Paige stepped into the room, smoothing her blouse as if she had done nothing wrong.
"Hello," she greeted them with an over-brightened smile, "I was just here to get some extra paper for my printer," she explained herself, trying too hard to sound casual.
Aniya could see faint creases on Mrs. Eileen's forehead, but she stayed silent.
Aniya's stomach twisted. Like Mrs. Eileen, she was sure that Paige had heard every word of their discussion
Mrs. Eileen held Paige's gaze for a moment longer as if assessing her soul before nodding, "Well. You better be quick, Ms. Fletcher."
Paige bobbed her head and raised her hands that were holding a stack of papers, "It's already here," she said breezily.
The moment Paige was gone, Aniya released a breath she didn't realize she was holding. Mrs. Eileen shook her head before turning her attention back to Aniya.
