BOOM!
An impact echoed through a skyscraper as Kara crashed through several floors, leaving a trail of shattered concrete and twisted metal in her wake. She finally came to rest face-first on someone's desk, scattering paperwork everywhere. A Newton's Cradle on the desk now activated clicked back and forth mockingly, somehow untouched by the destruction.
"Ugh..." Kara groaned, pushing herself up from the wreckage. Brushing debris from her costume, she shook her head in disbelief. She reached out and simply crushed the cradle stopping it's incessant sound. "That lunatic! He detonated his ship right in my face! How can a mere human be this formidable? Either Crescent set the difficulty impossibly high, or this Batman was holding back during our earlier encounters..."
A figure materialized in front of the gaping hole in the building, hovering with arms crossed. Superman's face wore an uncharacteristically condescending smirk. "Is that all you've got, Kara Zor-El? Batman's merely human, yet he bested you. And I thought my cousin would present more of a challenge."
Below, civilians screamed and scattered as more debris rained down. Kara's embarrassment quickly turned to determination. "Projected or not, that smug attitude is really starting to irritate me. Time to show you what I can really do."
Her eyes blazed with renewed purpose as she crouched into a fighting stance, energy crackling around her form. In a burst of speed that shattered what remained of the office windows, she launched herself straight at her opponent.
Superman's smirk only grew wider as he met her charge head-on, their collision creating a thunderous shockwave that rattled the remaining windows. Kara's fist connected with his jaw, but he barely flinched.
"Better," Superman taunted, "but still not enough power behind it. You're holding back."
Kara gritted her teeth, remembering Diana's training. She centered herself, focusing on channeling her energy more efficiently. The air around her began to crackle with intensifying power.
"I'm done playing nice," she declared, her voice steady. "Time to teach you some manners baby cousin." Her stance shifted subtly, muscles coiling with controlled power. When she moved she landed a fluid feint to the left drawing his guard before she pivoted, channeling her energy into a devastating right cross. The air itself seemed to ripple as her fist connected, raw power coursing through her arm like lightning.
Superman actually staggered this time. "Now that's more like it," he said, his smirk replaced with a look of genuine approval. "But can you maintain it?"
What followed was a rapid exchange of blows, each impact echoing through the cityscape. Kara matched her opponent's speed, her recent training evident in her improved technique. When Superman launched a blast of his heat vision that lanced toward her, instead of dodging, she remembered Diana's teachings. In one smooth motion, she channeled her Ki, forming a protective layer around her arms. As the intense beams struck, she pivoted gracefully, redirecting their destructive force.
"Now!" she shouted, guiding the redirected energy toward the other opponents who were just regaining their footing below. The resulting explosion sent them sprawling once again.
"Impressive," Superman acknowledged, as he narrowed his eyes. "But, this isn't over..."
"Oh but, it is," A determined smile crossed Kara's face as she channeled her Ki, feeling the raw power surge through her body. Her eyes began to glow with an intense blue-white light. "I am ending this training scenario!" she said with quiet confidence as the air around her crackled with energy as twin beams of heat vision erupted from her eyes. The attack was beyond anything she'd released before, not just more powerful than Superman's previous blast, but more focused, more controlled. The concentrated beams cut through the air with devastating precision, leaving trails of ionized particles in their wake.
Superman's eyes widened slightly before narrowing in concentration. He channeled every bit of his energy into his eyes and unleashed his own heat vision, the red beams colliding with Kara's blue-white assault in a spectacular display of power. The point where the beams met created a sphere of pure energy that grew larger with each passing second, casting harsh shadows across the simulated cityscape.
Soon, the sphere of colliding energies pulsed dangerously and then with a deafening crack, it finally destabilized, exploding outward in a brilliant flash of red and blue-white light. The shockwave sent both combatants hurtling backward through the air.
Kara stabilized herself mid-air after rolling back a decent distance, while Superman crashed through a nearby skyscraper. The impact brought the entire structure down in a cascade of concrete and steel.
"NO! KAL!" Kara cried out instinctively before catching herself. "Right... it's just a simulation," she muttered, shaking her head to regain focus.
But, just then a sharp impact from behind interrupted her thoughts. Fighter jets streaked past in tight formation, their armor-piercing rounds peppering her position.
"Squadron Leader, this is Charlie One. Target acquired, requesting permission to engage with heavy ordinance," called out a pilot through the tactical comm channel.
"Permission granted. Take her down," came the authoritative response.
"Roger that. Fox Three!" The lead pilot launched a missile that streaked toward Kara with deadly precision.
Still recovering from the bullet impacts, Kara barely registered the incoming projectile before it detonated. The explosion engulfed her in a massive fireball, sending electrical discharge crackling through the smoke-filled sky.
"Direct hit confirmed, Charlie One. Standing by for damage assessment," reported the pilot.
"Outstanding shot! No way she walks away from that without a scratch," another pilot chimed in.
Their celebration was cut short as a figure burst from the explosion cloud, spinning with incredible speed. Kara emerged above their formation, her armor damaged but her resolve unshaken. The blast had torn away sections of her suit, exposing her right shoulder, midriff, and left leg, but she showed no signs of serious injury.
"Target is still active! All units, evasive maneuvers!" The comm channel erupted with panicked voices as Kara's cold eyes locked onto the squadron. Drawing in a deep breath, she tilted her head back before unleashing a devastating blast of freeze breath that would teach these pilots to underestimate her.
The sub-zero blast swept across the sky, catching several jets in its path. Ice crystals formed instantly on their wings and engines, the sudden temperature change causing critical systems to fail. Pilots assessing the situation, ejected as their aircraft became nonoperational and were now falling from the sky. Soon parachutes bloomed amidst the chaos.
"All units, pull back! I repeat, pull back!" The squadron leader's voice crackled with urgency through the comms.
The remaining jets broke formation, attempting evasive maneuvers, but Kara was already moving. She shot through their scattered ranks with precise control, disabling engines with carefully measured heat vision bursts - just enough to force landings without endangering the pilots.
"Charlie Three to Base, we've lost half the squadron! Request immediate - " The pilot's transmission cut off as his communications array froze solid.
Kara hovered in the air, surveying the aftermath. Several jets were making emergency landings while others had crashed into the cityscape, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake.
Her enhanced hearing suddenly picked up incoming threats. With lightning-fast reflexes, she spun and weaved through the air, dodging a coordinated assault of kryptonite bullets, explosive arrows, and animated vines that twisted impossibly through the air. The soldiers, Green Arrow, and Poison Ivy had joined the fray, turning the battlefield into a deadly obstacle course.
As Kara descended into the shadows of the ruined buildings for cover, Black Canary's sonic cry caught her off guard. The piercing sound assaulted her enhanced hearing, making her cry out in agony.
"Aaaarrrrggghhhh!"
Before she could recover, Flash struck from below, channeling lightning through his speed force. The attack sent her crashing into the concrete, creating a crater shrouded in dust.
"Nice work, Canary!" Green Arrow called out, lowering his bow with a satisfied grin. "When this is over, dinner's on me."
Black Canary smirked, her eyes never leaving the impact zone. "I might take you up on that. Just remember - I don't do second chances."
