On a dark, silent night, a boy was running, clutching a notebook tightly to his chest as if it were a part of him.
It was Rey. He sprinted through the streets, his right hand bleeding lightly as he held his precious notes.
After a few tense minutes, he glanced back.
No one was there.
Only then did he breathe a sigh of relief, his frantic heart slowly calming.
Slowing to a cautious walk, he reached his house ten minutes later. He approached the front door quietly and slid in the spare key, opening it without a sound.
Tiptoeing toward his room, Rey noticed plates set on the dining table. Curious, he approached and found a small serving of food along with a handwritten note.
"Son, don't get so worked up; relax for a while, okay? Because Emmy and I are always with you."— 💛 Mom & Emmy
A soft smile formed on Rey's face.
And then, tears.
He didn't know when they began to fall, but a few warm drops stained the paper. He gently crumpled the note in his palm, wiped his eyes, washed his hands, and quietly finished the food.
Then, without a word, he headed to his room.
He entered silently and placed both the notebook and the strange round object he had picked up on the table. Sitting down, he began tending to the wound on his hand, unaware that a single drop of blood had just fallen onto the object.
Fzzzt—
The object shimmered faintly.
But Rey didn't notice.
After bandaging his hand, he glanced at the clock.
11:08 PM.
He yawned and lay down on his bed, finally letting himself rest.
Just as sleep began to take hold—
Clatter.
His eyes snapped open.
The peculiar object had fallen to the floor.
Before Rey could even react, a sudden flash of light illuminated his room—followed by the appearance of a middle-aged man with strange robes and a piercing gaze.
"Do you wish to rule over this world?" the man asked solemnly.
Rey froze. His instincts screamed.
That man… had come out of the object!
Without hesitation, Rey jumped up, grabbed the object, and hurled it out the open window.
Slam!
He shut the window immediately and leaned against the wall, exhaling sharply, trying to make sense of what just happened.
But before he could fully collect himself—
The man reappeared.
Right in front of him.
Floating.
And clearly irritated.
Rey tensed, but said nothing.
The man sighed, crossing his arms.
"Let's begin with introductions, shall we? My name is Aiden," he said, flashing a self-assured grin. "And you are?"
Rey narrowed his eyes.
"I'm not sure who you are, but I'd prefer not to talk to strangers," he replied calmly. "Especially not ones who pop out of glowing objects and talk about ruling the world."
He took a step back.
"I have a family to protect. Whatever this is, I want no part of it."
But something deep inside Rey… stirred.
