When Aleister first met the two of them, he clearly felt a strange sense of detachment—a bizarre disconnect that was hard to describe, akin to a theater actor wearing their costume but speaking to you in everyday tones, odd as that sounds.
Because he had made preparations for death, he spoke as if he was giving his final testament, saying whatever came to mind without any reservations. There was no need for scheming or exchanging information... whatever Aleister wanted to know, they would tell him.
... That mindset was like a player who had decided to AFK (leave the game for a long term or permanently); if they encountered another player with problems or needing help, they would give whatever they had to solve the issue.
It's an attitude of "not caring much about these things anymore." The helped could always distinctly feel that "the other seemed to be planning to quit."
