Chapter 661 - Chapter 661: Lost Civilization and Successful Deception

In Andy's opinion, while the paths to the ultimate goal of magic may be different, it is still possible to learn from each other.

Among the seven principles of alchemy, the principle of mind is one of them.

Everything has a spirit/mind/soul.

This may be the common ground between alchemy and magic spells.

"But it's still a bit early to talk about this."

Andy added, "I haven't even started yet!"

Hermione leaned over to look at Andy's notes. "Are you learning runes?"

"That's the basis of alchemy," Andy said.

Ancient Runes at Hogwarts covered alchemical runes. But Ancient Runes is not a specialised alchemy course and focuses more on translating ancient scripts.

Andy has to rely on self-study when it comes to alchemy.

Each runic symbol carries a specific meaning, and when combined together, they will produce a magical effect.

"It looks like a different language, with its own set of rules," Hermione observed.

"Of course, it is a language!"

Andy said. "These symbols may be the writing of a lost civilisation, forgotten by history."

"Perhaps long ago, wizards had their own kingdoms."

"Instead of having to hide in the countries founded by Muggles, as we do now."

Hermione's eyes lit up at this. "You mean...King Arthur?"

In the wizarding world, Merlin really did once exist.

Some even firmly believed that Merlin had graduated from Slytherin.

However, the records of King Arthur, who was related to Merlin, were vague, and the stories related to him were even considered to be folk history and myths.

In the history of the Muggles, there were also no records of King Arthur.

This is very weird!

A real wizard in the wizarding world is inexplicably associated with a king from a legend.

Who made up these stories?

"You suspect that King Arthur founded a wizard kingdom, but for some reason, this history has been hidden?" Hermione exclaimed in shock.

In fact, a year earlier, Andy and Hermione had discussed the story of Merlin. The two of them also agreed that the history of the wizarding world had been tampered with artificially.

For this reason, the two of them had also looked up a lot of information.

But even the famous modern historian Bathilda Bagshot could not authenticate this history.

"He may not be the first,"

Andy speculated, "Perhaps in more ancient times, others may have also established a wizard kingdom. Perhaps the pictographic runes used in alchemy are the writing of that time."

"But...why didn't the history of magic record this historical record?" Hermione did not deny Andy's speculation, but she preferred to look for tangible evidence.

"That's the point!"

Andy said, "There may be a shocking secret hidden behind this."

Pop!

Andy snapped his fingers, using a silencing charm around the two of them, before continuing, "The Department of Mysteries at the Ministry of Magic has a magical room called the Death Chamber, and in the Death Chamber there is an archway that leads to the dimension of death."

"…That is the realm of the undead."

Hermione: "..."

Hermione looked at Andy and blinked.

She felt that Andy was pulling her leg.

"How do you know?" Hermione asked, full of scepticism.

"I've been there," Andy said.

"How did you get there?" Hermione still didn't believe it.

"I used the Disillusionment Charm," Andy said.

Hermione: "..."

The possibility of Andy having sneakily visited the Ministry of Magic seemed quite plausible in Hermione's mind.

He was never a model wizard!

"You'll end up in Azkaban sooner or later!" Hermione said with clenched teeth.

"The Aurors can't do anything about it," Andy laughed.

"Professor Dumbledore can!" Hermione huffed.

"I knew I had forgotten something!"

Andy slapped his thigh. "I told Professor Dumbledore earlier that I wanted to duel him this academic year. If you hadn't mentioned it, I might have forgotten it."

Hermione: "..."

"You want to duel Professor Dumbledore?" Hermione asked in shock.

"Hermione, how about you be our referee?" Andy invited.

"No!"

Hermione firmly refused, "But... I can consider cheering for Professor Dumbledore."

"You're my girlfriend!" Andy emphasised the point.

"I'm also a student of Professor Dumbledore," Hermione said.

"Forget it... Let's focus on the matter at hand!"

Andy changed the subject: "I suspect that the Ministry of Magic is hiding a lot of secrets, and these secrets are kept in the Department of Mysteries. It's also possible that it was them who altered the history of the wizarding world."

Hermione's brow furrowed slightly. "It's impossible for the Ministry of Magic to alter so much history, right?"

They had looked up the information before.

At least Hogwarts' library had no relevant records.

As for the Ministry of Magic...

There was a Ministry of Magic in every country, and Hermione found it hard to believe that they would all simultaneously alter the history of the wizarding world.

"What if this secret... is enough to destabilise the entire wizarding community?" Andy said.

"We can't get our hands on the secrets of the Ministry of Magic right now."

Hermione was a little disheartened by this and said, "We'll have to investigate this later."

Hermione loved solving mysteries, especially those related to the history of the wizarding world.

However, unlike Andy, who liked to speculate, Hermione preferred to rely on solid evidence.

She would not believe in unsubstantiated analyses.

Andy greatly appreciated this quality in Hermione.

When the two worked together, Andy was responsible for making wild guesses, while Hermione was responsible for finding information to confirm those guesses.

The two therefore worked together very happily (actually, no).

"Remember the Deathly Hallows?"

Andy said, "Death really existed."

Hermione was silent for a moment and said, "Andy... I remember. Wasn't it alchemy that we were discussing?"

Andy: "..."

"This is a starting point for discussion!"

Andy said with his hands spread out, "Alchemy dates back to the ancient magical civilisation and has a history of at least 2,500 years, involving many countries and regions."

"Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, Rome, Ancient China, Ancient India... There are records of alchemy in almost all of Eurasia."

"In those days, it was almost impossible for ordinary people to contact people from other regions, and only wizards could travel across the whole continent."

Andy's words really piqued Hermione's interest.

The young witch loved to uncover the secrets of ancient and mysterious magical civilisations.

The Alchemy civilisation that spanned the whole of Eurasia.

More than 2,500 years ago.

"Maybe we can look into the early origin of alchemy."

Hermione said excitedly. "Hogwarts was founded more than a thousand years ago, so there may be some records of it."

"Of course we can!"

Andy said with a smile. "Maybe we can find some mention of the wizarding kingdom in there."

"You know, in the era of cold weapons, wizards who mastered magic were no different from gods. It was only natural that they would found their own kingdoms."
