Chapter 134 - Child

Careless people, no matter what they did, were rough at heart. Zhi Ying was born like this. Not to mention that someone has been protecting her since high school, she didn't even have to worry about food, clothing, housing and transportation at all. She just needed to be happy and do what she liked.

Therefore, when she was pregnant, she still didn't have the slightest awareness of being a mother-to-be. She clocked in on time at the institute every day and devoted herself to her own matters.

At five months, Zhi Ying's belly still didn't show much. Her fair belly swelled up a little, with an almost imperceptible protuberance.

Jiang Wei was very nervous. Even though the doctor said that the baby in her womb was normal and the mother was in good health, he would always put his hand on Zhi Ying's stomach every night, hugging her. His eyes flashed with worry.

Zhi Ying was still the same as usual at that time. At the most, she would eat an extra bowl of rice, with an extra small bowl of soup. Up until the sixth month, she always felt unwell and couldn't rest well during the lunch break.

One night Zhi Ying turned over and got up. She sat there for a while, then went to the living room to get a glass of water to drink, still feeling uncomfortable.

Jiang Wei worked at home during this period, and stayed with Zhi Ying all day. He woke up within five minutes of her getting up. Following the light, Jiang Wei saw Zhi Ying sitting on the sofa in a daze.

"Zhi Zhi?" Jiang Wei put his arms around his dazed wife, "What's the matter, are you uncomfortable?"

Zhi Ying especially likes to nestle in Jiang Wei's arms recently, she always felt warm and comfortable. She knew the way and walked straight into Jiang Wei's arms.

Suddenly, there was a gurgling sound in the empty living room.

Jiang Wei lowered his head and rubbed Zhi Ying's abdomen. "Are you hungry?" He asked tentatively in a soft, low voice.

Zhi Ying had already eaten dinner that night, so when she couldn't sleep because of the discomfort just now, she didn't think about being hungry. Now that Jiang Wei mentioned this, she really did feel very hungry.

"It's not me, but the baby is hungry," she replied, firmly refusing to admit that she wanted to eat supper again.

Jiang Wei smiled softly, as if he couldn't see through her pretense. "Zhi Zhi, wait for me here for a while, okay? I'm going to cook something."

Seeing Zhi Ying nod her head, Jiang Wei got up and left.

On the first day that Jiang Wei learned of Zhi Ying's pregnancy, the refrigerator was stocked full of food.

Jiang Wei even bought another refrigerator to store fresh vegetables, meat and fruits in case Zhi Ying wanted to eat them, but it didn't come in handy for the first five months.

After that night, Zhi Ying, being slow, finally seemed to react to her pregnancy, and her appetite increased greatly.

Jiang Wei began to worry that Zhi Ying would have morning sickness. After all, sometimes Zhi Ying's condition could not be inferred completely by routine. After asking his mother Jiang Lan for advice, Jiang Wei also specifically asked Lin Xiuyu for advice. Knowing the general idea, he was still worried, so he took some time every day to let a special teacher teach him.

It was a pity that this was all for naught though. Zhi Ying was full every day. Although she got hungry quickly, she was easy to feed, could eat anything, was not picky, and has never had morning sickness.

By the eighth month, Zhi Ying's belly was clearly visible, but it was still a bit smaller than normal pregnant women's stomachs.

"Both the mother and the child are in good health. The child is probably a little smaller, but the nutrition has been adequately guaranteed." After the doctor repeated these similar words several times, Jiang Wei was relieved.

Zhi Ying didn't go to the research institute anymore, and was accompanied by Jiang Wei all day long.

At this time in early October, the weather was just right. Zhi Ying drank a bowl of sour plum soup that was boiled by Jiang Wei, and laid on the couch in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows. She squinted her eyes, deciding whether to sleep or not.

Jiang Wei packed up his things and walked over. He squatted beside Zhi Ying, and laid his head down with her.

"What about today's story?" Zhi Ying asked in a daze.

