Ling Xi returned upstairs and saw Leng Minghui and Zhang Ze talking cheerfully, the usually stern corners of his eyes now sprinkled with a faint smile.
"Captain Leng, you're back," Zhang Ze, brimming with a smile, greeted her first thing. "We were just talking about you."
"What about me?" Ling Xi asked Leng Minghui, lips faintly curving in a detached amusement.
"Nothing much," Leng Minghui said. "Just reminiscing about some interesting stories of your childhood, including one time you almost lost your life." He hadn't expected Zhang Ze to take such an interest in Xixi's childhood.
To tell the truth, Leng Minghui still harbored doubts about the drowning incident from Ling Xi's childhood to this very day.
"Oh," Ling Xi replied indifferently, seemingly not very concerned.
