In a small town in Europe, two residents were walking back to town after buying bread when they saw a fire truck whizzing past. The wife couldn't help but ask,
"This is the third time we've seen a fire truck today, isn't it?"
"Maybe it's because of the dry winter weather." The husband, still thinking about the football match that was about to start on television, absentmindedly replied, "Some wooden houses just catch fire easily."
"Dear," the wife said patiently, "fire safety is no joke. Have you forgotten last month when you left the gas stove on and then forgot about it?"
"That was a special circumstance, a special circumstance..." the husband muttered.
As they passed a small chapel where loud hymns were resonating inside, the wife was momentarily spellbound, thinking of her days as a young girl when she was often taken to church by her mother for Mass and Communion. But since marrying this man, who was not very devout, it seemed she hadn't been to church in a long time.