Prenatal education encouraged reading books and listening to music to the child in the womb of the mother-to-be. Jiang Wei would read a fairy tale to the baby in her stomach during his lunch break.

They said it was for the baby to listen, but Zhi Ying also wanted to listen. It was not that Lin Xiuyu didn't read to her when she was a child, but at that time Zhi Ying was so focused on trying to read mathematics secretly that she couldn't listen properly to it at all. Now that Jiang Wei was reading these stories to her, she found it very fresh. She didn't even know of these stories.

Jiang Wei's voice was originally magnetic and deep, and there was a special feeling in reading these books.

On one hand, Zhi Ying liked Jiang Wei's voice, but on the other hand, she expressed doubts towards those fairy tales. The logic in them couldn't stand the scrutiny at all.

"Mhm, there is something wrong with this person." Jiang Wei gently closed the book, still echoing Zhi Ying's words. He gently covered her with a thin blanket, his eyes full of softness.

Seeing the person sleeping soundly, Jiang Wei leaned against the side of the couch, lowered his head and kissed Zhi Ying lightly.

Zhi Ying had always been thin. Even though her belly was showing, her face was still not much different from before. Jiang Wei looked distressed, with a baby in her belly, how could it be such a simple matter? Zhi Zhi was so thin, and the baby had to share a lot of nutrition.

"Be good." Jiang Wei whispered to Zhi Ying's stomach.

Maybe it was Jiang Wei's words that made a difference today, the baby was born obediently and well-behaved.

The baby was a boy. The two families agreed together and finally named the baby Jiang Fujin. It could be somewhat associated with the term 附近(Fùjìn) which means nearby.

The baby was nicknamed Tuanzi, which means little dumpling.

Tuanzi loved to laugh, and he couldn't stop giggling when he saw people. People from the Fu family and the Zhi family all doted on him.

Tuanzi has inherited his mother's snow-white skin. His hair was still a little light, with soft curls on his head, his eyes were round, he looked extremely adorable. The whole person was glutinous and soft, which was why he got the nickname of Tuanzi.

The person that Tuanzi loved the most was his mother, but it was a pity that Zhi Ying didn't know how to take care of children. Every time the two got together, they either sat side by side on the sofa or sat face to face.

Little Tuanzi's body was not as high as the sofa, and he sat on it with his little feet dangling. He loved to hook his hands with his mother's fingers. Even if his mother doesn't talk or coax him, little Tuanzi could watch his mother happily all day by himself.

Sometimes Zhi Ying would not watch TV, but would lower her head to look after little Tuanzi from time to time. Whenever this happened, little Tuanzi would be very sensitive and find out. Then he would giggle and crawl onto Zhi Ying.

"Your father hasn't come back yet, I don't know how to make milk powder." Zhi Ying said dryly to the little glutinous rice dumpling in her arms. She added aggrievedly after a moment, "I'm hungry too."

Since weaning, Jiang Wei had been in charge of the milk powder feeding. She couldn't get it right. She didn't know the temperature and how many spoons of milk powder to put in.

Although little Tuanzi was hungry, his goal wasn't to eat. Finally being hugged by his mother, he stretched out his short white arms to wrap around Zhi Ying's neck. He rubbed his tender face against her neck, and then stopped moving.

Zhi Ying hugged little Tuanzi who smelled of milk in her arms, her hands and feet were stiff, but finally she relaxed slowly. She also imitated Jiang Wei's previous movements and patted little Tuanzi's back lightly.

Little Tuanzi yawned loudly, his little chubby hands rubbed his eyes, and immediately wiped away big tears. Then he obediently fell asleep on Zhi Ying's shoulder.

Zhi Ying treated herself roughly, and she didn't dare to move with the child on her shoulder. So until little Tuanzi was three years old, she didn't dare to touch her son much. Every time Jiang Wei brought little Tuanzi, she would sit to the side and watch eagerly.
