Chapter 170 - Let me borrow

With the first light of dawn, Sullivan and Dahlia set off for the capital, with Hazel accompanying them. She avoided even a fleeting glance at Daedric, having come to understand that her presence only seemed to irk him.

Meanwhile, in the grand dining hall, the Crown Prince, Daedric, sat at the head of the table where the untouched tea was placed before him. As Jameson, his trusted aide, observed the Crown Prince's silent demeanor, he attempted to lighten the mood.

"Your Royal Highness," Jameson began carefully, "Miss Hazel could have been of great assistance to you in Salhye. I've heard she's exceptionally skilled with numbers and managing accounts."

Daedric's fork paused mid-air as he stopped cutting the pancake. His sharp gaze flicked to Jameson. "Why must you always remind me of Hazel's supposed virtues?"

Jameson stiffened at the remark, lowering his head in deference. "My apologies, Your Highness. That was not my intention."
