Elvira was a woman scorned. Cheated on by an unfaithful husband who had the audacity to bring his affair partner and their bastard child into her home before kicking her onto the streets. Unfortunately, there was nothing she could do at the time.
Eventually she gave up on trying to get revenge and could only watch as her former husband married a new younger bride, raising the child in the house that she helped build. She decided that life wasn't worth living at that point as she knew that she could never trust enough to love another again.
Every ounce of love she had for her former husband had turned to hate. With that hate, she wrote a letter and stabbed it into her own heart on the top of a cliff. The knife to the heart would have killed her, but the fall made sure it happened. Everything went black as she drifted towards the ground, her final wish stabbed into herself in the hope someone would one day fulfill it.
As her sight came back to her, she was staring absentmindedly at an old man whose skin was taught to his bones, he looked as if he would die at any moment. However, the words spoken to her would forever change her life.
"Oooh, you must have had immense hatred to raise as a banshee. Go, take your revenge for yourself. Once you're finished, come find me." The man spoke as he gave her a map with an X drawn on it in the middle of nowhere.
Elvira didn't completely understand what was happening or what he was talking about until she looked down at her own body and noticed that there was a knife sticking out of her chest. She yanked the knife out and looked at the letter attached to it. It was her handwriting, her last wishes that she hoped to entrust to another.
She watched as the wound created by the knife. closed with new fresh skin. There was no blood on the knife, and she couldn't feel the beating of her heart anymore, but she was somehow alive.
As she flexed her fingers, she fell back in a start as she became semi-translucent with elongated fingernails that resembled daggers.
'Turn back! Turn back! Turn back!' She screamed in her head and to her surprise, her skin changed to a flawless pearl white, much like she looked when she was a young maiden.
This wasn't the end of the surprises though as over the next few days she discovered that she could fly while she was translucent and all it took was a simple thought to change back and forth. She also noticed that when in her regular appearance, she was far stronger than even the strongest person that lived in her previous village, and he was a 4th stage magic warrior!
Thinking back to the mysterious man who told her to get her own revenge, Elvira began laughing maniacally, she was going to do more than just get her revenge now!
The first place she visited was her home village, walking straight to her old home. She was surprised when she saw a woman in her mid-thirties watching a few children ranging from 5-12 playing in the yard before the house.
The woman was definitely the one she remembered her husband bringing home, but she was at least a decade older than she remembered. Had that long really passed since she dropped from the clifftop? Was revenge even worth it at this point?
Yes. The answer in her mind was yes.
Rather than taking her revenge immediately though, she sat and watched. She waited. She wanted to see the bastard that ruined her life before she took action.
However, several days passed and there was still no sign of him. She decided to take a closer look around the area, only to discover a tombstone. He had died. That bastard had died five years ago! How was she supposed to get her revenge now?!
Her anger boiled over at this point and she uncontrollably changed to her translucent banshee form, screaming in rage. What erupted was such a high-pitched shriek that all of the animals within five kilometers of the small woodland cottage dropped to the ground, blood coming from their ears. The smaller animals died on the spot while the larger ones looked to be mindless now.
Even the nearby villagers were affected as those without a core died instantly and the mages with a core fainted on the spot. Even the village chief himself, a 4th stage warrior, was stunned in place with a mindless expression for many minutes.
When Elvira finally came back to her senses after screaming, she realized something was strange as the forest was strangely silent. Even the laughter of the children running around the property and inside the house had stopped.
Deciding to look around, she found the woman and children. All lying motionless on the ground, blood pouring from their ears. They were dead. She had killed them without meaning to. How? Why did that happen?
She never meant to kill the children, she only wanted to kill her cheating husband and ruin the face of his new wife. It wasn't supposed to be like this!
As she stood in stunned silence, a voice was heard yelling out orders. "That shriek had to be a banshee! Find it! Remove her heart for killing our families!"
Realizing that her simple rage-induced scream had affected not only this small cottage, but also the village nearby, she quickly took to the skies and abandoned the area in fear.
As she flew away, she thought about what she had done, but it seemed that the part of her that at one point would have grieved for killing so many innocent people had died with her when she fell from the cliff.
