"Mom, how come I've never met your brother before? And what does he do for a living?" Song Yangyao asked, her brow furrowed in confusion.
Chen Xinyi whirled on her daughter, eyes flashing with irritation. "Shut up with your dumb questions! All you need to know is that he will figure out a way to get us out of this mess."
Yangyao recoiled at her mother's sharp tone but remained silent, sensing there was much more her dear mother was keeping secret. An hour trickled by with agonizing slowness as Chen Xinyi paced the holding cell like a caged panther, leaving Yangyao to nurse her injuries in the corner.
Meanwhile, at the opulent offices of Song Group headquarters, Song Bo sat pensively behind his massive mahogany desk. His jaw clenched as he replayed Chen Xinyi's frantic phone call in his mind. He was still seething over the way she had entrapped him into marriage all those years ago by faking a pregnancy and essentially purchasing Huang Yanyan from the shadows.
