The morning dragged like a drunk being thrown out of the bar. Vira lounged in her bed, watching dust motes dance in the sunlight and wondering when exactly her life had started revolving around silver hair and cocky grins.
[This is getting pathetic,] she thought. [Can't even enjoy a proper sulk anymore unless she's around to make it interesting.]
The sound of movement from the other room caught her attention. She checked and, sure enough, it was Koros, getting ready to leave. She caught a glimpse of his bare torso as he reached for his shirt – all lean muscle and old scars.
"You're really going through with this kitsune thing?" she asked, not bothering to hide her disapproval.
"Already told you we are." He pulled the shirt on, covering marks from fights she wished he'd never gotten into. "Just scouting today. The real fun starts later this week."
"Since when is any of this 'fun'?" Vira sat up fully, sheets pooling around her waist.
