"Thank you." it broke his heart when the voice came so detached. All the emotions she was going through were there, yet he was not part of them anymore.
Her lowered head where he could not see her eyes anymore felt like they were in two different worlds. She had built a wall around herself where she was not trusted anymore. A pang of guilt filled him and he tried to hold her. He had expected a struggle. But surprisingly, she let him.
She raised her head and smiled at him. But with those teary eyes, he did not want to see her smile. He wanted her to trust him and lean on him when needed.
"Nora, I trust you." The words felt urgent and she raised her head to meet his eyes. She smiled softly and shook her head.
"You do not need to force yourself or lie. I know my story did not make any sense." she watched their entwined hands with marvel as if she was watching them for the first time.
