What is space?
Chu Ning lay atop the lake surface, with a gentle breeze stirring ripples in the water.
Spring breezes are prone to mischief, causing ripples to dance upon the water.
(There's absolutely no meaning in this phrase, those who thought otherwise owe a monthly ticket vote)
The water's surface undulated slowly, and each ripple was magnified countless times in Chu Ning's eyes.
He saw that before a ripple was even born, there was a peculiar fluctuation. The path of this fluctuation was akin to the wriggling of a tadpole. With this invisible trembling, the ripples began to form on the surface of the water, spreading outward as the trembling increased. When the trembling peaked and started to slow, the ripples also gradually lost their momentum until they completely returned to the calm lake surface.
This was the first ripple, followed by a second.
Each ripple repeated these scenes; Chu Ning was immersed in this marvelous birth and demise of a space within a ripple.
