Chapter 666 - Chapter 666: The Bloody History of Muggle Enslavement

After dinner, Andy and Hermione strolled around the castle for a while, chatting about the contradictions in the history of magic.

The two most famous events in the history of magic were the mediaeval witch hunt and the two Goblin rebellions. Apart from that, most of the history of magic was about trivial matters.

There were even fewer events related to Muggles.

Of course, Voldemort had a significant place in recent history.

In contrast, the records of Grindelwald are almost written in a vague manner. Many events are glossed over, and Grindelwald's ideology is not even mentioned.

From this, it can be seen that the history of magic is like a beautiful doll that can be dressed up in any way. It is written down on parchment and can be edited and modified at will.

"Let's go!"

It was already getting dark. Andy stretched and yawned, saying, "There won't be many people in the common room now. When it gets busy in the late evening, there'll be no choice but to sneak out in the middle of the night."

"Hm,"

Hermione nodded, then spoke hesitantly, "I just don't know if Miss Grey will tell us the truth."

"I think she's quite a unique character," Andy laughed.

Grey Lady is not particularly level-headed, and as the daughter of a Ravenclaw, she is quite proud and a bit naïve.

If history has really been changed, in Andy's opinion, Grey Lady should be very disdainful of this.

Even if she holds some reservations, as long as she is slightly goaded, Andy feels that there is a high probability that she will speak out.

"What do you mean?" Hermione asked with raised eyebrows.

"Er..."

Andy pondered for a moment before cautiously saying, "I mean, she's a bit silly… Even if she doesn't want to say it, we can coax her into saying it."

"Miss Grey is kind and graceful," Hermione corrected indignantly, glaring at Andy.

"Ah! Right, right, right!" Andy nodded repeatedly.

Hermione: "…"

***

Back in the common room, it was indeed empty.

As resident Ravenclaw ghost, Andy and Hermione easily found Grey Lady.

But she wasn't alone.

"Luna?"

Hermione was a little surprised. "What are you doing here?"

"Andy, Hermione? Good evening!"

Luna's voice sounded a little hazy. "I'm friends with Miss Grey, so I came to keep her company... Are you here to see her too?"

Andy didn't know quite the right words to describe Luna, his younger sister's friend. She was well-known in Ravenclaw as Loony, as she behaved in a rather 'eccentric' and entertaining way all the time.

In a sense, Andy appreciated her mentality of not caring about what others think.

"Hm,"

Hermione nodded. "We have a little problem and would like to ask Lady Grey for some advice."

"What is the problem?" Grey Lady asked.

Luna also looked over with a curious expression, "I can help too."

Hermione looked at Andy hesitantly.

Andy shrugged nonchalantly and asked, "It's not something to be secretive about."

"Is it inconvenient for me to hear?"

After saying that, Luna turned to Grey Lady and said, "I'll come back and see you later then."

"No…"

When she said that, Hermione felt a little embarrassed. "I just don't know how to start... Um, Lady Grey, I've been studying the history of magic recently, and I've noticed something... Well, something's not quite right."

"Many people have noticed that," Grey Lady said, her tone tinged with faint mockery.

This could work!

Hermione's eyes lit up at this. "So... the history of magic really has been altered?"

"Of course! They've hidden a lot of the truth," Grey Lady said.

Andy and Hermione exchanged glances.

It was true!

As a ghost who had lived for a thousand years, Grey Lady must know a lot.

"So what is the real history?"

Hermione asked hurriedly. "Lady Grey, has anyone ever established a kingdom of wizards in the history of the wizarding world?"

Before asking this question, Hermione imagined that the kingdom of wizards was a mysterious, magnificent, magical world of magic.

But the truth was nothing like that!

Grey Lady remained silent for a moment, looking at Hermione, before she spoke after a long silence: "There have been many people with such ideas, and there has never been a shortage of ambitious people in history."

Hermione's brow furrowed slightly.

Having ideas and being ambitious were two completely different things from actually founding a kingdom of wizards.

Grey Lady's words sounded like an explanation, but if you thought about it carefully, you could see that she was obviously avoiding answering the question.

But the more she did, the more Hermione felt that there must be a huge secret hidden within.

"Has anyone succeeded?" Hermione asked.

Grey Lady was silent again.

Luna also looked at her with a curious expression. The question Hermione had asked was one she had never thought of before; seeing this, Grey Lady chose to answer.

"Succeed?"

"Compared to Muggles, the number of wizards is very few, so few that it is not possible to found a country made up of wizards alone."

Grey Lady showed a contemptuous smile. "What do you think they would do?"

Hermione's face turned pale. "Enslave Muggles!"

Andy also showed a 'sure enough' expression.

The nature of the world is one of predation, the strong ruling over the weak.

Even if you dress it up with words like 'civilisation', it still doesn't change the truth of the world.

In the age of cold weapons, it was a fact that wizards were stronger than muggles.

Ordinary wizards might only be able to do some household magic, but powerful wizards could even destroy a city single-handedly.

There have always been strong people in every era.

Ambition and desire are part of human nature.

Under these circumstances, it is not surprising that powerful wizards would want to subordinate muggles.

It seems inevitable that the history of magic will be revised.

Those in power would not let this kind of thing be spread.

"So what happened?"

Hermione's brow furrowed as she impatiently asked, "What happened next? How did they disappear? Why did the wizards choose to hide again?"

"What happened next..."

Grey Lady fell into thought as she said with disdain, "Resistance, war, killing… this world has never lacked people with ambition, nor people who want to be heroes."

"If some people wanted to enslave the muggles, naturally there were also people who wanted to save them."

"War after war..."

"Many witches and wizards came from Muggle families in the wizarding world. As their numbers grew, the conflicts between the two sides grew."

"In the end... the wizards had to choose to hide; otherwise, there would be an inevitable major internal war in the wizarding world that might bring down our numbers even more."

Andy nodded thoughtfully.

Even today, many wizards still want to subordinate muggles, not to mention the feudal era hundreds of years ago?

Just look at the situation of house-elves.

Getting something for free is the ultimate desire of human beings.

Not to mention wizards who have mastered magic?

It is not surprising that they would want to exploit Muggles.

So when the wizards chose to seclude themselves, the Ministry of Magic revised this part of history.

As it is inevitable that wizards will appear among Muggles each year.
