Chapter 386 - Chapter 386

New York Temple

"Thor!"

Seeing the familiar figure step through the mystical portal, Lockhart's voice carried a mix of surprise and confusion. "Why are you here at the New York Temple?"

Kaecilius, standing nearby, offered a curt nod. "Welcome, Mr. Thor," he said, though his tone betrayed a hint of dissatisfaction, his sharp gaze flickering briefly over the Asgardian prince.

Before either of them could inquire further, a subtle flick of Lockhart's hand summoned a message spell. Turning to Kaecilius, he murmured in explanation, "Kamar-Taj reached out to Asgard because of Loki's... unique status."

Kaecilius' frown deepened slightly, but he didn't argue. The alliance forged long ago between Kamar-Taj and Asgard meant diplomatic protocols couldn't be ignored, no matter how troublesome Loki's actions might have been.

Thor's sheepish smile was impossible to miss as he stepped forward, his towering frame casting long shadows across the ancient hall. "I'm very sorry for Loki's actions," he began, his voice sincere, though tinged with the weight of familial duty. "I've come to apologize on behalf of Asgard to Kamar-Taj."

Kaecilius' scowl only deepened at the apology. The invasion of Kamar-Taj and the New York Temple had caused considerable chaos, and an apology, while necessary, hardly seemed enough.

Sensing the growing tension, Thor quickly added, "Rest assured, Asgard will do everything in its power to make amends for the damages Loki has caused."

Kaecilius' expression softened slightly but remained guarded. "We'll discuss compensation later," he said curtly. "For now, our priority is capturing Loki. Does Asgard have any leads on his whereabouts?"

Thor hesitated, his gaze shifting to the spatial vortexes scattered across the temple, each glowing with ominous blue light. The faint groans of unconscious civilians, victims of Loki's machinations, echoed faintly in the background.

After a moment's pause, Thor sighed. "Unfortunately, Loki has managed to shield his location. Asgard's resources haven't been able to pinpoint him yet."

Kaecilius crossed his arms, his frustration evident. "Then what use is Asgard's help if you can't even locate your own prince?" he snapped.

Before the situation could escalate, Lockhart stepped between them. "Kaecilius," he said calmly, "Thor is an ally. I've worked with him before, and I trust his capabilities." His voice softened slightly. "Right now, while capturing Loki is crucial, the bigger threat is Mephisto. We need to work together to solve this."

Kaecilius grudgingly nodded, and Thor shot Lockhart a grateful look. The chaos Loki had unleashed weighed heavily on the thunder god, and the tension in the room eased slightly with Lockhart's intervention.

At that moment, Lockhart's expression shifted as he received a message through his magical brand. "Thor, Kaecilius," he said sharply, "we need to head to S.H.I.E.L.D. now. Something's happening there."

S.H.I.E.L.D., Project Insight Base

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The lake's surface parted, revealing a trio of vast underground bases. As sunlight bathed the structures, three enormous helicarriers slowly emerged, gleaming with cutting-edge technology.

Standing before a wall of reinforced glass, Nick Fury surveyed the scene with a mix of pride and urgency. The helicarriers, equipped with advanced weaponry and cloaking capabilities, represented the pinnacle of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s technological achievements.

Bringing his walkie-talkie to his mouth, Fury's tone was all business. "Hill, what's the ETA on full operational status?"

"Director," came Hill's crisp reply, "we're on track to launch in 20 minutes."

"Make it 10," Fury ordered. "We don't have a second to spare. The space vortexes are pulling in civilians faster than we can handle."

There was a brief pause before Hill's voice returned, determined. "Understood, sir. We'll accelerate the timeline."

"Good. The Insight Project is our best shot at mitigating this mess," Fury muttered, setting the walkie-talkie down as he returned his gaze to the helicarriers.

Originally designed to monitor and neutralize potential threats among enhanced individuals, the Insight Project had been repurposed in response to the current crisis. With blue space vortexes appearing all over New York, the project's algorithms would now focus on containing the spread of chaos, neutralizing civilians drawn into Loki's schemes without lethal force.

The helicarriers' anti-gravity engines roared to life, and the massive vessels began to rise. But just as the first craft cleared the ground, a massive blue vortex erupted on the base's surface.

From the portal emerged three men clad in black robes, their sinister aura unmistakable. Alongside them were ten former S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, now puppets under dark control, each clutching a glowing, pale-golden crystal ball.

"Enemy attack! Enemy attack!"

S.H.I.E.L.D. agents sprang into action, gunfire erupting in a desperate attempt to repel the invaders. But the robed figures raised their hands, unleashing waves of black mist that consumed the bullets mid-air, leaving them unharmed.

The puppet agents stepped forward, their eyes glazed and skin marked with dark veins. Slashing their palms, they pressed their bloody hands against the crystal balls, which began to glow ominously. Blood-red ripples emanated from the artifacts, spreading through the base and ensnaring nearby agents in their sinister influence.

One by one, agents succumbed, their eyes filling with a crimson haze as they turned on their comrades. A few, further from the ripples, managed to resist, their faces contorted with effort as they fought the pull of dark magic.

Despite the chaos, the unaffected agents didn't hesitate. Rocket launchers were deployed, fiery projectiles streaking toward the invaders. But the robed figures conjured barriers of black energy, detonating the rockets mid-air and absorbing the fiery explosions. With a flick of their hands, the gathered flames were transformed into molten fireballs, which they hurled back at the S.H.I.E.L.D. forces.

Just as the blazing projectiles threatened to rain destruction upon the base, a golden barrier flared into existence, shielding the agents. Three figures stepped onto the helicarrier's surface, their arrival marked by an aura of crackling energy.
