Chapter 14 - Constructing Biowomb: I

The puppet master had undergone a profound metamorphosis, merging disparate insect and worm parts to forge a formidable new form. His body now resembled a large, amorphous ball of flesh, from which protruded eighteen tentacles of varying lengths and thicknesses. The original three tentacles remained sleek and beautiful, with a snowy white hue that seemed almost otherworldly in the dim light of his lair.

In contrast, the four earthworm tentacles were paler and more bulbous, their soft, segmented bodies flexing as they waved gently in the air. The four black hammerhead worm tentacles seemed almost menacing with their dark coloration, their distinctive hammer-shaped heads giving them a sinister appearance. The three slim horsehair worm tentacles appeared almost ethereal, their delicate, hair-like bodies quivering with each movement. The four leech tentacles had a soft, distended look, their bodies capable of stretching and contracting with a disturbing flexibility.

However, it was the modifications to the tentacle tips that truly set this form apart. Ten of the tentacles had been altered to terminate in sharp, deadly forms, each designed for a specific purpose. Two tentacles sported complete sets of large ant pincers, capable of crushing and tearing with ease. The pincers were a deep, burnished brown, and seemed almost to glow with a malevolent intelligence. Another two tentacles were equipped with two pairs of medium-sized pincers each, allowing for versatile manipulation and grasping. These pincers were more agile, and seemed to be designed for precision work.

Two more tentacles had single pairs of small ant pincers, ideal for delicate tasks or precision work. These pincers were tiny, but seemed incredibly sharp, and the puppet master could use them to manipulate even the smallest objects with ease. The remaining four sharp-tipped tentacles were each armed with distinct and deadly features. Two had been merged with the venomous stingers of large wasps and hornets, capable of delivering painful and lethal blows. The stingers seemed to quiver with anticipation, and the puppet master could feel the potent venom coursing through them.

The other two tentacles had been augmented with the sharp, sword-like horns of horned beetles, perfect for piercing or slashing. These horns were a deep, glossy black, and seemed almost indestructible. Yet the puppet master's modifications didn't stop at armaments. Four of his tentacles had been covered in armor plating, crafted from the shells of beetles and other resilient creatures. Although these armored tentacles had a few cracks and openings, they provided a formidable layer of protection against potential threats.

The armor plating seemed almost seamless, and the puppet master could feel the strength and resilience it added to his form. With his new body, he would likely be a force to be reckoned with in any environment. The puppet master's thoughts turned to the possibilities, and he flexed his new form, feeling the power and flexibility coursing through him. The world seemed full of possibilities, and the puppet master was eager to explore them.

The puppet master had deliberately left four of his tentacles unmodified, one from each of the white, earthworm, leech, and hammerhead groups. These untouched tentacles stood in contrast to the heavily altered ones, showcasing the diversity of his new form.

With his array of parasitic tentacles, he began to drain the life force from the remaining worms. Simultaneously, the leech tentacles were used to extract moisture from the worms, a necessary step to sustain the moisture-dependent parts of his new form.

The puppet master had foreseen this need and had incorporated a water storage system within his body, utilizing leech biology to create a large organ that could store and distribute water throughout his form. This water sack would be crucial in maintaining the balance of moisture required for his new body parts to function optimally.

As he absorbed the life force and moisture from the worms, the puppet master's form seemed to grow stronger, his various components working in tandem to sustain and enhance his being.

The puppet master had ingeniously utilized the leeches' remarkable elasticity to create a water sack organ within his body. This adaptation allowed him to store and distribute water throughout his form, ensuring that the moisture-dependent parts functioned optimally.

With his hunger and thirst sated, the puppet master summoned his beetle-pulled chariot and rode around the lake's circumference, the gentle rocking motion soothing his thoughts. As he reached the opposite side of the lake, he brought the chariot to a halt and began calculating and planning his next project.