"Hey, what about me?" Flash protested, gesturing at the crater. "That lightning strike was what downed her!"
Their banter was cut short by a thunderous "ENOUGH!" The dust cloud exploded outward as Kara rose, her eyes blazing with determination. "My turn." With deliberate slowness, she spread her arms wide before bringing them together in a powerful thunderclap.
CLAP!
The resulting shockwave was devastating, sending heroes and soldiers alike flying through the air along with their weapons and vehicles.
As the dust settled, Kara surveyed the destruction with growing dismay. "I overdid it again, didn't I?" She sighed, remembering Diana's numerous lectures about collateral damage during her training simulations aboard the Void Sentinel. "Another lecture coming my way..."
A slow clap echoed through the air as Rachel stepped through a spatial ripple, freezing the simulation around them. "Not bad. You've shown excellent combat awareness and kept casualties to a minimum. Though you still underestimated Batman and suffered because of it. Then there is your property damage control, it still needs work." Her lips curved in a knowing smile.
"Rachel, I swear—how is that Batman even human? His projection took my punch head-on! And those infuriating tactics—I nearly lost control and wanted to destroy him! And seriously, why hasn't Earth developed construction robots yet?" Kara groaned, gesturing at the devastation around them. "At least I managed to save most lives..."
Rachel chuckled and shook her head. "And here I thought you would complain about Superman's projection the most."
"Listen," Rachel's tone softened. "First, I warned you about Batman. He may not have powers, but he's seriously no joke—he has gone toe-to-toe with Kryptonians before. But, his greatest asset is his tactical genius. You saw how all the other projections coordinated well, enough to damage that training suit of yours—that was all Batman's projection commanding from behind the scenes. Second, for many people, their homes and vehicles aren't just possessions. They're dreams made real, achievements earned through years of hard work. While saving lives always comes first, we have a duty to protect people's livelihoods too. That's why we try to direct fights away from populated areas whenever possible." She paused, then added, "Still, considering this was a scenario with a corrupted Justice League and a few criminals, you handled it well."
Kara gave her friend a wry smile. "You're starting to sound just like Diana, you know that?"
Rachel shrugged, a hint of pride in her expression. "Well, I am her daughter. Now come on—we're about to reach Earth's system, and you need to freshen up and get changed. This scenario really did a number on your training suit. Dad's prepared a new suit for you, and I helped with the design. I think you'll like it."
Kara's eyes widened in surprise. "Orach made me a suit? But... I thought he didn't like me..." Her voice trailed off as she remembered their first encounter—those piercing eyes that had seemed to look straight through her soul, leaving her with haunting visions. In those moments, she'd felt transported into pure darkness where a shimmering figure reached out to her. She shuddered at the memory.
Throughout her two years in the training chamber, these unsettling visions had surfaced randomly in her dreams. Through Rachel's guidance and meditation during cultivation training, she'd learned to manage them. When Diana began training her, Kara had thrown herself completely into the teachings, focusing solely on becoming stronger.
But now, with their arrival imminent, the thought of facing Orach again made her nervous. His intimidating presence commanded both fear and respect, and she hadn't seen him since that first encounter. Learning from Rachel that he didn't get along with Kal had only reinforced her belief that he disliked her too.
"Raven, did you..." Kara hesitated, meeting her friend's gaze. "Did you ask him to make it for me?"
Rachel shook her head. "First off, it's Rachel now—simulation's over," she corrected with a gentle smile. "And no, this was entirely Dad's idea. He just needed my input since he's not exactly up to date on women's fashion." She grabbed Kara's hand. "Come on, let's get you ready."
Without waiting for a response, Rachel opened a spatial ripple and pulled Kara through it toward her quarters. Behind them, the training chamber's simulation faded to standby, its purpose served for the day.
Void Sentinel - 10 minutes before arrival - Main Command Deck
Orach and Diana sat in their seats on the command deck, their attention focused on the holographic displays showing incoming data from Earth. The Void Sentinel had established connection with their relay station on Pluto about an hour ago, allowing Mother Empress to begin processing the backlog of information from Earth.
The AI had interrupted their sparring session in the training chamber with urgent news. After a quick cleanup and change of attire, they had transported directly to the command deck, where Mother Empress presented her findings.
"Young Master, Mistress," Mother Empress's ethereal voice filled the chamber, "According to the data, approximately five months have passed on Earth since our departure. More pressingly, the planet recently endured an invasion from Apokoliptian forces just one week ago."
Diana's expression hardened as she pored over the engagement reports, her jaw clenching at the details of the destruction wrought by Darkseid's armies. However, her eyes widened as she reached the final sections.
"This can't be..." she murmured, looking up at the holographic display where Mother Empress had projected several images. She saw many of her comrades wounded in their battle with Darkseid. Her best friend Barbara had participated in the battle and unleashed her full Cheetah form, managing to wound the enemy commander, though Darkseid had struck her down in return, injuring her. Diana's hands clenched into fists as she saw Barbara's broken form in the images, her heart aching at the sight of her best friend's wounds. Though relief washed over her, reading that they were all later healed by the medpods in the mobile command center. What truly caught her attention were the final images—two beings of extraordinary power who had single-handedly ended the war. As Diana read their names and claims, her eyes widened in astonishment.
"Orach..." Diana turned to her partner, her voice barely above a whisper. "Are they really…?"
Orach's usually stoic features softened with a hint of melancholy as he studied the familiar figures in the images. Diana rose from her seat and moved to stand beside him, placing a gentle hand on his shoulder in silent support.
"We'll have company when we return home," she said softly, understanding the situation. Orach covered her hand with his own, his thumb tracing soothing circles on her skin.
"Indeed," Orach replied, his gaze lingering on the images, a rare smile tugging at his lips. "My siblings discovered my survival sooner than expected. They sent Adirosas to investigate - a wise choice. He was always the most skilled among us in controlling Ki. He wouldn't have any problem descending by restricting his power."
His expression softened further as he gestured to the woman in the projection. "And there stands his wife, former princess of the Flame Dragons from Ignia. Quite the first impression she made in our younger days. She transformed into her dragon form and chased us across an entire continent on another world after Adirosas made the mistake of teasing her. Now she stands as his equal, an Empress in her own right."
Diana studied her partner's face, noting the subtle play of emotions beneath his calm demeanor. "Should I be concerned about their arrival?"
"They will test you," Orach admitted, squeezing her hand reassuringly. "But only to understand the woman who holds my heart. Once they do, they'll welcome you as family." He paused, a slight grimace crossing his features. "Though we might face some... resistance from Big Sister Amara and Ayami. Fortunately, they won't be descending anytime soon."
Diana's fingers intertwined with his as she smiled. "I look forward to meeting them. We owe them our gratitude for intervening during the invasion." Her expression hardened as she continued, "Though I noticed your brother merely banished Darkseid rather than ending his threat permanently."
"They are trying to respect protocols as much as they can. But, if we encounter that ant," Orach's voice dropped to a dangerous whisper, "we'll finish what they started. His attacks on Earth cannot go unpunished." His brow in the next moment furrowed in thought. "However, these repeated invasions suggest something more. There must be something on this planet beyond the Mother Boxes that draws his attention. Those are merely tools, after all."
