Red's POV
I had every reason to postpone the opening of my law office after what happened with Destiny. Truthfully, I wanted nothing more than to shut myself away and wallow in the ache of her absence. But responsibilities don't wait for heartbreak to pass, and I knew I had to get a grip. There was work to be done—and if nothing else, I had to do the right thing.
Still, my thoughts kept circling back to her.
I had spent days trying to talk to Destiny, only to be met with silence. Not a single returned message, not even a glance in my direction. I tried catching her outside, waiting for that one chance to make things right, but she was always a step ahead of me, always gone before I could explain.