Now, she had one thought. To get revenge for all the women scorned, just like her! Any married man who dared to have an affair would die miserably knowing that they should have stayed faithful!
Over the next few years, rumors spread of a gorgeous woman seducing married men into bed and then killing them the second they started the act with her. Elvira moved from area to area until eventually towns and villages had signs posted ahead of her arrival, warning that unfaithful men would perish.
Eventually she became the horror story that parents told their children to warn them about being unfaithful to their partner. With this, she was satisfied. It had been many decades since she had risen up below the cliff, and she was now ready to find the man who gave her such an opportunity.
She was worried that he would no longer be in the same place as it had been many years, but to her surprise, she found it. A large complex hidden deep within a mountain ravine. When she arrived, a terrifying looking mummified corpse-looking being walked towards her with a massive sword strung across his back.
However, rather than attack her, it stopped and spoke, "The Master has been waiting for you. Please come this way."
After that, she met Sevrin, who now looked even more decayed than before. Half of his skin was falling off of his face and his jaw and teeth were showing, but he moved around just like anyone else.
She came to know that he was a lich, and now her master when he demonstrated his ability to make her do anything he wanted. He didn't make her do anything immoral though, only made her change into her banshee form while performing a mid-air worm wiggle, causing him to laugh his hip off, literally.
Elvira began to serve him dutifully, performing each and every task he gave her to the best of her ability. Anytime she returned with good results, he would reward her with things that she always wanted, but eventually she desired something more, she wanted him.
Sevrin, rather than finding her request audacious of him as her master, instead calmly declined and moved on with his work. However, Elvira didn't give up. She remained persist and finally after thousands of years together, she was finally allowed to have the reward she wanted after delivering a precious Jade Eye Crow corpse to him.
Unfortunately, Sevrin's manhood had long rotted away, but if it was for his precious commander, he was willing to research how to bring his flesh back and make it function. It took a few years, but he succeeded.
Elvira would then proceed to indulge herself with his body while he continued his research. However, after the first few times, he found it to be oddly pleasurable himself, not realizing that he could still feel such a thing.
The difference between the two was that while Elvira had fallen deeply in love with Sevrin, he was just rewarding a servant and being pleasured. His only cares in the world were his research and moving on to the next world.
Elvira knew this, but she didn't care. As long as she could be with him, she would continue to faithfully serve him until the end of time.
...
Elvira was distractedly flying through the sky, looking for some man that her beloved Sevrin had deemed necessary for his research. She wasn't the best tracker in the group, but her persistence in finding the target usually paid off for her as she could search areas that the others couldn't.
Suddenly, she felt a drop of water fall onto her head and she looked up while frowning. "When did these storm clouds form? Ugh, I hate rain."
Over the years of being a banshee, she discovered that water infused or created with mana was extremely painful to her and acted on her skin much like fire burning up a tree. Rather than burning into smoke though, she would melt.
Fortunately, rain was natural water and only had the ambient mana of nature in it, so it didn't harm her at all. Despite this, she still hated it as the feeling on her skin as it would bring back memories of her skin melting off her body.
Ignoring the rain and clouds, she continued searching but soon noticed that she was feeling pain with every droplet of rain that touched her skin. Her eyes widened as she knew what was occurring wasn't natural, but before she could flee, her worst nightmare began.
A storm like nothing she had seen before began, rain poured from the clouds as the wind whipped her around like a ragdoll. She couldn't stabilize herself enough in the air to retreat to the ground and find somewhere safe to hide and recuperate.
She tried to scream, but the wind blowing around her overpowered any sound she made. All she had was the desire to shed tears that never came as her skin began to melt and fall from the sky, as if she had been dipped in acid.
By the time she thought about trying to grab the communication crystal to contact Sevrin, her hands had already melted from her body.
She forcefully used all the mana in her body to try and gain enough control to retreat, but just as she started to feel she was making progress, she felt a sharp pain burst through her back and out of her chest.
Looking down, she saw her ghostly heart within a black clawed reptilian hand. Then as if squeezing an egg, she watched as her heart burst. The hand then withdrew from her back as she began to fall to the ground. Her life of undeath had finally come to a close, she only had one thought now:
"I'm sorry, my beloved."
