Ye Feng knew the mystery of the Sea God's Light—it could reflect both physical and energy-based attacks.
If someone attempted to forcefully charge into the Sea God's Light, they would be repelled by Sea God's Crown. This rebound wasn't due to mere reflection, nor did it follow the laws of refraction. Instead, it was a complete and precise rebound, returning the original force directly to the attacker.
The only way to ascend through the Sea God's Light was to relinquish all hostility and allow it to sense that one harbored no "intent to harm." Only then could one safely traverse it.
Of course, the terror of the Sea God's Light didn't stop there.
The higher one climbed, the greater the pressure within the Sea God's Light became.
"Boss Ye!"
Jiang Zhu was stunned, looking in disbelief at a man passing by him. It was none other than Ye Feng, who had disappeared for almost an entire year.
"Boss Ye!"
"Boss Ye!"
"Boss Ye!"
Calls like these echoed up and down the staircase of the Sea God's Light.
Every time Ye Feng passed someone, they would call out to him.
"Ye Feng!"
Qian Renxue opened her eyes, and the first person she saw was Ye Feng approaching steadily.
"Miss, why is he here?" Hu Liena asked curiously.
Ye Feng climbed step after step, his rhythm unbroken, like a marathoner. He steadily closed the distance.
Qian Renxue shook her head.
"Xiaoxue, Nana, and Huo Wu—my wife. Hello." Ye Feng smiled and greeted Qian Renxue, Hu Liena, and Huo Wu.
Qian Renxue and Hu Liena both flushed slightly. Even though Ye Feng was only greeting Huo Wu as his wife, the way he said it made the two of them feel... something was off.
"Senior Brother, you're being unfair," Ning Rongrong said, pouting with dissatisfaction.
Ye Feng had greeted Qian Renxue, Hu Liena, and Huo Wu, but completely left her out.
Ye Feng walked up to her, raised his hand, and patted her head gently, "Rongrong, I haven't seen you for a year—you've gotten a little plumper."
"Huh?"
Ning Rongrong was stunned. She lowered her head and looked down, her face turning red. Then she proudly said, "That's more like it."
"Xiaoxue, it's been a year. Are you planning to call me 'Dad' yet?" Ye Feng teased.
Ye Feng and Bibi Dong were in an affair.
By seniority, Qian Renxue—being Bibi Dong's biological daughter—should technically call Ye Feng "Dad."
"In your dreams." Qian Renxue glared coldly at him.
"Haha, no rush. Take your time. Alright, you all do your thing, I'll keep climbing."
With that, Ye Feng passed by the four beauties and continued upward without stopping.
Hu Liena watched his rhythmic, confident steps. They were standing on the 136th step. Her eyes widened as she exclaimed, "After not seeing him for a year, he's grown even stronger."
Thanks to Hu Liena's reminder, Qian Renxue finally noticed Ye Feng's cultivation level had changed.
The 136th step wasn't hard for Qian Renxue, but Ye Feng's ease made it look like child's play.
What did this mean?
It meant the gap between Qian Renxue's cultivation and Ye Feng's was widening further.
"Mn."
Qian Renxue clenched her fists, determination flickering in her eyes.
This past year of training hadn't been wasted.
She had already broken through to Spirit Douluo and was now past level 80. She had also obtained a divinely bestowed spirit ring—a 100,000-year one at that.
"Let's begin crossing the sea within the sea," Qian Renxue said, turning to Hu Liena.
Their second trial was to break through the Ring Sea's blockade.
Hu Liena nodded, no longer looking at Ye Feng, and followed Qian Renxue down the mountain.
As for Ye Feng, he continued his steady ascent.
Three hundred and twenty-seven.
Three hundred and twenty-eight.
Three hundred and twenty-nine.
"Huu~ Three hundred and thirty."
Shui Bing'er was gasping for breath. Her clothes were drenched in sweat, clinging to her skin. She had already gotten used to it.
Over the past year, Shui Bing'er had trained to the point of exhaustion nearly every day.
"Just three more steps!"
She looked ahead seriously at the last three steps in front of her.
The first test of Sea God required crossing the Sea God's Light three times and ascending a total of 333 steps.
Sea God's Light on the mountain was divided by a base of 111 steps. Each multiple increased the pressure exponentially. The first 111 steps were single-pressure Sea God's Light. Steps 112 to 222 were double-pressure. Steps 223 to 333 were triple-pressure. And it would only continue from there.
Moreover, even between steps within a tier—like the 109th versus the 110th—the pressure increased subtly with each one.
"Future wife!"
A sudden voice echoed in Shui Bing'er's ears.
She shook her head, laughing bitterly to herself.
"A hallucination? We've been separated for a year, and now I'm hearing his voice?"
She mocked herself quietly.
For the past year, whenever Shui Bing'er felt she couldn't go on, she would remember Ye Feng's face.
Ye Feng was the same age as her, yet his cultivation was far beyond hers.
That image of him had become her drive—the very reason she pushed herself so hard. She wanted to catch up. She wanted to surpass him.
As soon as she finished her thoughts, the voice rang out again.
"Why are you denying what you heard, my dear future wife?"
"Huh?!"
Shui Bing'er froze.
She turned around slowly and nearly fell back onto the steps when she saw a face so close to hers.
"Am I that scary?" Ye Feng smiled.
"Ye… Ye Feng, it's really you?" Shui Bing'er sat on the steps, staring up at him in a daze.
"Of course," Ye Feng nodded.
"Why are you here?" she asked curiously.
"To conquer the Sea God's Light," he replied.
"But you didn't receive the Nine Trials of Sea God, so you don't need to climb this far," Shui Bing'er said with doubt.
"I know. It's just a little goal I set for myself." Ye Feng smiled, then looked at Shui Bing'er and shifted the subject. "Let's not talk about the Sea God's Light. Let's talk about you."
"Me?" Shui Bing'er blinked.
"Yeah. I haven't seen you for a year, and you've grown more beautiful." Ye Feng praised.
"Thanks," she blushed, a shy smile playing at her lips.
"Your hair's gotten bluer. Very pretty."
"Thanks."
"Your eyes are brighter."
"Thanks."
"You've… filled out a bit more too."
"Filled… out?"
Shui Bing'er's eyes widened. She looked down at her chest.
Because her clothes were soaked with sweat, there was hardly any difference between wearing them and not. Her curves were fully visible. Her nipples was clearly seen.
