to your Sensei about training one of you."
Kuroda, "What does that mean?"
Jiraiya, "Let me introduce myself, I am Jiraiya the great toad sage and writer of Icha Icha Paradise."
Hinata, "That book... You are the writer."
Sai, "Is something wrong with it?"
Shikamaru, "It's boring after the first excitement fades. There is no variety whatsoever."
Jiraiya, "How dare you! Ooof! Hey!"
Tanna deadpanned as she held the paper roll she used, "That's enough of your antics old man. You said you were offering teachings to some or one of them."
Jiraiya, "Right I heard there was a Seal prodigy among you. I am here to teach them a more advanced art of sealing."
Sasuke, "You are here for Naruto."
Naruto, "Exactly how good are you?"
Tanna sighed, "He taught the Yondaime."
Naruto froze, "This Pervy sage?"
Jiraiya, "Oi! Oi! What's with the insult?"
Naruto, "I am not deaf Pervy sage. Jiraiya is a well known peeping Tom around the bathroom house."
Tanna, "The choice at the end is yours to make Naruto. Mind you, the Chunnin exams are still going on. You can become a full time apprentice after the exam too. Speaking of which how was the exams and result?"
Sakura, "Naruto and Sasuke cleared to the third test. I lost to Karin."
Sasuke, "Despite being timid she was a strong fighter."
Naruto, "Sakura was offered a full fledged apprenticeship at the hospital though. She is becoming a medic."
Tanna, "I see, good job you three. I am impressed."
Tenten, "Neji cleared the rounds. Lee and I lost to the sand siblings. Neji is checking on Lee. I just wanted to come here and tell you the result. I will be heading to the hospital now, Sensei."
Tanna, "I understand. I will visit tomorrow if that is alright."
Sakura, "I will go with you Tenten. I need to report in anyway."
Tenten, "Thank you."
Tanna, 'So, the infamous fight happened after all. Sakura fighting against Karin is new though.'
Chouji, "Shikamaru and Ino are going to the next round. He is with Asuma Sensei right now."
Ino, "I plan on training with my Dad on the clan jutsu more. We will get going too Sensei."
Tanna, "Good job getting to next round. Do not fret much Chouji. There is next year and you have time."
Kiba, "Shino is the only one going ahead in our team. Hinata and I lost to Ino and Naruto."
Hinata blushed, "I was not expecting her to use sleeping powder made of flowers. My mistake for underestimating her."
Tanna, "A lesson not to be forgotten easily in the future. Anything can become a weapon."
Kuroda, "Shin and Jotaro are heading to the next round, as I lost to Sasuke and Sai would never truly hurt Shin. Actually I am not sure he took the exams seriously to begin with."
Jotaro, "I will do my best."
Kiba grinned giving him a side hug, "That's my cousin for you. Watch out though, next Chunnin exam I am winning."
Jotaro, "Yeah."
Jiraiya gave a whistle, "Not bad gakis, not bad at all. I am impressed so many of you cleared to the next round."
Tanna, "I agree, the number of Genin is more then last year."
Ino, "Anko - Sensei said the same thing."
Sai, "Anko - Sensei likes Tanna - Sensei, she is always talking about their dango dates."
Tanna snorted and they talked a bit more before Tanna announced she would hold a lunch party for them once Lee recovered enough to be discharged. The kids perked up and promised to tell their fellow teammates and left with their Senseis who came to pick them up. They were worried when the kids did not turn up at their respective houses though they should have guessed where they would be. Naruto was the only one who stated back for obvious reasons while Sasuke and Kakashi left to head to the Uchiha compound. The raven haired boy was excited to tell his family the news and dreading the hug attacks Shisui had said he would give him.
Naruto, "I think I will train with you after the exams, Pervy sage."
Jiraiya, "Are you planning on training under Kakashi then?"
Naruto, "No, I am training with Yugao - Sensei for the exam. Her dance style kenjutsu suit me really well."
Jiraiya whistled, "That's impressive, well I will give you a higher level chakra control exercise then."
Naruto paused, "I thought water walking was highest."
Jiraiya, "For most shinobi, but you... Actually have you checked your elemental affinity yet?"
Naruto nodded, "When my first D - rank became a higher rank mission. Sensei wanted us to start learning jutsus according to our elements."
Jiraiya, "I see. Has there been any news on that front?"
Tanna, "They caught a few people mislabeling their missions. But considering their financial state..... "
Naruto, "Nee - chan suggested a loan system for the poorer clients to burrow for the missions. It seems to be working for now."
Tanna, "I only suggested it. I leave the main work to the Naras."
Jiraiya chuckled, "I see. Dump work on those who can do it."
Tanna, "I have my hands full with these little ones."
Naruto squeaked at the hair ruffle, "Nee - Chan, not my hair. It is still a mess."
Tanna, "Let's go home then. You coming old man? We have a free room."
Jiraiya, "I'm not that old."
Naruto, "Yeah nee - chan, he looks ancient not old."
Tanna laughed while Jiraiya screamed with outrage at the audacity coming from the blond though he took the offer. The man eyed the building, it was one of those that Uzumaki Mito had gifted Kushina in the hopes more Uzumaki survived. The two moved on the top floor while the rest were filled with young adults who were either shinobi or simple workers. Jiraiya was not judging however, it was always a good idea to have a good reputation with the people around them. From the looks of it the tenants seem to adore both Tanna and Naruto, if the happy greetings were anything to go by.
