The sunlight had reached its peak at noon, filling the room with warmth. Xu Xunsheng played one of her songs, and Cen Ye pulled up a chair to sit across from her, listening silently. Light and melodies seemed to dance between her fingers as if time itself was moving very slowly.
When the song ended, Xu Xunsheng said, "Isn't it time to go to work?"
Cen Ye nodded and added, "There's something else I need to tell you: I asked a friend to write the song that Jiang Xinpan will sing for the movie. I won't write it."
Xu Xunsheng looked at him, saying nothing.
A teasing smile flashed in his eyes as he asked, "Aren't you going to praise me?"
Xu Xunsheng said, "I never said you couldn't write for her, so what's there to praise?"
His eyes sparkled as he replied, "Okay, I don't want to write for her, it has nothing to do with you." He mumbled to himself, "Who made me already sleep with someone? I don't have the heart to write songs for another woman."