"You think there's a greater power hidden on Earth?" Diana asked, her mind already considering the implications.
"It's possible. When we arrive, I'll have Crescent and Mother Empress perform a comprehensive scan of the planet before we descend to meet our friends. Since we've already planned an archaeological expedition for our family vacation, we can incorporate this search into those plans. If there's something powerful enough to attract the attention of self-proclaimed gods, we should be the first to find it."
Diana nodded solemnly. "Agreed. The last thing we need is more threats targeting Earth. We need to find whatever's drawing their attention before anyone else does." She paused, her expression softening. "But first, when we arrive, I'd like to honor those who gave their lives defending this world. Let me take the girls to the cenotaph. You can meet with your brother and his wife first, and once we've paid our respects, Crescent can bring Rachel and me to join you. Then we'll meet them as a proper family."
Just then the doors slid open as Rachel and a freshly changed Kara entered the deck. Kara wore a sleek new dark blue suit with a red cape flowing behind her, its design seamlessly blending Kryptonian aesthetics with Saiyan technology. The iconic "S" shield—a small emblem adorned her left breast, while a larger version was emblazoned on her flowing red cape—displayed her House of El heritage.
"Perfect timing," Diana said with a warm smile as she closed the report display. Her eyes sparkled with approval at Kara's appearance. "You truly look like a Supergirl now."
"Thank you, Diana, but..." Kara hesitated, then straightened her shoulders. "Couldn't I go by Superwoman instead? It sounds more... mature."
Diana's expression softened. "Don't rush to grow up, Kara. You have your whole life ahead of you. For now, enjoy being a teenager that you are—make friends at school with Rachel and her fellow young heroes, discover who you want to become. Your superhero name will grow with you along the way."
Kara's shoulders slumped slightly as she nodded. "I suppose you're right."
While they talked, Rachel had moved to stand beside her father in the captains' chair. "What's the latest from Earth, Dad?"
Orach's fingers danced across the terminal. "There was a battle. Our allies fought bravely and, with some unexpected assistance, emerged victorious. I'm sending you the summary now."
"Got it," Rachel replied, but before she could begin reviewing, Kara's head snapped up, her expression tight with worry.
"An attack? Is... is Kal alright?" Her voice wavered, the concerned cousin showing through her composure.
"He's fine," Diana assured her quickly. "He was injured during the fight but has fully recovered. You'll see him soon."
Kara's shoulders relaxed as she whispered a grateful "Thank Rao."
Noticing Kara's sideways glances at Orach and her nervous fidgeting with the suit's sleeve, Diana's lips curved into a knowing smile. She gently took Kara's hand and led her to stand before Orach.
"Orach," Diana called softly, drawing his attention from the displays. "Don't you think the suit turned out perfectly?"
Finding herself suddenly face-to-face with the intimidating being she both revered and feared, Kara gathered her courage. "I... I really love it. Thank you for making it for me."
Orach spared her a brief glance, his expression neutral. "The design is functional. There's a communications terminal integrated into the right wrist sleeve - it will allow you to contact Rachel or Diana as needed. The suit's appearance can be modified through the same interface. Direct any requests for changes through Rachel. I'll consider them when time permits."
Though Orach's words were polite, their blunt delivery left Kara struggling to reconcile his distant tone with the obvious care he'd put into her suit's design and training. She glanced uncertainly at Diana, who caught the look and stepped closer.
"He means well," Diana whispered, leaning close to Kara's ear and squeezing her shoulder reassuringly. "The suit is beautiful, and you've made remarkable progress in your training."
Kara nodded, though her expression remained uncertain as she whispered back. "I just... I can't tell if he approves or..."
"Trust me," Diana replied with a knowing smile, "if Orach didn't approve, you wouldn't be wearing that suit or training with Rachel. His actions speak louder than his words."
Diana understood why Orach maintained his emotional distance, but knowing what she did, she wished he would show even a fraction of the warmth she knew he possessed.
"Dad!" Rachel's eyes widened as she scanned through the report, her gaze fixed on the images of Adirosas and Aurelia. She spun in her chair to face her father, and asked, "These beings... are they really from the higher realms?"
A smile crossed Orach's face as he looked at his daughter. "Yes, they are. That's your Uncle Adirosas and Aunt Aurelia. They'll love to meet you. Especially Adirosas—he'll probably be able to guide you with magic."
"Tell me about them," Rachel leaned forward eagerly, while both Diana and Kara listened with interest. "What are they like?"
Orach's expression softened as he reminisced. "Adirosas isn't just my brother—he's one of the most talented mages in the higher realms. He ascended to the rank of early Emperor even before I descended to this lower realm. By now, he's likely reached late Emperor. And Aurelia..." He chuckled softly. "She was once the headstrong princess of the Flame Dragons of Ignia, a world in the Aetherium Concordance. Now she stands as a proper Empress at his side. And though she may not show directly, she'll surely spoil you."
"I can't wait to meet them!" Rachel's excitement was palpable.
ALERT: Entering Earth System. Initiating warp exit sequence.
The sleek vessel gracefully decelerated as swirling streams of light collapsed around them. Through the command deck's viewport, the familiar blue marble of Earth gradually came into focus against the backdrop of stars.
"It's beautiful," Kara whispered in awe as Earth came into view, her eyes taking in the the sight of her new home world.
"It has it's moments," Rachel remarked with a slight smirk, though the fond look in her eyes betrayed her true feelings for the planet below.
Diana and Orach shared an amused glance at their daughter's attempt to play it cool. "Is that so?" Diana asked with a raised eyebrow, her lips curved in a knowing smile.
"I mean..." Rachel started, but before she could finish, Diana had already reached over and playfully tweaked her ear.
"Ow, ow! Okay, Mom!" Rachel laughed, squirming away. "It's beautiful! Earth is absolutely beautiful! Happy now?"
Diana released her ear with a triumphant smile, pulling Rachel into a quick hug. "Was that so hard to admit?"
A gentle smile touched Orach's features as he watched his family's playful exchange. His gaze drifted to the viewport where, seeing the blue planet below, he murmured softly, "Here we go again."
Earth
A week had passed since Darkseid's failed invasion of Earth. The planet was healing, but the scars ran deep. In cities across the globe, the night sky glowed with thousands of candles as people gathered to honor their fallen defenders. Though Earth was no stranger to alien threats at this point, each invasion left an indelible mark on humanity's spirit.
Unlike the Thanagarian invasion which gave Earth time to prepare a coordinated defense, Darkseid's attack struck with little warning. Despite this, the Justice League, Teen Titans, and US military executed a brilliant defensive strategy—luring enemy forces to carefully chosen battlegrounds where Earth's defenders held the tactical advantage with the time they had. Other nations could only watch helplessly as the battle unfolded, their world leaders receiving word through secure UN channels far too late to mobilize their forces. Yet in the aftermath, something remarkable emerged: unprecedented global unity. In their shared grief, the artificial boundaries of nation, race, religion, and creed melted away. The world mourned as one for those brave souls who died defending not just their own country, but all of humanity.
"It doesn't matter whose soldiers they were," a citizen from Tokyo had told reporters, laying flowers at a makeshift memorial. "They died protecting all of us. They were humanity's soldiers."
