Lin Shen quickly shut the door and stepped back, fearing he might disturb the virtual shadow within the flames.
The four of them inspected every mud-walled house one by one, finding the same situation inside each. Every mud-walled house contained a clay basin, and within the basins, campfires burned brightly.
Some campfires had already transformed into virtual shadows, while others remained mere flames, not yet capable of gestating a virtual shadow.
The virtual shadows varied; some were in embryonic states, while others had developed into more distinct forms. The most terrifying of them were nearly solidified into physical entities.
One shadow was a divine figure with a human torso and a serpent's tail. Lin Shen couldn't discern her origin. Formed entirely of flickering red flames, her shimmering light seemed to have taken on a tangible body.
"The flame colors and aura in each fire basin seem somewhat different." After stepping out, Lin Shen muttered thoughtfully.
