Early this morning, someone discovered bright sausages hanging in the town square.
They were dressed in their most solemn uniforms from when they were alive. Their skin, drained of blood, appeared shriveled and tough, revealing a deathly bluish-black hue.
They were not bound and hung on the lampposts or streetlights of the town square... but were hanged by stretching their necks on newly made, still relatively fresh gallows, just like a batch of freshly executed criminals. Their hands were nailed together in front of them to a plank, on which were written in dried blood the striking words "Thief," "Liar," "Cheat."
Many among them were not familiar to the residents of Leipzig. Some wore morning suits, others evening gowns, and some ancient noble attire from the Imperial Era... In short, they all seemed to be people of importance, yet they were not familiar to the crowd.
—But there was one man whom everyone in Leipzig recognized.