Two days ago at Corpus Christi, the Memorial of the Fallen was unveiled, its polished stone walls etched with thousands of names that testified to humanity's resilience and sacrifice. At the inauguration ceremony, the Justice League and Teen Titans gathered in solemn tribute, each hero laying flowers before the memorial. While the seasoned League members were unfortunately accustomed to such ceremonies, the younger Titans visibly struggled with the raw grief of bereaved families, especially the children's heart-wrenching cries. Even Batman's proteges—Nightwing and Batgirl—though maintaining their composure, revealed their inner turmoil through clenched fists and rigid shoulders. Kori offered quiet comfort to Dick, while Donna steadied her friend Barbara with a supportive hand.
Superman stepped forward to say a few words for the fallen. Standing before the crowd, his cape stirring gently in the breeze, he spoke with a voice that carried both strength and sorrow. "These names," he gestured to the memorial wall, "represent more than casualties. They represent courage, sacrifice, and unwavering loyalty to their nation, their fellow citizens, and humanity itself. We honor them not just with our words, but with our commitment to better protect the world they died defending."
Throughout this week following the invasion, news channels provided wall-to-wall coverage of both its aftermath and the unprecedented global response. World leaders, deeply shaken by this latest threat, advocated for stronger planetary defenses. "A detection system isn't enough anymore," declared the UN Secretary-General during an emergency session. "We need a comprehensive defensive network that can actually protect our planet."
Yet amid these developments, another story dominated global headlines: the arrival and continued presence of another two beings from the higher realms. Adirosas and Aurelia, who had emerged during the battle against Darkseid, became Earth's most discussed topics. Their presence on Earth sent shockwaves through every level of society.
From corrupt politicians to the criminal underworld, those typically resistant to change found themselves in an unprecedented retreat. Even the most hardened crime bosses ceased operations, their empires grinding to a halt. While Orach's earlier presence had made many powerful people nervous, these new higher realm visitors left them trembling in their boots.
Perhaps most active these days was the magical community. Every demonstration of Adirosas and Aurelia's magic became the subject of intense study and debate.
Then on this Friday morning began like any other, until a sound like shattering reality split the skies of Earth, echoing like breaking glass. Citizens worldwide gazed upward as a massive vessel materialized in Earth's atmosphere, its sleek form casting shadows across major cities.
Gotham - Wayne Manor - 5 minutes earlier
While the world grappled with these developments, in a quieter corner of Gotham, Wayne Manor was experiencing its own share of extraordinary events. The heavy oak doors of Wayne Manor creaked open as Cheetah stumbled inside, her muscles screaming in protest after another intense training session with Aurelia, the Fire Dragon Queen. Collapsing onto the nearest sofa, she called out weakly, "Alfred... food... please..."
It had been an unexpected turn of events when Adirosas and Aurelia decided to stay on Earth after the battle, waiting for Orach's family to return. At the end of the discussion at the mobile command center, Adirosas had turned to Batman with an intriguing request.
"I wish to understand my brother's life here after his crash landing," he said, his eyes gleaming with a subtle smile. "Would you permit us to stay where he once resided?"
Batman, recognizing the polite phrasing masked a foregone conclusion, simply nodded. "Sure. We have plenty of room."
After the recovering Leaguers were released from the med pods and briefed about recent events, Batman had led the group - Cheetah, Wonder Girl, and Batgirl - along with their higher realm guests to the Batcave. Since then, the higher realm beings had made themselves at home in Gotham, even showing keen interest in Orach's old laboratory at Wayne Tech.
During one of their first dinners together, Aurelia had studied Cheetah with increasing interest before making an unexpected proposal. "Your Demihuman and full beast form... both hold great potential. I could train you, if you wish."
"I... that's very kind, but I don't think-" Cheetah had begun to decline politely, only to feel the weight of Aurelia's aura press down upon her. The pressure left no room for refusal.
Now, each day brought new levels of exhaustion as Aurelia pushed her to her absolute limits. Bruce had become her primary caretaker during these grueling evenings, but by the third day of training, Cheetah began noticing changes. Her movements felt more natural, her connection to her feral form stronger than ever before.
"Your water, Miss," Alfred appeared with a silver tray bearing a glass of water and some light refreshments. "Shall I prepare the medical kit as well?"
Cheetah managed a weak smile. "Not today, Alfred. I'm actually starting to get used to it." She paused, her expression growing determined. "I hate that we needed their help with Darkseid, but I won't waste this opportunity to grow stronger. Next time, we'll be ready to handle threats ourselves."
Suddenly, a deafening crack split the air, like the sound of reality itself shattering. The noise reverberated through Wayne Manor's walls, causing the windows to vibrate ominously.
Cheetah's enhanced senses went on high alert. She sprang to her feet, all exhaustion forgotten, her muscles tensing instinctively. "Alfred, did you hear that?"
"Indeed, Miss," Alfred replied calmly, though his posture had stiffened. "I believe the entire city must have heard it."
Before either could say more, both Adirosas and Aurelia appeared in the doorway, their expressions grave. Aurelia's eyes were fixed skyward through the manor's windows.
"To break through my restriction..." Adirosas said quietly, his eyes fixed on the sky. "It seems we have company."
A massive ship materialized before their eyes, its sleek form appearing over the skies of Earth. Aurelia's face turned pale as recognition dawned.
"That's... impossible," she whispered, taking an involuntary step back. "A Dauntless-class warship?"
Hahaha
To everyone's surprise, Adirosas burst into laughter, his eyes gleaming with a purple hue. "Of course! I should have expected nothing less from Auntie Gula."
"Husband?" Aurelia asked, studying his unexpectedly jovial reaction.
"It's brother Orach - he's returned," Adirosas explained, his smile widening. "That's a Saiyan Empire Dauntless-class warship. Aunt Gula must have sent it as his support vessel."
"Support vessel?" Aurelia exclaimed incredulously. "A Dauntless-class warship as mere support? That's... that's completely excessive!"
Adirosas's expression softened with fond remembrance. "You've only encountered Aunt Gula in her role as War Empress. But we six, know a different side of her. The way she doted on brother Orach, her only son..." He shook his head, still smiling. "This level of... shall we say, maternal overprotectiveness, is exactly what I'd expect."
"Just how formidable is this vessel?" Cheetah interjected, her curiosity piqued as she approached the windows.
Aurelia turned to her student, her expression grave. "In all the higher realms, only a handful of ships surpass the Dauntless-class in power. The Saiyan Empire's variants are especially feared—they're not merely warships but mobile fortresses that can devastate entire star systems, wielding power equivalent to a high Emperor-rank being."
Cheetah's eyes widened as she gazed up at the massive vessel, her expression a mix of awe and concern. She turned to Aurelia and Adirosas with a worried look.
"So let me get this straight," she said, running a hand through her fur. "My best friend Diana's future home is basically a planet-destroying warship?" She let out a short, incredulous laugh.
She shook her head with a wry smile, though her expression darkened. "Thank goodness Diana and Rachel are strong. Heaven help anyone foolish enough to threaten either of them."
