Archie stared at her, his mind racing. She was serious. Or at least, as serious as someone still fighting off the effects of a sedative could be.
She continued, her words slightly slurred but determined. "It'll be legal in every way. You'll add me to your corporation. I will add you to mine. We'll share everything equally... just like any other married couple out there."
The words almost made him burst out in laughter, and he would have if only the image forming in his mind because of them would leave.
The image that wasn't in any way funny.

Avery in a wedding gown, walking down an aisle towards him and looking extraordinarily angelic.
Avery's face being the first thing he saw every morning, and the last he saw every night.
