Chapter 3: The after party of a crazy wedding

I was seated on my lavender throne on the high platform which was meant for my royal family in the palace's ballroom, lost in a word of thoughts. I wore a midnight blue dress that accented my semi-curvy figure perfectly.

My hair was styled but poured down in a waves with my pendant and sapphire earrings to compliment.

"Sis, that's our cue ." Luke tapped on my shoulder jolting me out of my reverie. "Huh?" I asked lost. I glanced around and blushed seeing all eyes on me. I guess I was so lost in thought that I forgot about the opening dance. The 'opening dance' is a part of my kingdom's royal traditions. It is the last dance a princess supposed to have with her father before he completely hands her off to her husband to live under his care.

I stood up and placed my hand into Luke's which was extended out for me. Hand in hand, he led me down the long stairs to the center of the dance floor where my dad stood happily waiting for me.

If I didn't know any better, I would have thought he was truly happy; that this was the moment he'd be dreaming of as a father but it was all fake- he couldn't care any less, he'd never smile at me that way and if there was really any tinge of pure happiness in him, it'd be the joy of seeing me about to leave. Luke stopped and let go of my hand at the bottom of the stairs.

I tried my best to put on a convincing smile as I graciously walked toward my father who now had his right hand extended for me but deep down, hidden behind my fake smile was worry, sadness and most of all, rage.

If there was anyway I could skip this whole father-daughter dance, I would gladly take the chance. Standing only a few steps away, I hesitantly began to put out my hand when the door suddenly burst open with a loud bang. As all eyes quickly diverted from us to the source of the sound, I quickly retracted my hand which was only a few inches from the king's before turning around look for my saviour. I gasped.

There he was; dressed in a white long sleeve button up shirt, a black waistcoat, black trousers and regal black shoes was Damien walking towards me. He had his sleeves were rolled up, exposing his muscles and large triceps, his top three buttons were left unbuttoned showing his muscular chest which made me wonder how he'd look without his shirt on.

His effortlessly perfect long raven hair blew with the breeze he brought in and and his beautiful black eyes shimmered as it reflected the moonlight. He walked so charmingly that my heart broke into a race and I was a hundred percent sure I wasn't the only one captivated by his - his somewhat unearthly beauty.

No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't look away from him and I was pretty sure he noticed when he smiled and winked at me. My heart broke into a frenzy. I blushed feeling embarrassed and quickly looked away but I could feel his stare which made me more flustered.

Finally, after what seemed like the longest two minutes of my life, he stood in front of me. "Care to share this dance Milady?"

Unable to muster a word I just nodded and gave him my hand. The music started and we began to dance swaying to the rhythm. I heard my dad angrily mutter some words under his breath before storming off and I giggled softly. "Now there's a real smile." I returned my gaze to him feeling very confused.

"You're not quite good at faking your smiles, I can tell." He said flashing me a heart warming smile. I lightly chuckled, "I guess I'm not the only one who has to fake a smile once in a while". "I suppose, it's part of the job." He said as he twirled me around.

I began to wonder, if Damien noticed my smile was fake, what if everyone else did - that'd be terribly bad. I suddenly felt panicky. "Don't worry. I'm pretty sure they have no idea." He added probably noticing my distressed face.

"Thanks for saving me from that akward situation, I really did not want to dance with the king and also thank you for standing up for me during the wedding ceremony... not mang people have done that for me." I said ever so gratefully. "Your welcome, afterall it is my duty to protect you as your husband." I cringed feeling uneasy after hearing "your husband".

It was definitely something that'd take a long time getting used to (but thank goodness he didn't notice me when I did.) "Is she always like that? Your sister I mean?" He asked. I sighed and began giving him a brief explanation of the things my sisters, specifically Angelique have done to me and why she treats me that way.

He just listened quietly without interrupting, nodding a few times in response to me.

Luke watched as they danced and a smile crept up on his face seeing his sister happy and smiling. Shortly after his father came to join him. "Looks like you made a good decision afterall." Luke said.

"I believe so, I haven't seen your sister smile like this in a very long time. I just hope that she's as happy for herself as we are for her." "Relax father, didn't you just say how happy she looks and based on what you told me about Prince Damien, he truly loves her and I know he'll treat her well."

"Looks can be very deceiving my son and I don't trust that man, he's too rebellious and proud not to mention the amount of blood he has on his hands." "Geez dad if you don't like him then why did you agree to his request?!" Luke grumbled sarcastically and left.