"Alfred," she called out suddenly, massaging her temples. "I think I'm going to need something stronger than water. And please prepare a big meal—since Diana's back, I'll invite everyone for dinner."
"On it, miss," replied Alfred with a nod as he headed to the kitchen.
Suddenly, Cheetah's Justice League communicator chimed with an urgent alert. She activated it to hear J'onn J'onzz's measured voice.
"Attention all League members," the Martian Manhunter announced. "Orach has returned. Wonder Woman and Raven have been spotted materializing near the Memorial of the Fallen."
"Finally, they're back!" Cheetah exclaimed, reaching for the remote. The TV screen flickered to life, showing live coverage from the memorial site. Several news helicopters circled overhead, their cameras trained on three figures that had materialized before the memorial.
Cheetah leaned forward, her eyes narrowing as she studied the scene. Diana and Rachel were instantly recognizable, but there was someone else - a blonde woman in an unfamiliar costume. "Who is..." Cheetah's voice trailed off as she caught sight of a familiar symbol. "Is that an 'S' on her cape?"
Adirosas studied the screen with keen interest. "So, that's my sister-in-law and niece," he mused, his eyebrow raised. His gaze shifted to the third figure. "Barbara, who might that other one be?"
"I... I'm not sure," Cheetah admitted, her expression puzzled. Though she'd never seen this mysterious newcomer before, that distinctive 'S' symbol seemed to hint at something significant.
"Husband, we should go there as well," Aurelia suggested, her eyes narrowing thoughtfully.
"Indeed," Adirosas agreed. He turned to Cheetah, raising his ornate staff. "Vishuddha Vitalis!"
A soft green light enveloped Cheetah, and she gasped as healing energy coursed through her body. The fatigue from her earlier training melted away, replaced by renewed vigor. Her eyes widened in amazement at the spell's potency.
"Thank you, Lord Adirosas," she said with a respectful bow.
Adirosas acknowledged her gratitude with a slight nod. "Change into something more suitable. We'll depart shortly."
Cheetah quickly made her way to the master bedroom she shared with Bruce, eager to freshen up and change. Minutes later, she rejoined the others, and Adirosas opened a shimmering portal with his Gate spell. Together, the three stepped through, heading directly for the memorial site.
Corpus Christi
Moments ago at the Memorial of the Fallen in Corpus Christi, a solemn crowd had gathered to pay their respects when a massive vessel materialized in Earth's atmosphere. The initial shattering sound that echoed through the sky caused momentary panic, but the familiar sight of the ship soon calmed the onlookers - they recognized what its arrival meant.
In a brilliant flash of soft blue light, three figures materialized before the memorial. Wonder Woman stood tall in her enhanced battle suit, subtle changes in her appearance and bearing reflecting her recent growth. At her side was Raven, her evolved battle suit concealed beneath her hooded cape, and beside them stood a striking blonde woman in a midnight blue battle suit. The newcomer wore the distinctive 'S' shield of the House of El—a small emblem adorned her left breast, while a larger version was emblazoned on her flowing red cape.
"Wonder Woman's back!" a teenager whispered excitedly, their phone capturing the historic moment.
"She seems... different," his father observed thoughtfully. "There's something more than just the new armor."
"That's Raven from the Teen Titans with her," another onlooker pointed out. "But who's the blonde woman?"
"Wait... is that Superman's symbol on her suit?" someone else asked, their voice filled with wonder.
Kara, experiencing Earth for the first time, felt overwhelmed by the crowd's attention and whispered conversations. Diana noticed her discomfort and placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder, offering a gentle smile. Drawing strength from her presence, Kara returned the gesture with a grateful nod. Together, the three women approached the memorial wall, their steps measured and purposeful, as the crowd respectfully parted to make way watching in awe as these beauties arrived before the monument.
Before departing their ship via a transporter, Rachel made a quick visit to Azarath through a spatial ripple to gather fresh flowers from their home. Now at the monument, she raised her hands and channeled her magic to summon the prepared bouquet. As the flowers materialized through dark energy, she presented them to her mother, Diana.
Diana took the flowers from Rachel with a tender smile. Then kneeling before the memorial wall, she carefully placed the bouquet at its base. Her eyes traced the countless names etched in stone, each one representing a life given in service of others. Bringing her hands together, she bowed her head and closed her eyes. When she spoke, her voice was soft yet it carried clearly through the hushed silence.
"Heroes who fell defending our world, I appear before you today with my family to honor your ultimate sacrifice. You gave everything in the face of invasion—not for glory or recognition, but to protect countless innocent lives. Your unwavering courage will forever inspire generations to come. The children who live and breathe today do so because of your valor. The future you safeguarded will remember your names and your sacrifice."
She paused, her voice growing stronger as her God Ki pulsed in response to her heartfelt words, causing her hair to briefly shift to a cardinal pink hue. "To the Primordial Gods who watch over all realms, I, Diana Prince, beseech you, please embrace these noble souls. Grant them the peace they have so dearly earned through their sacrifice. And when the time of rebirth comes, guide them to lives filled with joy and wonder, for none deserve such grace more than those who gave everything to protect others."
After Diana's prayer, Rachel solemnly placed her hand over her heart and bowed, with Kara mirroring the gesture. The crowd fell silent, heads bowed in quiet remembrance. Near the monument stood grieving family members whose tears had momentarily ceased at the heroes' arrival. Yet as they witnessed their champions honoring their fallen loved ones and heard Diana's prayer for their souls, fresh tears began to flow - not just of grief, but of gratitude.
Just then a small girl in the crowd tugged at her mother's sleeve, pointing at the three women. "Mommy, look! Wonder Woman's back! And she brought friends!"
Diana turned toward the voice, noticing a little girl besides a woman struggling to contain her tears. Getting up, she approached them, offering a reassuring smile to the woman before kneeling to meet the child's eye level.
"Hello, little one," Diana said warmly. "What's your name?"
"Sarah," the girl replied shyly, hugging her Wonder Woman doll closer to her chest.
"That's a beautiful name, Sarah," Diana smiled, gesturing to the doll. "And who's this brave warrior you're holding?"
Sarah's face lit up with pride. "She's you, Wonder Woman! She's my favorite! Mommy says she keeps me safe at night, just like how you protect everyone!"
Diana's heart warmed at the child's innocent faith. "I can see she does an excellent job. She has the honor of protecting such a strong and brave girl like you."
Sarah's mother wiped away tears. "Thank you," she whispered, her voice thick with emotion.
Diana looked up at the mother and asked gently, "May I ask who you're here to remember today?"
The mother shook her head, her voice wavering. "My husband... he was with the defense force at Padre Island during the invasion. He... didn't make it. But Sarah"—her voice caught slightly—"she's never lost faith in heroes, especially you and Wonder Girl. Seeing Wonder Girl fight the invaders... it kept our hope alive during that time."
Diana rose, placing a comforting hand on the woman's shoulder. "Your husband was a true hero. We're here to honor his memory, and all those who gave their lives protecting others."
"Wonder Woman..." Sarah's small voice drew Diana's attention back. The little girl gazed up with wide, curious eyes. "Was my daddy really a hero? He didn't have special powers like you."
