As if to demonstrate their strength, the three Saibamen quickly sprang into action. They began to run at high speed around Piccolo and his companions, creating a blurred ring of motion. Then, almost in unison, each Saibaman chose a small hill, either clawing or kicking at it with such force that it crumbled instantly.
After showing off their power, the Saibamen returned to stand in front of Vegeta and Nappa, grinning maliciously. Vegeta, however, looked at the three creatures with a mixture of irritation and boredom.
Vegeta knew very well that, given the Saibamen's current strength, they were no match for Piccolo and the others. Even in the original story, the relatively weaker Yamcha could defeat one Saibaman in single combat, and Krillin once wiped out five Saibamen with a single move when he was enraged.
The reason Vegeta released the Saibamen was simply to witness a famous scene from the original storyline. Meanwhile, his gaze kept shifting toward Gohan. Recalling Gohan's potential from the original, Vegeta felt a surge of excitement.
From what the original series suggested, Gohan's potential was absolutely terrifying. Even if he wasn't the strongest, he was certainly among the top fighters.
However, Vegeta couldn't help but feel a twinge of regret. Despite having such immense potential, Gohan never fully realized it and instead, his talent seemed to go to waste.
With these thoughts swirling in his mind, Vegeta quietly communicated with his system.
"System, how many extraction points would it take to extract from Gohan?"
*"Ding! The target is not within 20 meters. Unable to extract."*
Hearing this response, Vegeta paused for a moment before regaining his composure. In a swift movement, without anyone noticing, he positioned himself about ten meters away from Gohan.
Seeing Vegeta suddenly appear at a distance, without any visible movement, Piccolo and the others felt a jolt of fear. They stared at Vegeta with heightened caution and terror.
"Huh? Is Vegeta planning to act himself?" Nappa murmured, scratching his head in confusion as he watched Vegeta.
Ignoring their puzzlement, Vegeta continued communicating silently with his system.
*"Ding! Target Gohan detected. Extraction will cost 65 extraction points. Confirm extraction?"*
Sixty-five points! That's 30 points more than Nappa's extraction cost! Considering Gohan's future achievements, a 30-point increase might not even cover it—perhaps it should be at the maximum of 200 points!
But there's one important factor: Gohan currently has a power level of less than 1,000, yet the extraction cost is so high. This certainly speaks volumes about his potential.
Vegeta had studied the system enough to know that the strength of the target greatly influences the cost of extraction points. A powerful entity, even without extraordinary qualities like talent, potential, or bloodline, still wouldn't be cheap to extract from.
In a split second, countless thoughts ran through Vegeta's mind. After a brief moment of contemplation, he made his decision.
"System! Proceed with extracting from Gohan!"
*"Ding! 65 extraction points consumed successfully. Remaining extraction points: 16. Extraction in progress…"*
*"Ding! Extraction successful. Congratulations, host, you have successfully extracted Saiyan bloodline, potential, and comprehension from Gohan!"*
*"Bloodline, potential, and comprehension enhancement in progress. Beginning fusion with host. Detected existing Saiyan bloodline—enhancing bloodline power."*
Seeing that the extraction included the potential he cared most about, Vegeta let out a sigh of relief.
Based on this experience, Vegeta deduced a pattern. It seemed that each extraction might not be entirely random. Or rather, the system wouldn't allow him to lose out too much. If he spent 65 extraction points, he would receive something of equivalent value.
Given Gohan's current condition, if the extraction had only taken his present abilities, it would have been highly disadvantageous for Vegeta.
If the target had been someone like Beerus or an Angel like Whis, the extraction might have included any of their abilities or attributes, considering how incredibly powerful they were. Any single attribute or ability could be worth more than 200 extraction points.
Of course, these were just Vegeta's theories. The true nature of the system would only become clear with further experimentation.
As Vegeta contemplated these ideas, he could feel familiar energy surging into his body, causing him to undergo a comprehensive enhancement and evolution once more…
While Vegeta was experiencing this surge of power, the Saibamen, done with their idle time, prepared to attack.
Sensing the killing intent from the Saibamen, Gohan's face filled with fear. He hesitated, unable to make eye contact with the creatures.
"Gohan, don't take your eyes off them!" Krillin quickly noticed Gohan's unease and sternly instructed him.
"Y-Yes!" Gohan stammered, calming down slightly.
"There's no need to be afraid!" Piccolo added firmly.
"Yes!" With the encouragement from both of them, Gohan's fear receded a little.
Finally, after a few seconds of intense standoff, the three Saibamen lunged at Piccolo and the others.
Recognizing Piccolo as the tougher opponent, two of the Saibamen focused on him, while the remaining one targeted Krillin.
As for Gohan, no Saibaman attacked him, leaving him standing there in a daze, unsure whether to step forward and help Piccolo and Krillin.
The fight between both sides was intense. Within just a few seconds, they exchanged dozens of blows. The speed was so fast that it was hard to follow with the naked eye.
However, for Vegeta and Nappa, this speed wasn't impressive at all. In fact, it seemed rather slow and clumsy. Given Vegeta's current level of power, he was on an entirely different plane of existence compared to everyone else.
