Chapter 116 - Free For All

"I sing to help them find themselves. The stage just makes it easier."~ Seraphine, The Starry-Eyed Songstress

Ayo I kinda screwed myself over by only giving one day between them entering Demacia and having to meet the king. Should have been slower and more stage wise but it makes sense for a messenger to be granted an audience with a king or at least someone close to that position as soon as possible. Even then I suppose a couple set up chapters would have been better.

Also I have added a picture of Galio that will show you how massive he actually is. This will also show you the size of a full Darkin in comparison.

(Bonus points if you comment the correct key for each of Galio's abilities in the fight.)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Joraal struggled underneath the weight of the colossal statue that was above him. If the body of the host wasn't reinforced to that state... it would have been completely crushed. The red gem in the center of the shield slowly lost its brilliance and started to dull.

"LEAVE DEMACIA!." Galio ordered sternly.

Gregori stepped forward, almost eye level with Galio "Get off the creature."

"NO."

Gregori huffed. He didn't know the level of intelligence the statue could display. He wasn't sure if it could think critically and he did not have the time to find out.

The statue needed to get off Joraal as soon as possible. He had been fighting Joraal without using his spear for the same reason. The body should not be harmed. He hadn't lost blood and he hadn't absorbed extra blood. All the blood from those who had died had gone into the shield's magic in order to summon the sword.

The boy should still be saved.

But if he bled and had to regenerate then things got worse.

He looked at Galio..... If it couldn't think critically..... it might be able to take orders.

"The creature you are stood upon is a Demacian child." Gregori stepped forward. "I can save him."

WHOOOOOSH

Galio flapped his wings in his direction, sending two gusts of wind in his direction.

"The Petricitestatue uses magic? How curious..." Caalyx observed. "Dodge it Gregori."

Jumping to the back, Gregori observed as the two gusts of wind coalesced into a single tornado and continued moving in his direction.

Gregori leapt to the side and dodged the incoming tornado. It stopped.

The shadow covered the sun again as Galio arrived next to Gregori. Its hands clasped together above its head.

"JUSTICE!"

The hands fell down atop him.

Gregori swung his hand to grab the shield that flew in his direction.

BANNGG

The force of the blow sent him into the ground. His knees buckled under the blow and he was barely able to take the attack.

Orders didn't work.

Physical contact wouldn't work either. His magic would be absorbed.

"I suppose my luck had to run out somewhere Caalyx..." Gregori muttered as he rolled away from the next attack, a stomp heading right for his head.

"Now what do you do when luck is not on your side Gregori." Caalyx responded.

Gregori raised his spear and shield. "I do what I always do." He leapt at the statue intending to push it out of the battle. "Fight."

Galio ducked its head as its wings closed around itself. Gregori felt his magic being pulled into the statue as he slammed his shield into the wings. Ignoring the feeling, Gregori raised his spear and shoved it into a gap between the head and the wing. It went through.

He tugged at it sharply do hit the statue with the spear again but it didn't budge.

"GOT YOU!"

The wings shot open as they pushed Gregori away but since he did not give up his grip on the spear, he flew upward.

"SLAM!"

Galio swung the hand holding the spear straight down, with Gregori still holding its end.

BAAANNGG

Gregori hit the ground and chunks of earth flew as he did. His hand did not let go of the weapon.

"AGAIN!"

The spear rose and so did Gregori.

BAAANGGG

The transformed Darkin met the ground again. He struggled for a moment before releasing the grip on the weapon.

Unlike other Darkin he did not need to maintain contact with the weapon to stay transformed. The relationship between Gregori and Caalyx ran deeper. He had thrown the spear at Naganeka and not transformed back either.

Galio turned around for an instant sensing something.

BBBOOOOOM

The aegis smashed into the statue with the full weight of a Darkin behind it.

Galio was sent flying above Gregori and into the trees. The petrified trees stood no chance under the weight of the statue, snapping in different angles and flying through the forest.

"I think you might need my full body." Caalyx transmitted over the distance.

Gregori rose to his feet and grunted, "You..... think...?"

But he had just sent them in the general direction of where he had hidden the spearhead. It wasn't like he could figure out the location without the markers he had placed around the forest.

Turning his head around he sighed, those markers couldn't have survived the destruction around here.

