Chapter 393 - Chapter 393: The Prosperous Konoha

"What?" Kakashi's pupils narrowed as he saw Shisui closing the distance at remarkable speed.

The Body Flicker Technique was considered a basic jutsu, but mastering it to this degree was no simple feat—especially for someone who had only just graduated from the Academy.

"It seems the instructors at the ninja school weren't exaggerating," Minato observed with a soft chuckle as he watched the battle unfold. Shisui's display of the Body Flicker Technique proved that keeping him in the Academy any longer would have been pointless.

Obito's shock mirrored Kakashi's. Though not the most analytical person, even Obito understood what this technique represented. He clenched his fists tightly, realizing that if Shisui turned his speed against him, there would be little he could do to defend himself.

"Interesting," Kakashi murmured, his initial surprise giving way to a fiery fighting spirit.

Clang!

The sharp ring of kunai colliding filled the training ground as sparks flew from the impact. Kakashi and Shisui locked eyes, a mutual respect passing between them despite the tension.

Bang, bang!

Simultaneously, the two unleashed whip kicks that collided mid-air, the dull thud echoing loudly. Though both landed on their feet, Shisui grimaced briefly, his teeth gritting in discomfort.

The difference in their physical strength became immediately clear. While their speed and movement were nearly equal, Kakashi's greater experience and training gave him an undeniable edge.

Kakashi remained calm, his sharp eyes watching for an opening. Meanwhile, Shisui's mind raced, calculating his next move despite the ache in his limbs.

"Shisui is good," Minato mused from the sidelines, "but Kakashi's strength is still superior for now."

Taking advantage of Shisui's hesitation, Kakashi struck. His free arm shot forward, aiming directly for Shisui's chest like a steel rod.

Shisui had ample time to react but knew evasion wasn't an option. The gap between them in physical power was undeniable. With a determined glint in his eyes, he crossed his arms in front of his chest to absorb the blow.

Bang!

The force of Kakashi's strike sent Shisui skidding backward. His feet dug into the ground, leaving faint trails in the dirt as he fought to steady himself. His calf and arms trembled slightly from the impact, but his expression betrayed no frustration or disappointment.

Kakashi watched him carefully, surprised to see no trace of bitterness or defeat in Shisui's demeanor. Instead, the younger boy smiled faintly and said, "I give up."

Minato and Obito stepped forward as the match concluded.

Kakashi's brows furrowed. Despite his victory, he found Shisui's calm acceptance unnerving. If our positions were reversed, Kakashi thought, I'd never admit defeat so easily—or so gracefully.

The composure Shisui displayed didn't feel like resignation or cowardice. On the contrary, it exuded a quiet strength, a rare quality Kakashi couldn't help but admire.

"What a rare character," Minato said to himself, glancing at Shisui. Admitting one's limitations required a courage few possessed, especially someone from the proud and often conceited Uchiha clan. Shisui, however, displayed none of the arrogance commonly associated with his lineage.

"You did well," Minato said with a smile.

Shisui nodded slightly, his humility intact despite the praise.

"I've seen enough," Minato continued. "We'll start missions tomorrow."

Both Kakashi and Shisui nodded in acknowledgment.

Obito, however, remained uncharacteristically quiet. His fists clenched tightly at his sides as he looked at Minato. "Sensei, since there's no mission today, I'll be heading off," he said abruptly.

Without waiting for a response, he leaped away, disappearing into the distance.

"Is Obito-senpai alright?" Shisui asked, his tone tinged with concern as he watched Obito leave.

"He's always like that," Kakashi replied dismissively. "Reckless."

Shisui nodded, though his gaze lingered in the direction Obito had gone.

Minato observed the exchange silently, his lips curling into a faint smile. Compared to Kakashi and Shisui, Obito's talents seemed less pronounced. Yet Minato sensed something unique about the boy—a latent potential even Obito himself might not fully understand.

Later, in the Hokage's Office, Hiruzen greeted Minato with a knowing smile.

"Haha, it seems you're impressed with Shisui," the Hokage said, leaning back in his chair.

Minato nodded. "He doesn't carry the typical Uchiha attitude," he replied thoughtfully.

Hiruzen chuckled. "Not every Uchiha is arrogant. Mikoto is a perfect example, isn't she?"

Minato smiled at the mention of his and Kushina's friend. Shisui's demeanor indeed reminded him of Mikoto's quiet strength.

"By the way," Hiruzen continued, "Tsunade reported this morning that Nohara Rin is doing quite well under her tutelage. I imagine all the preparation you gave her beforehand has helped."

"Rin's a talented girl," Minato said, his tone warm. "She was an excellent choice, Hokage-sama."

Hiruzen nodded in agreement, his gaze drifting to the framed portraits of the First and Second Hokage hanging on the wall. "Konoha has grown stronger and more prosperous. It's all thanks to dedicated young people like you and promising newcomers like your team."

Minato bowed slightly in acknowledgment. "Hokage-sama, thank you for your hard work and guidance over the years."

Hiruzen's temples were streaked with white, a testament to the weight he had carried as Hokage. Despite his advancing years, his resolve to protect the village remained unwavering.

"For the village, I'd give everything," Hiruzen said firmly. "But Minato, what I truly hope is for you and your generation to protect the peace we've worked so hard to achieve."

Minato met Hiruzen's gaze, his own resolve shining brightly. "Yes, Hokage-sama. As a member of Konoha, it's my duty—and the duty of all its ninjas—to safeguard this hard-earned peace."

Their words hung in the air, a silent vow between the old and the young. Then, they exchanged smiles, the torch of Konoha's future glowing brightly between them.
