Chapter 157 New Room
Aleshia reflected on their reunion in this space and agreed, "You're right, Kailey. However, as I've mentioned before, now that I have you with me, we don't need the book. I do acknowledge your point, though. If either Lucia or I get separated from you, the book would be useful in a worst-case scenario." After settling the topic, Aleshia sighed and shifted her focus. "All we need to do now is find a way out of this ruin, bring you back into your body, and help those people with their curses."
After expressing their thoughts, Aleshia and Kailey resumed their search for an exit. With no other exits, they continued going through the doors and finding nothing new, only encountering blank rock walls. Kailey felt an increasing need for distraction, so she began casually flipping through the spellbook, hoping to uncover new information since she had only read a few sections. As she did this, her attention shifted back and forth between the book and the doors she opened, but she continued to see nothing but the same rocky surface.
Kailey absentmindedly opened doors while flipping through the spellbook, skimming the pages for new information. She was jolted from her daze reading when Aleshia shook her and exclaimed, "Kailey, I've found a strange door! It has decorations and a completely different atmosphere from anything we've encountered."
Intrigued, Kailey set the book down and followed Aleshia to the decorated door. Upon reaching the door, she examined it. A thought nagged at the back of her mind. Kailey stated, "I think I've seen this somewhere before." Wanting to confirm her suspicions, she opened the door. Looking through the doorway, she added, as if lost in thought, "This looks like a graveyard."
Aleshia and Kailey entered the room and walked toward the center, where several graves were. In one corner, they spotted a rundown hut. Kailey experienced a sense of familiarity and muttered, "I'm pretty sure I've been here before." As she focused on the gravestones, she recognized the inscriptions she had previously decoded, confirming her suspicions. Looking toward the hut, Kailey said, "And that is the hut where Lucia left her experimented puppet body. I'm certain this is where she stored that wooden body you tried, Aleshia," she recalled from her earlier visit. Then she suggested, "We should search the hut for anything we can use to escape. Since this was Lucia's storage for her unsuccessful bodies, it could contain something we can use."
