"Master? Who the hell is that?"
"Yu Xiaogang."
"Zhao Wuji, you said Yu Xiaogang is dead?"
"Yeah. Liu Erlong, please accept my condolences. The dead can't be brought back." Zhao Wuji tried to comfort her.
"Condolences? What the hell for? If he's dead, he's dead. What's that got to do with me?"
"Huh?" Zhao Wuji looked at Liu Erlong in shock.
"What's wrong, Teacher Zhao? No need to look so damn surprised. We're spirit masters—dying is just part of the job." Liu Erlong shrugged, completely indifferent.
"But... he was once part of the Golden Iron Triangle, and you two were... you know... and..."
"So what? You said it yourself—it was all in the past. I'm about to become a mother now. In life, we need to move forward." Liu Erlong looked calm, even a little proud.
Because of the world's prejudices, Yu Xiaogang avoided Liu Erlong for twenty years.
Twenty years.
Twenty years.
Twenty years.
That's twenty goddamn years.
How many twenty years does a person even get in their lifetime? And for a woman, those were her prime years—her best years.
Liu Erlong had stayed single for two decades because of Yu Xiaogang. She even cut ties with her own father, Yu Luomian, for him. And yet, that bastard never gave a damn.
Now that she looked back on it, the past felt disgusting, like swallowing a mouthful of shit. It was unbearable.
Just like Bibi Dong, whatever love Liu Erlong once had for Yu Xiaogang had long turned to hatred. After the system transferred her feelings to Ye Feng, there wasn't a shred of affection left for that man. If it weren't for their blood ties, she, as the Killing Horn, would have sliced Yu Xiaogang into pieces long ago. How the hell would he have survived until now?
Now that Yu Xiaogang was finally dead, Liu Erlong wanted to set off fireworks to celebrate.
"Who was the hero that killed him?" Liu Erlong asked with a smirk. She wasn't sad at all—in fact, she wanted to thank the person who did it.
"Uh..."
Zhao Wuji hesitated at her reaction but still answered, "We don't know. Someone killed Yu Xiaogang in his room. They say he was poisoned."
"Poisoned? Could it be Dugu Bo?" Liu Erlong guessed.
"Dugu Bo has no reason to kill him. And besides, his granddaughter Yanyan already broke up with Yu Tianheng. If he wanted revenge, he'd kill Yu Tianheng, not Yu Xiaogang," Zhao Wuji analyzed.
"Yeah, that makes sense." Liu Erlong nodded.
"Any other details about Yu Xiaogang's death?" Ye Feng asked, intrigued.
"Yeah, there was a letter. In it, Yu Xiaogang said he didn't want Tang San to avenge him. He told him to focus on the competition instead. He didn't say a word about who the killer was." Zhao Wuji answered truthfully.
"The fact that Yu Xiaogang didn't say a damn thing means the murderer has serious backing. Not many people on the continent would dare kill the son of Yu Yuanzhen, the leader of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan." Ye Feng fell into deep thought. A suspect came to mind.
"Ye Feng, do you know who did it?" Liu Erlong asked, curious.
Ye Feng glanced at her but didn't answer.
In the original storyline, Yu Xiaogang lived just fine. But now, he was dead. That meant the plot had shifted.
Why?
One face popped into Ye Feng's mind—Bibi Dong.
The only person with the guts to kill Yu Xiaogang, the desire to do so, and the ability to ignore the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan's backlash was probably Bibi Dong.
Of course, this was just his theory. Only an autopsy could confirm the truth.
"Ye Feng, Liu Erlong, I heard that people from the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan arrived in Tiandou City. They're taking Yu Xiaogang's body back to the clan. Should we go burn some incense for him tomorrow?" Zhao Wuji asked.
"Burn incense? What for?" Liu Erlong's face turned cold.
"We knew each other for a long time. Now that he's dead, we should at least pay our respects, right?"
"He betrayed Shrek Academy. He betrayed us." Liu Erlong snapped. Just thinking about Yu Xiaogang pissed her off. She looked at Ye Feng and asked, "Ye Feng, we're not going, right?"
Before Ye Feng could answer, a voice interrupted.
"He's right. The dead should be respected. Erlong, you should go and burn some incense for him."
Ye Feng, Liu Erlong, and Zhao Wuji turned towards the voice.
A middle-aged man in luxurious robes, followed by four people, walked toward them.
The man had a commanding presence, exuding wealth and nobility. He looked to be in his fifties or sixties, and a golden dragon was embroidered on his chest.
A dragon?
Ye Feng and Zhao Wuji narrowed their eyes. The embroidery meant he was from the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan. The golden dragon symbolized a high-ranking status within the clan.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Liu Erlong frowned.
"Shouldn't I be here?" The man looked at Ye Feng and smirked. "Even an ugly daughter-in-law has to meet her in-laws someday. The same goes for a son-in-law."
"You forget—I already cut ties with you." Liu Erlong stood in front of Ye Feng, glaring at the man with hostility.
Yu Luomian.
Ye Feng recognized him instantly. This was Liu Erlong's father, the second patriarch of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan.
"I never agreed to that." Yu Luomian said calmly.
"You trying to break us up again?" Liu Erlong's tone was sharp.
"Erlong, what nonsense are you saying? He's the direct disciple of Chen Xin, has twin spirits, and is the youngest Spirit King in history. Why the hell would I break you two up?"
"So... you approve of him?" Liu Erlong was momentarily stunned.
"Of course. You finally picked someone worth a damn. Much better than last time." Yu Luomian smirked. "I didn't want you wasting your life on some loser. As long as you find someone worthy of you, I won't object."
He reached out and gently patted Liu Erlong's shoulder.
Liu Erlong instinctively wanted to dodge, but after hesitating, she let him pat her a few times.
"Hello, Uncle." Ye Feng greeted.
"Mm. Not bad." Yu Luomian looked Ye Feng up and down, clearly impressed. Turning back to Liu Erlong, he said, "Erlong, this time, you need to come back with me to the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan."
"Why should I?" Liu Erlong scoffed.
"To return to your roots," Yu Luomian said, smiling.
"My roots?" Liu Erlong sneered. "Since when did those old bastards suddenly decide I was worthy of returning? Weren't they the same ones who called my mother a whore and said I was a disgrace to the clan?"
"Erlong, watch your temper. This is a good thing for you. Your mother's dying wish was for you to return to your roots," Yu Luomian said before glancing at Ye Feng. "And you should thank Ye Feng for this. If not for him, those old men would never have agreed to take you back. Having a son-in-law with twin spirits changes things."