"Can't spend any time finding it here." Gregori said as he leapt at Joraal.

Instead of forcing himself between the aegis and the Darkin.... Gregori placed himself into a leg lock and slammed his shield in between the Darkin's horns and used his legs to kick the shield out of Joraal's hands. The sudden movement saw Joraal's hand loosen.

"NO!" He yelled as he forced his hands to close around the shield once more.

Gregori kicked once more but this time the hand didn't budge.

"Fuck." He needed more leverage. The spear would have come in extremely handy then.

WHOOOSHHH

Gregori turned his head and spotted Galio flying toward them its free hand clutched in a fist. His eyes widened as he moved his legs over Joraal's arms and pushed downward.

The fist slammed into the aegis in a vicious uppercut. The force behind the blow so large that it lifted the two of them off the ground for an instant.

"FALL!"

The spear fell to the ground as Galio raised its hands together to slam downward again.

Gregori moved his legs under the arms and pushed up. The aegis rose and Joraal stood steadfast against the blow. But Gregori felt the shield move closer to his legs.

The spear shot to his hands and Gregori clutched it tight.

"GIVE UP THE CHILD!" He yelled as he slammed the spear into the back of the shield and kicked with both legs at the same time.

The hand came dislodged from the shield as it was knocked away.

Leaping off the Darkin, Gregori grabbed the shield and rolled to the side.

"THE GENERAL CALLS!"

His eyes widened. Joraal hadn't transformed back.

"Caalyx?" Gregori asked in panic.

Caalyx replied immediately. "I.... I do not know..." But then with a harsher voice he continued. "Stall the two of them. I'll find out why."

Caalyx extended a tendril of magic toward the aegis while Gregori watched the statue and the Darkin turn toward him.

Stalling would be a little difficult.

The gigantic statue lunged in an attempt to grab him. Gregori leapt at it but used the aegis to hop over Galio. Gregori smiled at the simple creature but the smile dropped instantly as he watched Joraal's strong fist come flying at him from the side.

Spear met fist as Gregori was sent rolling across the ground.

He climbed to his feet and looked to the two enemies. The three of them were in a triangle. A classic standoff.

"ARGHHH!" Joraal yelled as he shot to Gregori. His eyes on the aegis.

Gregori's eyes sharpened as he raised the spear and swung it sideways. Joraal was still a decent distance away as he felt a sudden force hit him and send him flying into Galio.

Galio used that opportunity to grab Joraal and throw him sideways into the trees.

"THAT'S IT!" Caalyx yelled. "THE GEM IN THE CENTER!"

"How do I stop it?" Gregori asked.

Caalyx's voice was giddy as he replied. "Do what you just did! The statue just absorbed magic from Joraal. All you need to do is make sure that the two come in contact as much as possible."

"Then the magic runs out and Joraal cannot keep up the transformation." Gregori finished.

"Exactly!"

Gregori grunted, "That is a tall ask Caalyx."

"It is your only option."

Raising his spear, he slammed it thrice into the aegis. "Come at me little rock." He taunted.

"I WILL SQUISH YOU!" Galio yelled as he ran at Gregori.

Smiling, Gregori took off in the direction of Joraal as Galio followed. "YOU CANNOT PROTECT SHIT JORAAL!" He yelled as he ran.

"I WILL PROTECT!" The yell was returned from the direction he was running toward. Gregori heard the footsteps of the Darkin run toward him.

He just needed to be slippery now.

Joraal burst through the wreckage of the trees and cocked his fist back, aiming to land a blow into Gregori that would let him get the shield back.

As they came close, Gregori threw both weapons to either side and grabbed onto Joraal's extended arm and did a perfect arm throw.

The Darkin's body flipped into Galio sending the two right into the ground. The shield lodged in Joraal's horns came loose as it fell to the side.

Galio flapped his wings sending Joraal off of him.

Meanwhile, Gregori summoned both the spear and aegis to himself.

"One more time Gregori." Caalyx vibrated. "Joraal is almost out."

The grip on his spear tightened. "Will the child survive?"

Caalyx didn't reply immediately. ".... It is still possible. The body has not been broken, just thrown around."

Suddenly, his knees almost buckled as the pressure on his body doubled.

In the distance, wings flapped in their direction.
