Kellen kept adjusting the edge of the apron, embarrassed. He really, really hoped that Rhys came home alone.
It wasn't as if Rhys had ever come home with someone else before, not without letting Kellen know that beforehand, but today? Today was the day that he really hoped that didn't happen.
With Kellen being as nervous and embarrassed that he was, he had started working away cooking in the kitchen. He was a lot awkward about the breeze, but he did his best to not pay attention to it.
Instead, he fell into the old habits of making dough, rolling out balls, and the smell of cookies filling the air. It was therapeutic, and Kellen realised as soon as he started cooking to calm himself down that it had been a while since he'd allotted himself the time to do this. He just thought that because Rhys was so busy into the evenings that he wouldn't want a home cooked meal, or that he would have already eaten.
