Lein paused, weighing all the possibilities. If he accepted Magnus' offer and joined the Invictus Sect, the benefits would be clear. Support from a Tier-4 King would be guaranteed, and he might even be able to request advancement materials directly from Tier-2 kings without much trouble.
There didn't appear to be any downside… unless membership in the sect came with binding obligations. The one thing he hated most was being dragged into large-scale wars. The battle between Durnhard and Valerian was still vivid in his memory—in the midst of destruction, all Lein could do was run, fleeing from the storm of power that had far surpassed his capabilities at the time.
Another thought crossed his mind. "Will the requirements for advancement remain the same for each king level?" Lein wondered silently. If so, then as long as he could gather all the prerequisites early on, breaking through to Tier-9 King would only be a matter of time.