Tanna, "Here we are. It is not as fancy as the clan homes but it is our home."
Jiraiya, "I am not one to complain so do not worry about it."
Tanna nodded, "I am going to prepare dinner for three of us. We need to talk."
Naruto has already went ahead to clean up while Tanna washed in her own bathroom before starting to prepare dinner. Once the food was made, which was rice with meat and vegetable curry plus sweet fruit salad for desert. Tanna started to question Jiraiya about his reasoning as to why was he interested in Naruto. To be honest, Tanna was hoping Jiraiya would tell Naruto he was his Godfather, the kid could use having a family member. Of course she would always be there for him but having another person would be great too. Naruto stared at the older man with questioning eyes as well and wondering why one of the Sannin would be interested in a Genin.
Jiraiya sighed, "Honestly, it was Hokage - sama who told me about you and your potential as a seal expert."
Tanna, "I see."
Naruto muttered, "I do not need favouritism from him that leaves a bitter taste in my mouth."
Jiraiya, "It is not, brat. He just informed me and I just observed your seals and tested them to decide if you would be a good student or not."
Naruto, "Oh! That's good then, I want to become strong on my own merit."
Tanna, "That's fine Naru - tan, just remember there is nothing wrong in asking for help from others. It means you understand your limits and are responsible."
Naruto nodded and talked with Jiraiya a bit more, the older man agreed to watch and guide some part of the training but he would not interfere. Naruto was fine by that and he would be lying if he said he was not interested in the new chakra technique Jiraiya showed. To make the ball burst using nothing but chakra and create the infamous attack of the Yondaime, his father. Nee - chan had told him the truth, or rather guided him to find the truth after he had become an official Genin. So, knowing he was learning something from his father's made him feel very happy in a way. He did not resent what his father did, they were in a time crunch and there were not many options aside from him being born in the battlefield.
Tanna, "See you later."
Naruto, "Take care nee - chan."
Jiraiya, "Say I heard you were engaged to the younger Uchiha."
Naruto, "Ah! That was the promise between my mom and Mikoto obaasan. I don't mind, Sasuke is my best friend and I trust him with my life."
Jiraiya, "Hmm.. I see. What about your nee - chan? What does she think?"
Naruto, "Nee - chan is sad that my mom and dad are unable to confirm this themselves but aside from that, she says I should do what makes me happy."
Tanna, "Hmm... Good morning. I have never seen you before."
A woman with long black hair, black eyes and pale skin turned, "Hello, I was just looking around the place."
Tanna, "My name is Tanna, I am one of the teaching staff."
The woman tilted her head, "I see, nice meeting you. My name is Misaki."
Tanna, "Would you like a tour of the place, Misaki - san? The classes will not start yet."
Misaki, "That would be lovely."
Orochimaru, 'So, this is the civilian that Sensei has chosen. She does not look like much at all. Not to forget her medical report, no chakra coil. I cannot sense any either. A poor and unlucky existence.'
Tanna, "As you can see these are the main classes where the children are taught shinobi arts like Taijutsu, genjutsu etc. A few years ago more buildings were added to learn how to grow and care for poisonous and medical plants."
Misaki, "Fascinating and who teaches these classes."
Tanna, "Inobu - san is a retired shinobi from the Yamanaka clan. He has been teaching the children who are interested."
Orochimaru, 'Of course it is one of the Yamanakas. They have always been obssesed with plants and poison.'
Tanna, "This is the cooking area where children learn to identify the various properties of different plants. How to pair them with other food products and finally create dishes as required. The Akimichi clan watches over this area and has taken five apprentices the last few years."
Misaki hummed and they continued the tour with Orochimaru observing the young woman from under the disguise. At one point they even ran into one of the Elders who to Orochimaru's luck was Danzo and he looked like he had eaten something sour on seeing Tanna. The disguised Sannin watched amused as Tanna shameless asked Danzo if he was there to donate money to the Academy or to teach a class for the day. Danzo bluntly told her he was passing through and making sure everything was fine before walking away in a huff muttering about gold diggers. Tanna just smiled impishly as the Elder left and continued the tour till the end of the Academy which were the training grounds.
Misaki, "That was a very enlightening experience."
Tanna, "He was snooping. I know it, he knows it, everyone knows it."
Misaki, "I hear a but?"
Tanna, "He is too prideful to show it and I want to see how long he can pretend to be prideful. Honestly, he should just be straight forward about his visits. Not to forget, there are shinobi around watching us."
Misaki, "You are very comfortable with the shinobi watching you."
Tanna, "You get used to it. Besides they are doing their job, I am not going to hold it against them."
Misaki, "Thank you for the tour Tanna - sensei. I don't know if I will send children here but I will consider it."
Tanna, "That is all I ask. Take care!"
Tanna watched her go shivering, 'That was not an ordinary woman. It could not be Orochimaru could it? I have not done anything to attract his attention, have I?'
Yoshino, "Tanna - chan, good morning."
Tanna, "Same to you Yoshino - chan."
Mikoto, "You look distracted. Did something happen?"
Tanna, "I encountered a lady earlier while looked interested in the Academy."
Himeko, "Oh? What's so strange about them?"
Tanna, "Call me paranoid but she looked like she knew this place though she looked surprised by the new buildings."
Mikoto, "I will look into it."
