Manman returned home and took the child from Mrs. Yao. Mrs. Yao asked, "Where's your mom?"
"She hasn't come back," Manman said simply.
Mrs. Yao figured that possibly meant Mrs. Lu was going to spend the night at the hospital with Gu Mo, saying, "If your mom doesn't return, your dad surely won't either. Was your brother at the hospital all day?"
Not just her brother; her younger brother had been there too. If it weren't for the two little ones at home needing milk and sleep, she would have been at the hospital too, accompanying Gu Mo on his last night. Tomorrow, Gu Mo was to enter the operating room.
Mrs. Yao, thinking she couldn't manage alone at home, muttered, "Really now," and asked, "Where's your husband?"