Diana knelt once more, her expression both gentle and solemn. "Powers don't make a hero, Sarah. What makes a hero is protecting others, standing up for what's right, and helping those in need. And that's exactly what your father along with all whose names are on this memorial did. So please remember, your father was truly a hero."
Sarah's mother squeezed her daughter's shoulder as fresh tears welled in her eyes.
"Do you think..." Sarah hesitated, then gathered her courage and asked, "could I be a hero too? Like you and daddy?"
"Of course you can," Diana assured her.
"But..." Sarah's voice dropped to a whisper as she lowered her head. "Those aliens we saw on TV… they were so scary."
Diana gently lifted the child's chin with her finger and met her eyes with a warm smile. "Would you like to know a secret? All heroes feel scared sometimes—even me."
Sarah's eyes widened in astonishment. "Even you get scared, Wonder Woman?"
Diana smiled warmly and nodded. "Yes, Sarah," she said softly. "Even I feel afraid sometimes. And that's something very important I want you to understand." She let go of Sarah's chin and looked directly into the child's eyes, her voice gentle yet firm. "It's okay to be scared. Fear isn't our enemy—it's a gift that protects us. It keeps us alert and mindful. When we feel afraid, it means we've found something precious—something worth defending."
"But..." Sarah's brow furrowed in confusion. "If you're scared, how do you still fight the bad guys?"
Diana offered a gentle smile, as she answered,"This is also why fear is so important. It is the first step towards courage. You see, being brave doesn't mean you never feel afraid—it means choosing to do what's right even when you're scared. That's what makes someone a real hero—just like your father who stood besides his fellow soldiers fighting the bad guys in order to keep your mother and you safe."
She gently touched the Wonder Woman doll in Sarah's arms and continued softly, "And I can see that same courage in you, Sarah. One day, when you're older and stronger, you'll face your own challenges. When that moment comes, you won't need to think about being brave—because in that moment, you'll realize you've been a hero all along."
Sarah's eyes sparkled with new understanding and determination. She stood taller now, still holding her doll close to her heart but not clutching it as tightly—as if some of her fear had dissolved. After a brief pause, she looked up at Diana with hopeful eyes.
"Wonder Woman?" Sarah's voice was soft but steady. "Can... can I give you a hug?"
"Come here, little warrior," Diana opened her arms with a warm smile.
Sarah rushed forward, wrapping her small arms around Diana's neck. In the safety of the embrace, Sarah trembled slightly. Diana, who had sensed the weight of unspoken grief in the child's tight grip from the moment their eyes met, gently stroked her hair. With each stroke, she channeled a small portion of her God Ki into the child, allowing its soothing energy to heal and stabilize the young mind. "You know something else about heroes, Sarah?" she whispered. "They're allowed to cry too."
Still in Diana's embrace, Sarah held on tightly, as if drawing strength from her hero. But, after hearing Diana's whisper, she fell silent for a moment before tightening her grip. "But I want to be strong," Sarah whispered, glancing at her mother. "Like my dad was. I don't want to trouble mom."
"Oh, sweet girl," Diana said softly, "true strength isn't about hiding your feelings. Sometimes the bravest thing we can do is share our sadness with those we love. You and your mother can be strong together."
Sarah pulled back slightly, looking up at Diana with tear-filled eyes before turning to her mother. For the first time that day, she let her tears fall freely as she reached for her mother's hand.
With a sob, Sarah's mother knelt and gathered her daughter in her arms. Together, they held each other close, finally allowing themselves to grieve openly for the hero they had lost, the father and husband who would forever live on in their hearts.
Moved by the emotional atmosphere, other families gathered around the memorial also shed tears as they said their final goodbyes.
Diana gently rose from her spot and turned to leave, wanting to give the mother and daughter the space they needed to heal together.
"You did well, mom," Rachel said softly as she fell into step beside Diana. "That little girl needed to hear those words."
"Indeed," Kara added, her voice gentle. "She's been carrying so much pain inside, trying to be strong for everyone else."
Diana's expression grew solemn. "As a mother myself, I simply did what needed to be done. I understand their pain all too well. They have a difficult road ahead, but healing begins with allowing yourself to grieve." She turned to Rachel, her eyes softening. "We know firsthand the agony of loss. When your father, my love, was banished to the Void Realm, that severed connection... that emptiness... it was almost unbearable. Only my faith in him, the blessing of the Primordial Goddess, and my love for you kept me going."
Rachel's expression mirrored her mother's solemnity. "I know exactly what you mean, Mom. Losing Father like that... I hated every moment of it. It felt like the darkness he'd rescued me from might pull me back in." She raised her head and looked up at the ship above before continuing, "You and I were just beginning to build our bond then. What kept me going was my faith in Dad and the promise I made him—to be there for you, to protect you. That's what gave me strength to continue." Her voice trailed off, heavy with those painful memories.
"We were fortunate," Diana continued, placing a comforting hand on her daughter's shoulder. "Orach returned to us, our family whole once more. But they..." She paused, taking a steadying breath. "They won't have that chance. All they can do now is be there for each other, find strength in their shared love and memories."
"Rachel told me about what happened," Kara said quietly. "The scale of power, beings like Orach operate on... it's almost impossible to believe if I hadn't met Orach myself. What that cosmic entity did..."
"Perpetua will answer for her crimes," Rachel interjected, her eyes blazing with dark magical fire as killing intent radiated from her very being. "Hand of Creation or not, she will pay for what she's done!"
"My, my… what impressive killing intent you're radiating, little one." A calm, yet playful voice cut through their conversation, immediately putting them all on alert. Even Diana, with her enhanced senses, hadn't detected any approach.
Space rippled and folded as three figures stepped through, materializing before them. Diana, Rachel, and Kara's eyes widened slightly as they recognized them—particularly the man at their head and the elegant, red-haired woman at his side.
The man's lips curved into an intrigued smile as his gaze landed on Raven. "Though I must say, I'm quite curious about this 'Hand of Creation' that dared to banish one of our own."
Behind them appeared Barbara in her Cheetah form. As her gaze met Diana's, joy flickered in her eyes, and unable to contain herself, she darted forward. "Di!" she cried, embracing her friend fiercely. "Welcome back!"
Diana's face lit up with genuine warmth as she returned the embrace. "Barbara," she said softly. "It's so good to see you."
When they parted, Cheetah's eyes widened. "Wow, Di, you look amazing... Have you grown taller? And that armor—"
Diana chuckled softly. "A lot happened during our trip. I'll tell you everything later."
"You'd better," Cheetah said, then turned to Rachel with a fond smile. "And you too, Rachel. Welcome home."
"Good to be back," Rachel replied with a small but sincere nod, her face shadowed beneath her hood as she turned her gaze to their unexpected visitors.
As Cheetah's questioning glance fell on Kara, Diana stepped forward. "Barbara, this is Kara Zor-El, last daughter of Krypton and Superman's cousin." She then turned to Kara. "Kara, meet Barbara Minerva—my dear friend and formidable warrior known as Cheetah."
Cheetah's eyes widened as she studied the blonde woman. "Another Kryptonian? And Superman's cousin... That explains both the El surname and the House of El symbol." She offered Kara a welcoming smile. "Welcome to Earth, Kara. It's a pleasure to meet you."
