Meanwhile, a few thousand miles away from the Central Continent, deep in the vast ocean that surrounded Nexara, something massive moved slowly beneath the waves.
From the surface, it looked like a regular island, full of trees, hills, and rocky cliffs. Birds flew over it, fish swam around it, and mist rolled across its edges like normal.
But this wasn't an island. It was the shell of a giant turtle.
A sea turtle with a shell nearly 300 meters in diameter and a length of 500 meters. Its skin was dark green and covered with a thick layer of algae and barnacles, while its shell was a beautiful swirl of blues, greens, and browns.
The turtle didn't move much. Its body floated slowly just under the sea's surface, but its movements created powerful currents in the water. Waves crashed against the sides of its shell, and whirlpools formed in its wake.
