Chapter 589: Unity Restored
Outside Dragon Island, Xiao Ze regarded the monstrous figure before him. The bloody hues had been vaporized by the golden thunder, leaving only crimson marks on the robust body. The two heads displayed terror, remnants of life's end madness, as if desperate to fight to the death. However, the power of the Jiu Xuan Golden Thunder prevented the North Dragon King from detonating himself in his final moments.
Xiao Ze contemplated how to refine the North Dragon King's corpse into a puppet. Although his current strength no longer required the protection of a five-star Dou Saint level North Dragon King, possessing such a puppet could significantly benefit his forces and friends.
Ziyan blinked, relieved, and gazing at Xiao Ze's back, she thought to herself, "Xiao Ze, thank you for being by my side."
Xiao Ze suddenly turned and asked Ziyan, "Ziyan, may I handle the North Dragon King's corpse?"
"No problem," Ziyan replied. "Such a creature, who killed his kin to enhance his power, does not deserve a place in the Dragon Tomb; it would be an insult to our ancestors."
Recalling that Xiao Ze had some Dou Zun level puppets, Ziyan ventured, "Xiao Ze, are you planning to turn the North Dragon King's body into a puppet?"
"That's the plan. Despite his many crimes, his body is indeed of five-star Dou Saint caliber—perfect for recycling."
As Xiao Ze stored the North Dragon King's corpse into his ring, he chuckled and suggested, "Now, as the Dragon Emperor, you should make an announcement."
Excitement flickered in Ziyan's eyes. She raised her ancient dragon spear and proclaimed to Dragon Island, "The traitors who divided the Taixu Ancient Dragons, the North and South Dragon Kings, have been slain. From this day forth, the Taixu Ancient Dragons shall be united under one banner!"
Her authoritative voice echoed far and wide. Inside Dragon Island, countless Taixu Ancient Dragons knelt, cheering loudly, "We pledge allegiance to the Dragon Emperor!" Even the Eastern Dragon Island troops knelt, joyously chanting the same.
The elders bowed deeply to Ziyan, some with tears streaming down their faces. "Our Taixu Ancient Dragons are unified once more, thanks to the Dragon Emperor and Xiao Ze."
Ziyan then ordered the elders to organize the clan on Dragon Island and address past grievances. While most clan members were coerced by the three dragon kings and did not commit severe atrocities, a few had willingly served the dragon kings and ruthlessly murdered their kin. Ziyan could not overlook these individuals.
As the Dragon Emperor, if she did not address these wrongdoings justly, it would be a significant oversight. Even though everyone had surrendered, she could not ignore their past crimes.
Once everything settled, the elders gathered in the council hall. Ziyan took her seat at the head, with Xiao Ze casually seated beside her. The elders, especially those responsible for the previous investigation, appeared anxious.
An elder presented a jade slip to Ziyan, reporting, "After the war, we found that the North Dragon King secretly set up the Dragon Transformation Array but fortunately, it didn't cause a great disaster. He seemed to act alone, only consuming the South Dragon King and his loyal followers after being discovered."
The responsible elders sighed in relief but remained slightly worried; their oversight could have led to a catastrophe had Xiao Ze not returned and quelled the situation.
Ziyan browsed the information in the jade slip and softened her expression. "Given the circumstances, you didn't harm ordinary clan members. However, to ignore your negligence is also impossible."
Tapping her fingers on the table, she pondered their punishment and looked at Xiao Ze, who seemed lost in thought. An idea struck her.
"Since Xiao Ze helped resolve this crisis, you will represent the Taixu Ancient Dragons at the Alchemy Guild headquarters. There, you will face the Soul Palace and even the Soul Clan, serving as atonement."
The elders were relieved, knowing the alliance with the Alchemy Guild was a historic move for their usually secluded clan. After witnessing Xiao Ze's strength, they felt fortunate about the alliance.
"It's more of an honor than a punishment to support the Alchemy Guild against the Soul Palace and the Soul Clan," one elder remarked.
Ziyan nodded. "Given your roles, it's fitting. Xiao Ze, what do you think?"
Xiao Ze looked at the elders, saw their hopeful expressions, and nodded. "Of course, the Alchemy Guild needs top-tier combatants to match the Soul Palace and Soul Clan. Thank you, elders, for your assistance."
With smiles, the elders bowed, "We will follow the Dragon Emperor's orders and support the Alchemy Guild."
As the elders discussed their new roles, everyone understood the significance of their tasks. What was a punishment also turned into an opportunity—a chance to stand by Xiao Ze, a potential pinnacle figure on the Dou Qi Continent.