"Thank you," Kara replied, returning the smile genuinely. "Rachel has told me much about you."
"Good things, I hope," Cheetah said with a playful smirk while glancing at Raven.
Ahem
In the next moment, a polite throat-clearing drew their attention back to their unexpected visitors. Cheetah's ears flattened slightly in embarrassment as she realized her mistake. "Oh! My apologies," she said quickly, gesturing to the waiting pair. "Diana, may I present Young Heavenly Emperor Adirosas and his wife, Queen Aurelia of the Red Flame Dragons. They... they say they're Orach's family."
Diana's expression turned thoughtful as she recalled Orach's description about his six siblings. Though she sensed immense power radiating from Aurelia, Adirosas's presence was eerily quiet—his control so complete that not even a whisper of power leaked through. 'Remarkable,' she thought. 'Even Orach couldn't maintain such perfect control before his ascension.' Yet despite their overwhelming power, her posture remained perfectly at ease—she trusted Orach's judgment implicitly.
Meeting their piercing gazes, she spoke in a clear, measured voice while giving a slight bow of her head—a gesture that balanced both respect for the higher realm beings in front of her and the dignity befitting her position as Orach's future wife. "Greetings, Adirosas, Aurelia. This is an unexpected surprise." Her eyes flashed momentarily as her God Ki rippled outward. "I am Diana of Themyscira, Orach's chosen and future mistress of House Gula. My daughter and I had hoped to join Orach after paying our respects to Earth's fallen heroes for proper introductions." A gentle smile touched her lips. "I wanted to thank you personally—both for your aid in defending my world and for protecting my dear sister during the recent conflict."
Her eyes narrowed slightly as they returned to Cheetah. "However, I must ask..." There was a protective edge to her voice now. "How is it that you came to be traveling with my friend?"
Adirosas and Aurelia exchanged meaningful glances. They had arrived intending to test their brother Orach's chosen bride, but Diana's composed bearing and the dignified way she carried herself gave them pause. More striking was the flash of her God Ki - and what Aurelia saw in that moment through her draconic sight.
Behind Diana in that moment, stood a massive, otherworldly silhouette, its crimson eyes fixed upon them with ancient, predatory intent. The sight sent an involuntary shiver down Aurelia's spine - she, the Queen of Red Flame Dragons, found herself unsettled by the presence lurking within this lower realm being.
'Impossible...' Aurelia's thoughts raced as she shared a telepathic message with her husband. 'That presence... could she truly possess...?' The question remained unfinished, but the implications were clear. This was no ordinary mortal their brother had chosen.
The advanced Saiyan technology Diana and her companions wore spoke volumes of Orach's commitment to them. His careful preparation of his chosen bride was evident in her composed acceptance of their presence and her knowledge of their station.
"Well met, Lady Diana of Themyscira," Adirosas spoke, his initial playfulness replaced by genuine respect. His azure eyes studied her with newfound interest. "Perhaps I should start calling you sister-in-law already, given how well you carry yourself."
Aurelia's fierce dragon eyes softened and shifted to their normal form as she regarded Diana with approval. "Indeed. Most beings from the lower realms would tremble in our presence, yet you stand before us with both grace and authority." A warm smile graced her features. "Brother Orach chose well. You possess the bearing of a true empress, and when the time comes..." She extended her hand in a gesture of acceptance. "I look forward to welcoming you as family into the higher realms."
Diana bowed her head slightly. "Your words and acceptance honor me and I looked forward to spend time with both you as family," she replied. "But I must ask about Cheetah's presence with you."
"Diana, it's fine," Cheetah said softly, touching her shoulder. "Adirosas and Aurelia stayed on Earth after the war, waiting for you and Orach. They're living at Wayne Manor now." She blushed slightly. "As for me... I moved in with Bruce. I couldn't let him brood alone during his patrols. It's become my home."
Her expression turned troubled for a moment as she sighed. "Lady Aurelia discovered I was a cultivator during the battle. Since I'm close to you and showed promising potential, she took me under her wing. She's been training me—we had actually just finished a session when we spotted your ship in the sky and saw you on the news." She gestured toward the distant journalists documenting Wonder Woman's return. "We came straight here."
Diana's blue eyes softened at Barbara's explanation. Turning to Aurelia, she bowed—causing murmurs of surprise from the crowd. "Thank you, Aurelia," she said, straightening up with a warm smile. "I appreciate you taking care of someone so important to me."
Aurelia's expression warmed. "Don't mention it. She has decent potential. Besides, as future sisters-in-law, your loved ones are important to me too."
"Speaking of my brother," Adirosas said, glancing at the ship overhead, "where is he?"
"He must still be on the ship," Diana said, looking up at the vessel with a puzzled expression. "The plan was for him to find you both first," she explained, gesturing to Raven, "and then we would join you afterward."
"It's alright," Adirosas's attention then shifted to Raven, his eyes lighting with interest. "So, you're my niece..." His eyes flashed purple as he attempted to examine her magical potential, but suddenly found himself confronted by a magnificent spectral raven wreathed in dark flames. The apparition's wings spread protectively around Raven, its gaze fixed warily upon him. "Impressive soul manifestation," he remarked with a widening smile, "though not enough to—"
Before he could finish, a powerful yet familiar voice thundered through his mind: "ENOUGH! NO FURTHER!"
Adirosas stumbled back, his eyes wide with shock. The sudden resistance had caught him completely off guard. 'A soul shard. And that voice… brother?'
Before he could process further, Raven's aura erupted in a burst of raw power. Dark wings unfurled behind her while a ring of dark magical fire blazed in their wake. Beneath her hood, two pairs of eyes glowed with intensity. "You claim to be my uncle, yet you dare invade my inner realm?" Her voice trembled with barely contained fury. "I don't care what you were trying to do—this is NOT acceptable! If you want to know something, you ASK!"
Adirosas stared at his niece, puzzled by her intense reaction but hearing her words, he quickly realized his mistake. As a powerful mage of the higher realms, he had wanted nothing more than to be a doting uncle who could guide her magical cultivation. But his casual attempt to scan her inner realm had clearly crossed a line.
"My apologies, niece. I meant no harm—I was merely examining your inner realm to understand your talent. Here, let me show you..." He extended his left hand and murmured, "Verdant Srishti." In an instant, lush vegetation bloomed around the memorial site, creating a breathtaking flower bed. "You see, I am a mage. I only wished to be an uncle you could turn to for guidance. I wanted to gauge your talent, nothing more. I sincerely apologize if I offended you."
Then, in a gesture that would send shockwaves through the higher realms, one of the seven Young Heavenly Emperors bowed his head.
Aurelia tensed at the sight, her fists clenching. The thought of her husband, one of the seven Young Heavenly Emperors, bowing to anyone - even their niece - filled her with indignation. She wanted to intervene, but Adirosas squeezed her hand, silently asking her to wait.
"Raven," Diana stepped forward and spoke gently. "Remember how your father sometimes struggles with our customs? Your uncle is the same—he's new to our world. He meant well, and he is family. Could you find it in your heart to forgive him?"
Raven hearing this, took a deep breath, her anger subsiding as she carefully reined in her powers. The dark wings and magical fire dissipated as she regained her composure. "Please rise, Uncle. You are an Emperor, and I accept your apology."