His gaze was fixed on some unseen point, his mind racing with the possibilities. The puppet master's thoughts were consumed by the intricacies of his project, and he seemed to be mentally rehearsing the various steps involved. "Thanks to the raids, I now have enough materials on hand," he thought, "and with the necessary limbs and tools, I can finally bring this project to fruition."

He felt a sense of gratitude towards his army, which had managed to capture the worms before they started laying eggs. "If they had been allowed to reproduce, they would have become annoying eyesores to handle," he mused. However, in their current state, the worms were perfect materials for his project, and he was confident that they would yield better results.

As the puppet master guided his chariot back to his resting area, his thoughts remained focused on the project. The worms, the materials, and the tools were all coming together in his mind, and he could visualize the outcome. With a sense of anticipation, he dismounted the chariot and began to prepare for the next phase of his project.

The puppet master's lair was filled with an air of expectation, as if the very walls were watching and waiting for the outcome of his endeavors.

The puppet master ordered the ants to retrieve the gecko's corpse, which the spider had preserved with great care. He positioned the corpse at the edge of the lake, precariously close to the water's edge, so that a slight nudge would send it tumbling in.

With the gecko in place, the puppet master quickly evacuated the area, relocating the puppet queens to secure cells and blocking the entrance to prevent any potential escape or interference. He also sent the ants outside, clearing the room of all unnecessary entities.

The only ones remaining in the room were the puppet master, his rides, and a specially chosen puppet – a horned dung beetle. This puppet was unique, as the puppet master had deliberately sought it out for this specific purpose. He sent a mental instruction to the horned dung beetle, which quickly scurried to the other end of the large room, positioning itself near the exit.

Meanwhile, the four door heads stood outside, surrounding a large rock that would be used to seal the exit once the puppet master emerged. This precautionary measure was taken in case another violent mutation occurred, ensuring that the puppet master could safely exit the room while containing any potential threats.

The horned dung beetle, sensing its master's distance, selflessly pushed the gecko's corpse into the lake water. The lake's surface immediately began to boil and churn, submerging the gecko completely, yet not so deeply that it would be obscured from view.

For the first half minute, the lake's reaction was limited to boiling, but after that threshold was passed, small, tiny bubbles began to rise from the water's surface, dispersing in all directions. Fortunately, the horned dung beetle had been recalled to safety during this time, ensuring that none of the bubbles came into contact with any living creatures.

Instead, the bubbles rose high into the air, eventually hitting the ceiling before being absorbed by the earth. Observing the outcome, the puppet master felt a mix of gratitude and regret that nothing more dramatic had occurred.

Despite this, he seemed satisfied with the results, and his thoughts turned to the next phase of his plans. "I'll start the forging two days from now," he thought, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his endeavors.

True to his word, as soon as daybreak arrived two days later, the puppet master immediately began working on his project.

The puppet master instructed the ants to transport all the living specimens from the cells to the hideout, while disposing of the deceased ones in the lake water. With his materials assembled, he began his project.

He gazed at the assortment of large insects, including queen-class types and solitary insects of similar statues. Having eradicated their consciousness, he proceeded to dissect the queen insects, carefully removing organs that weren't essential for their survival.

The puppet master preserved the reproductive organs, however, suggesting a specific purpose for the insects. During the dissection and removal process, only three insects died: two sub-queen termites and a honey queen.

The puppet master's skilled limbs moved with precision, his focus solely on the task at hand.

The puppet master continued his work, connecting the insect bodies together using flesh tubes crafted from the bodies of worms. These worms weren't from the initial batch he had captured, but a new group that the ants had procured during the night.

As he joined the various parts together, the puppet master created a massive lump of flesh, over twenty times his own size. Next, he extended one of his leech tentacles into the lake, carefully positioned nearby for this purpose.

He drew lake water into the tentacle, but instead of absorbing it into his body, he sprayed it over the enormous mass of insect parts. The puppet master then waited patiently for the parts to merge and heal, a crucial step in his project's development.

With the merging process underway, the puppet master seemed to be one step closer to realizing his vision. His work was far from over, however, and he prepared to take the next steps in his project.
