As the two spoke, Lin Shen scanned the surroundings and couldn't help but pause in surprise.
He saw that everyone else at their table, including Die Fast and Die Early, were leaning over the table, their faces nearly touching the dishes, hovering so close they were almost stuck to the plates.
Their mouths remained shut as their faces moved above the plates, their noses continuously sniffing back and forth. Then, they straightened up with expressions of rapture, as if they had just savored the finest delicacies and wines.
Lin Shen turned to look at the other tables. Everyone there was doing the same—leaning over to sniff—but none of them touched their chopsticks or actually ate the dishes on the table or drank the wine in their cups.
The sight unsettled Lin Shen a little. Even though he knew there were no ghosts in this world, only an array of strange creatures, the scene still gave him an eerie feeling.