Before Adirosas could respond, she continued, "I understand you are my father's beloved brother, and I would be honored to learn magic from you. However, in our culture, we value privacy deeply. My inner realm is sacred space - only my parents may enter it. No exceptions."
"I understand now," Adirosas nodded thoughtfully. "Thank you for teaching me this, niece."
"But husband," Aurelia protested, "such examinations are standard practice—"
Adirosas raised his hand gently. "She is family, dear. We must respect their ways as we hope they will respect ours."
Sensing the lingering tension through her empathic abilities, Raven bowed respectfully to both her aunt and uncle. "I too must apologize for my outburst. It's clear we have much to learn about each other and our respective cultures. However, that's no excuse for how I reacted. You are meant to be my family and my elders—I should have expressed myself more calmly. Perhaps we could start anew?"
"Good idea," Adirosas said warmly, turning to his wife with a playful wink. "What do you think, my dear?"
Aurelia observed her niece thoughtfully. The girl's sincere apology and strong sense of principles had impressed her, despite her initial displeasure. With a gentle smile, she nodded. "Yes, let's begin anew. I believe we have much to learn from each other."
"In fact," Adirosas added with a mischievous smile, "Aurelia has been quite eager to meet you. She's been planning ways to spoi—"
"Choose your next words carefully, husband," Aurelia interrupted, her sweet tone carrying a hint of warning that made Adirosas visibly straighten.
"—to spend time getting to know you better," he finished diplomatically, earning amused looks from both Raven and Diana.
Watching their interaction, Raven felt a familiar warmth spread through her chest. Their playful banter reminded her so much of her own parents that she could easily see how Adirosas and her father were brothers.
The moment was interrupted by the distinctive sound of a boom tube opening nearby. Through the portal stepped Batman, Superman, and Cyborg, their expressions grave as they surveyed the scene.
Kara's eyes narrowed as she studied Superman - her cousin, though he didn't know it yet. Her gaze then shifted to Batman, whose presence reminded her of their tense encounters during the simulation training. The Dark Knight, already briefed by Martian Manhunter, returned her look with equal intensity.
"You certainly took your time," Diana called out warmly. "How are you three?"
"Good to see you, Diana," Superman replied with a genuine smile. "And Raven - welcome back, both of you." His expression turned curious as he noticed Kara, particularly the familiar symbol on her chest. "Pardon me miss, but I have to ask - why are you wearing the House of El emblem?"
Diana instinctively moved to introduce them, but caught Kara's subtle headshake. The message was clear - she wanted to handle this herself.
"Not here," Batman interrupted, his voice carrying its characteristic gravelly tone. He gestured toward the gathering crowd of reporters, their cameras and microphones trained on the group. "We should move somewhere more private."
"Cyborg, please open a boomtube to the Hall of Justice," Batman stated firmly. "We can discuss everything there."
"Agreed," Diana agreed, turning to her companions. "Adirosas, Aurelia - would you and Barbara join us?"
Adirosas exchanged a quick glance with his wife before nodding. "Sure. Until, brother shows himself, we have nothing to do anyway."
"Ready," Cyborg interjected, his cybernetic eye scanning the gathered group, "I've already calibrated the boom tube to accommodate everyone here. Whenever you're ready."
Superman's gaze hadn't left Kara, his expression a mix of curiosity and caution. "Yes, let's move this conversation somewhere more appropriate."
As the group prepared to depart, Raven moved closer to her mother, speaking softly, "The reporters are going to have a field day with this, aren't they?"
Diana smiled wryly. "Let them speculate. We have more important matters to discuss."
With a nod from Batman, Cyborg activated the boom tube, its vortex expanding to encompass their enlarged party. One by one, they stepped through, leaving behind a crowd of astonished onlookers and frantically clicking cameras.
Earth- Isolated Separate Dimension
While the Justice League members departed from the memorial site, in another dimension, different guardians faced their own troubles. Inside the House of Mystery, John Constantine slumped in his favorite armchair, nursing a glass of whiskey alongside several fresh wounds. His bloodied trenchcoat lay torn across a nearby chair.
"Bloody hell," he muttered, wincing as he dabbed at a cut above his eye. "That was one nasty demon we faced today."
Zatanna emerged from the shadows, her own costume showing signs of the recent battle. "No, it wasn't. Whatever that entity was, it knew exactly what it was looking for." She paused, her expression grim. "They took the Dreamstone... we can't let them keep it."
Constantine took a long drink before responding. "Love, that thing tore through our strongest wards like they were tissue paper. First time in years I've seen something powerful enough to breach the House's defenses." He gestured at the scorch marks still visible on the walls. "Whatever that thing was, going by the power it packed, it's ancient. And…I hate to admit it but,…we are going to need help."
Zatanna stepped forward, her expression a mix of concern and amusement as she bent before Constantine. Studying his battered face, she gently placed a hand on his forehead.
"Well now love, while I'm enjoying the view," John drawled with a smirk, eyeing the daring neckline before him, "I'd better not get too excited – might tear these wounds open again."
"Oh, hush," she murmured, checking his temperature with gentle fingers despite her stern expression. "No fever... but maybe you have a concussion? It's the only explanation for what I just heard—John Constantine actually admitting he needs help."
"Oi," Constantine grimaced, though his eyes held a hint of fondness. "Careful love, my pride's already taken enough of a beating today."
Zatanna stood up with a chuckle. "I have to say, this is a refreshing change of pace—you actually being reasonable for once."
"Don't get used to it," Constantine grumbled, wincing as he shifted in his chair. "But whatever took that Dreamstone... we're out of our depth here, Zee."
Zatanna's expression grew serious. "Agreed. I'll contact Batman - we'll need to explain our absence from the recent conflict anyway." She paused, glancing at her phone with a troubled look. "And from what I'm seeing in the news, things aren't getting any simpler out there."
Constantine pushed himself up from his chair with a grunt, limping over to one of the House's many bookshelves. "That thing was looking for something specific in the artifacts room before it got to the Dreamstone. Been wracking my brain trying to figure out what."
"The timing can't be coincidental," Zatanna mused, following him. "First Darkseid's invasion, now this. Something's stirring."
Constantine pulled out an ancient tome, its leather binding cracked with age. "And with those new higher realm beings showing up..." He trailed off, flipping through yellowed pages.
"You think they're connected?" Zatanna asked, peering over his shoulder at the archaic text.
"Don't know, love. But Earth's becoming a regular hotspot for cosmic powers lately." He paused on a particular page, his expression darkening. "And that usually means trouble's brewing."
Zatanna placed a gentle hand on his shoulder. "I'll contact Batman. Maybe the Justice League's gathered some intel we could use. And John?" She waited until he looked up. "Try not to do anything reckless while I'm gone."
Constantine managed a roguish grin despite his injuries. "Now where's the fun in that?"
Rolling her eyes fondly, Zatanna headed for the door, already pulling out her communicator to contact the Dark Knight. As she left, Constantine turned back to his book, muttering under his breath about ancient seals and dimensional barriers. Something wasn't adding up, and he intended to figure out what before it was too late.
