Chapter 236 - Fighting Monsters

Chapter 236 - Fighting Monsters

Apart from the magic-nullifying effect, there isn't anything particularly special about Gáe Dearg.

It's a sturdy weapon, but the problem is that Mahiro doesn't use spears.

Therefore, this weapon will likely gather dust for now.

"It might be useful in the future," Mahiro muttered to himself.

After storing Gáe Dearg in system panel, Mahiro began hunting monsters on the 25th floor.

Although the weapon's effects were niche, they might prove useful later.

Just like the Youth Incarnation.

Using Shunpo, Mahiro moved at incredible speeds across the floor, constantly searching for monsters.

The monsters here were already at level 3, with each kill rewarding 100 points.

The reputation point gain from these monsters was also higher, making this floor an excellent place for completing quests.

Moreover, this floor was part of the lower floors, and very few adventurers could reach it.

There was no need to worry about conflicts with other adventurers over monster spawns.

This floor was one that only Level 3 adventurers and above could safely operate in.

However, even Level 3 adventurers typically needed to form a team to venture into the lower floors.

The reason was simple: starting from lower floors the monsters not only grew stronger in combat power but also became far more intelligent.

The Dungeon was the monsters' home turf.

While there were strong monsters that could pose a significant threat on their own, there were also monsters that attacked in groups.

Humanoid monsters were dangerous due to their individual power, while group monsters, though weaker individually, became deadly when they appeared in large numbers.

Even though adventurers had more balanced strength development compared to monsters, this advantage became negligible in the lower floors.

Venturing into the lower floors without a team meant a 90% chance of death for an adventurer.

A single adventurer might escape if they encountered a humanoid monster with lower agility.

However, if the monster had high agility, escape would be impossible.

Encountering group monsters, on the other hand, was a disaster.

These monsters had developed intelligence and were no longer as mindless as those in the upper floors.

While they couldn't strategize like humans, they could still surround and slowly overwhelm adventurers.

Yet, on the 25th floor, a scene defying common sense unfolded.

Mahiro moved freely among a group of over 30 Mad Beetles.

These monsters, with their hard exoskeletons and sharp pincers, were known for their aggression and tendency to swarm their prey.

The sound of skittering legs echoed as dozens of Mad Beetles closed in from all directions.

Mahiro stood calmly in the center, unfazed by the impending attack.

Just as the Mad Beetles were about to strike, he moved.

A flash of lightning illuminated the corridor as Mahiro unleashed Raikiri.

The attack cleaved through the surrounding Mad Beetles.

"Huh? Trying to run?" Mahiro noticed one of the larger Mad Beetles attempting to retreat.

Instead of advancing toward Mahiro, it was moving away.

If the beetle had a face, its expression would undoubtedly have been one of fear.

Mahiro found this amusing. He chased after the fleeing beetle, swiftly reducing it to ashes.

[Congratulations! You have killed one LV3 monster. Reward: 100 points.]

[Congratulations! You have killed one LV3 monster. Reward: 100 points.]

The system prompted repeatedly.

"It's still too slow," Mahiro muttered, frowning after finishing off the last monster.

[Main Quest 3: Monster Hunter

Completion: 325/10,000.]

Although his efficiency had improved compared to the previous two days, the total number of monsters killed was still far from the quest's requirement.

Compared to his experience hunting zombies in Highschool of the Dead, this pace felt sluggish.

"I need to find a way to gather monsters..." Mahiro pondered.

He recalled that in the danmachi anime, there were items that could repel monsters.

If such items existed, surely there were also items that could attract them? Mahiro was certain they must exist.

If any adventurers heard this, they would think Mahiro was insane.

When they ventured into the lower floors, they had to be cautious with every monster encounter, worried that the noise of battle would attract more monsters.

Yet, here was Mahiro, dissatisfied with the number of monsters and actively thinking about how to gather more.

To most adventurers, this would seem like a death wish.

After collecting the magic stones and drop items, Mahiro continued hunting.

While doing so, he also mapped out the route and prepared to move toward the next floor.
